Anyone dealt with something like this before and if so how did you fix it, this is my favourite TV the best one I ever had lol I don't even know how the pixels got affected but it really sucks ):
What colour are they? And are they sub pixels or actual pixels? How many are there? Can you see them from your normal viewing distance?
If they're stuck pixels then sometimes running a pixel flipper of some sort like this for example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjdrMuKpaCI. where it basically flashes through red, green, blue very quickly can unstick them.
Sometimes they can come unstuck themselves through normal viewing.
If they're dead so black, then that's the way they'll stay.
pressure method after running the dead pixel remover vid for a few hours. If you run the dead pixel remover vid be sure to not look at your tv screen while its going. The different colors flashing can cause seizures.
Theres like 3/4 of them and they are black so I guess I'm screwed it can be repaired though right?
If they're black then they're dead. Are you 100% sure they're black?
You could take a macro picture to see the sub pixels closely, but otherwise yeah if the sub pixel is black then it's dead.
Dead pixels wouldn't be "repaired" as such, you'd need to replace the panel. If you bought from a decent retailer like Amazon then you could just exchange it.
Can you see them from your normal viewing distance?
yeah man ever since I first saw them I can't stop looking at them let it be playing a game or watching a movie it bothers me, I got this TV from a shopping mall in 2011 if i remember correctly it was one of the Samsung 3D TV models
4 years old, well your only choice is to live with it, or buy a new TV.
Even if you decided to pay for a repair or in other words a new panel, it wouldn't be cost effective. For the cost you could buy a brand new TV.
It's annoying but dead pixels are a lottery, some displays have them out the box, some have none at all, and some develop over time.
Generally they're not an issue as most of the time they aren't visible at normal viewing distances.
Most manufacturers now make comments about them in the supplied documentation, along the lines of "you may see tiny black dots and/or brightly coloured dots (red, blue or green), this does not indicate a malfunction and does not affect the performance and reliability of the product"
Some PC monitor manufacturers offer zero dead pixel policies but many now require a large amount of dead pixels, and generally in the centre of the display for it to be a warranty fix.
But in any case with your TV being 4 years old there's no warranty I assume (unless it came with 5 year warranty)
The warranty was 2 years but damn you saved my TV can't thank you enough
What do you mean? You used the YouTube link I provided?
yeah it seemed to do the trick they are no longer black and I can go back to playing games without constantly looking at them![]()
I have a similar problem so I thought I might ask about it here; I don't think it's a dead pixel but like an area of few pixels which is a bit darker, anyone knows if this could be fixed?

That's good news. The dead pixel fixers are the only thing that's actually provided a fix in the past. The massage method has not worked for me, and I'm not keen on putting pressure on any display, even if it is light pressure.
But then again I'm ocd and I use a rocket blower to remove dust etc lol
Do you have a picture?
Sure, here -- http://i.imgur.com/JU17azF.jpg
Sorry for the horrible photo, I don't have a camera here atm so I took it with my phone, it's easier to see if you pan back a bit, looks like a dark spot.
I can see a dark patch, almost like a square, it's roughly just off centre of the screen and to the right. Is that what you mean? I've highlighted the area, but the circle I drew is larger than the affected area, just want to make sure I'm seeing what you mean.
In your original picture that's the area I can see a dark patch.

Yeah, that's it, hard to see on the that photo... Any idea what it is? Doesn't look like dead or stuck pixels.
Can that mark be seen with the screen off? Turn the screen off and shine a flashlight in that area to test. My initial thoughts are that's a mark on the actual screen, or possibly a smudge, mark inside of the display that may have been there when it was manufactured.
Did you notice it over time? Is the panel new? Was it there out of the box? Or has it recently appeared? Any impact?
It doesn't look like dead pixels, but the image isn't great. A decent macro picture will show for definite if there's any abnormalities with the sub pixels. I've zoomed in and the sub pixels in that area all appear lit to me.
On a very close picture this is what a dead sub pixel would look like (look towards the centre of the screen), to clarify in case you don't know but a pixel is generally made up of 3 sub pixels, red, green and blue.
Dead pixels are actually very rare, often it's the sub pixels that die, or get stuck. A stuck pixel would be for example a red sub pixel always stuck on red, or green always stuck on green etc
Yep, I know about subpixels, still I doubt it's anything with pixels, when I look at the spot very closely there's nothing wrong, even the darker shade is not noticeable.
Also, already tried looking for defects with the flashlight when the TV is turned off, seems like everything is right.
It was there out of the box, the TV is a few months old, it's noticeable only on bright colors and only if I really look for it, it's not distracting or anything, just annoying because I really like the TV otherwise
I tried the gentle rubbing but not the RGB flashing test yet, so I'll try that out, but I doubt it'll do anything. If I had to guess I'd say it's a backlight problem, maybe a speck of dust got inside during the assembly and is obstructing the light there, but then again I tried tapping on the spot lightly and it doesn't seem to move.
I think it's an actual physical defect, likely behind the display. There doesn't seem to be any dead or stuck pixels at all.
It's more of a small dark patch, almost like a fingerprint smudge beind the panel, and as it was ther from day one likely happened while being manufactured.
