Dead Rising 4 now on Steam

It runs like crap for those who are considering buying it. I get frame skipping every single second. Already did everything and it's still doing it. Basically unplayable.

Go replay Dead Rising 1 and 2 instead.

Weird, was about the post the opposite, running great here (and way better than DR3).

Only issue I had is in the prologue some walls looked strangely low res at one point.

The game runs better than DR3 for me.

And I liked it more than DR3 because it did away with the annoying ass map that had roadblocks everywhere and clunky ass (admittedly more in-depth) controls.

Gaming PC in a nutshell man. I had some trouble running Dead Rising 3 but the patches help with some of the problem.

Dead Rising 4 is just unplayable for me. Whenever I'm running, it looks like it's alternating between slow motion and then super fast. The stuttering is still there even if I just walk.

What's your memory situation like? Sounds like you might be running out of VRAM to me.

It is the best one.

Hell, the only good one IMO.

Well it worked for Zelda.
Big difference between botw and this game is that Zelda took established genre coventions and mechanics from other established series and made it work in the context of Zelda. Dead rising 4 did not. There's no ownership here, or thought put into the wholesale copying of design tropes. They just took out dead rising stuff and slaphazzardly stuffed in Ubisoft or Batman stuff where they could. There's no ambition here to do anything greater, or mechanical and/or design decisions to give individual ownership of these mechanics. They just cynically made an Ubisoft game with a dead rising logo in the most boring way imaginable.

I'm good.

The thread

Dead Rising 4 is such a hollow, cookie-cutter experience that is not only terribly designed and boring, but lacks any of the series charm to distinguish itself from the billions of other zombie games. And god... what they did to Frank.

It's the Dead Rising for people who hate Dead Rising.

Also $60? LOL

Glad they delayed the Steam release so most people would wise up and not buy.

Crazy how Capcom released RE7 and DR4 within about a month of each other and RE7 did everything DR4 was promising to do.

RM254 here in Malaysia (US$56)

Exchange rate is US$1:RM4.5 Normally the exchange rate is around US1 to RM3.5-4ish

Atelier Firis is RM105 (US$23.3)

Lego Worlds is RM56 (US$12.4)

lol, my goodness.

Wow.

Hah, 60 euros.

I'll buy it when I can get it for 5 euros and just want to spend an evening mindlessly smashing zombies.

Got the game from a friend, I have played the 1 and 2 recently but not 3.

I played a few minutes of 4
you start in the same zone as the first game but in a dreamlike experience, with a literal ghost of the old frank talking to you, they give to you weapons to use and they are all feel pretty weird, even the combat is not that good imho.

they replaced the health points with a green health bar too :c

then a cutscene plays and the comedy was okay, I kinda like this approach to Frank but im worried this "wacky puns" thing getting old quick

Singapore am cry.

I was pleasantly surprised by Malaysia's RE7 price. It must have been a one off error.

It's kind of like publishers are catching on that PC is the premium version (not that it has anything to do with their amazing coding), therefore they need to charge more.

I'm running it on a GTX 970. It still happening even if I lower the details to Medium or Low.
What's the game reporting usage as? Important to take into account that the console version runs at 900p, so the 3.5GB in the 970 may run short at 1080p.

After all the great games that have come out in the last 3 months this sad effort gets squeezed out again at ÂŁ40. A waste of time for all concerned.

If fans want to support this series, just grab the first one if they already haven't. It's the best game in the series. 2 is fine too, especially in co-op with a friend, but it doesn't hold a candle to the first one.

Just don't support this dumpster fire, or DR3 for that fact.

Sweet. I hated 1 and 2 but loved 3, so this one looks more up my alley.
Don't do it. I actually had a great time with 3 but this game just reeks. I played it on the weekend after release and never again since.
Actually booted up DR3 afterwards and it was still great fun.

Initial testing of the steam version and there's a few things I can say about it right off the bat:

Game is properly multithreaded (across 4c, haven't checked threads yet), which is kind of shocking for a capcom game. Ryzen folks should be happy with this one. Also seems really CPU limited with GPU usage rarely hovering in the upper 90s even at 4K.

Resolution hammers performance. I lost 30-35 FPS on the jump between 1080p and 1440p. PS4 players, I wouldn't really be holding out much hope for serious supersampling in this game on the pro version.

Game runs well on my end. ~60fps @ 1440p, ~90 @ 1080p, ~25fps @4k, all at beginning of game when linear so perf most def takes a dump later when shit gets real...but I've got the game installed on an M2 drive, running on 3200MHz RAM, a very stoutly overclocked 980ti, and a 7700k @ 4.8ghz, so who knows if you will have luck on more modest builds.

To the guy with the stuttering issues: the game doesn't even seem to use a full 4 GB VRAM even on ultra @ 4k, so I doubt it's vram related. What's your cpu? Game might be smashing it.

oh hey guys

game is at around 14-17k atm per steamspy

guess this third pillar is obviously going to carry this game to that sweet, sweet 2 million by march number capcom wanted out of the game, right?

totally worth it to slay the series chasing batman and ubisoft numbers and sell gangbusters. game totally isnt going to end up the worst selling and reviewed title in the series, right? right guys? be sure to buy "The Deadest Rising" in 2020 reboot game as an open world rpg with "deep characterization" and "mountains you can see and climb" as staggeringly new features in this lush series! because that's what kids like these days, right...?

This game has gone from running like a dream to absolute shit for me. UWP version that is. Used to be pretty much stutter free. Shadow res @ high, the rest on max at 1080p. Hardly ever dropped below 60fps. Framerate is still the same I think, but the stuttering is unbearable. Either a Win 10 update or a patch for the game must have broken something.
Tried several different drivers and no luck.

6700K, 16GB DDR4, GTX 1070.
Win 10 with latest updates.
Haven't touched the game since perhaps january and now when I returned areas that I know ran beautifully makes me want to vomit.

I bought it on Windows Store and the game did not work. I'm not going to re-buy it.

But this is a good news. Windows Store is not good in my book and I'm not happy that I'm force to use it instead of Steam.

wow I didn't know DR4 was this hated.

I haven't played it but if it runs like DR3 did on PC then....no thanks
It runs a lot better. The game is much buggier though and is less impressive visually, not to mention the game plays like shit and has roughly half the content in comparison to dead rising 3. I mean yeah youll get smoother framerates, but that only takes you so far. I'd rather play dr3 again at 720p25fps on the bone than ever install this game again. There's really nothing here for anyone unless you've exhausted basically every other generic ass open world game this gen. Dead rising 3 has a lot of issues, but it does have pretty fun gameplay. This takes that gameplay and makes it worse in every imaginable way while cutting with a chainsaw any and everything else supporting that gameplay out of what I can only presume was in a rush to get it out the door for Christmas. Not to mention cutting the ending off the game and selling it as dlc...

I'd be hard to recommend this game for anything less than a ps+ game or humble fluff in an otherwise better bundle. It's just a bottom of the barrel open world game of this gen with all the trappings in the most souless and boring way imaginable.
