I don't think it's entirely out of question. Senran Kagura and Idolmaster both introduced guys into recent installments.
Helena, Tina and Christie being so far in the back upsets me

I'm pretty happy with these ranking results so far. Would definitely like to see Mila move into the top 9 though, get Honoka or Leifang out or something. Or DLC characters at least.
The character's name is Helena. And yes, she's definitely one of the game's better designs (upgraded from being one of the worst previously), but the skin shading and general modelling is consistent across pretty much all the characters, and all sit a good amount above Tekken imo. I find it weird that you'd describe the look as "plastic-y" to be honest. I would definitely have agreed with that for prior DoA games (which was of course intentional at the time), but definitely not for DoA5, which I think handles skin better than basically all comparable fighters that I can think of.
I mean... this is Tekken SEVEN. This IS their next generation hotties.
TTT2 is significantly worse... and along with stuff like Street Fighter V, these characters literally do look like action figures. Their skin doesn't look like skin at all, and it's hard to even imagine that if poked, it would actually flex. Dead or Alive is far ahead in this area. Tekken and Dead or Alive have swapped roles in regards to who looks like plastic.
Also, you seem to have absolutely no idea what you're talking about in regards the hair looking no more complicated than the OG Xbox games... This is from Dead or Alive 2 Ultimate, the last version of Kasumi to hit that console.
The hair isn't even in the same universe. In fact Tekken 7 (again) is a closer comparison.

A) If I were to do a ranking for the American themes based on ratings, then all those same girls save Tina would still not be in the top 9.
B) The fanbase of these games is hardly representative of what the overall population feels.

Hayate's my #2, but Rig... unf. A tad bulky in the arms, but I can work with it.
He's got a great face, and although some of his tattoos are dumb if you look too closely, their placement makes a nice abstract pattern because they're monochrome.

I don't think that is how they are voting. If TN slapped a 59 on Kasumi's age and didn't change anything else she'd still be super popular. The western characters are not popular in Japan.

I don't mean to direct that at only you. Just some people seem to act like those characters are only unpopular because Japan, even though if I were to do the same thing with the American version of the themes, girls like Christie and Rachel would be at the bottom while girls like Honoka would be at the top.
I bet if they had a western vote for which 9 characters would be in, the roster wouldn't change much.

I love Rig's design, but his arms are too beefy. Dude is too swole.

If he didn't have the tattoos, I'd enjoy him a lot more. (I like his arms.) He's still alright IMO. Bayman is my forever #1 though.
I hope the new character they're revealing next spring(?) is a dude. (And not another ugly endboss guy.)

There's a ton of games that focus solely on female characters in terms of sexualization, and precious few that offer the same treatment to the male characters; it's time to change that. If the issue is that you can handle seeing dudes in swimsuits, then I don't know what to tell you.

I understand your situation but not every game needs to appeal to everyone. It's like requesting Playboy to include pictures of naked men too just to be fair. I'm pretty sure fans wouldn't be happy if they did that.
You should instead ask Team Ninja to make a male version of DOAX.
I agree with the bolded, but I do take some issue with "nothing being taken away".
If there is no increase in budget, but they add male characters, that means there will be less female characters. I can understand why someone who doesn't care about men wouldn't want that. Personally I am fine if they want to split it 5F/4M.
