Dead Rising 4 |OT| Frank's Back NNNNGGGHHHAAAAA

Still fighting for my PC version... Not looking good. They offered me an extension of two month to my Xbox Live LOL.

I had a supervisor promise me the PC version. So I have no idea what is going to happen but after he straight up said I would get it, it will be worth it to trade emails and chats back and forth.

So no one replied to me earlier on, but I was not crazy thinking this was a Play Anywhere title by the replies I am seeing in this thread? I am absolutely positive I saw it was and that is why I preordered it digitally so damn long ago.

Anyway, played the very first basically tutorial mission so do not have much of an impression just yet other than I wish I had not played Watch Dogs 2 prior to playing this. Going from the movement of that game to this one is jarring for sure.

I should get past that though and learn to enjoy this game for what it is.
The Last Guardian also arrived today and also want to check it out.
Too many damn games.

I thought it would be too, but I saw something a few weeks back saying it was not (I believe it was on Polygon but I can't be sure) BUT that was all the more reason to jump on the apparent two-for-one bundle that MS was advertising on their store. The only problem was they advertised it as a two-for-one but now they are claiming it is not.

Wow so I have to say I am really impressed with the game. Since they removed the time limit, I am playing the game more like the first one where I am exploring every single place and trying every weapon (eg DR3 you just rush for the combo weapons)

I think its a great looking game, this is on PC runs nice at 1080/60 and I really like how themed the areas are.

The crazy powerful weapons you try out in the first tutorial sequence were really cool and has me looking forward to later in the game.

I love the streamlined inventory system and the new controls that easily let you move between melee, ranged and thrown. It basically lets me do what I always wanted to do in DR3 but were too hampered by the controls

Really impressed.

I have an email stating I would get a code today. The only thing he would offer is two months Xbox Live Gold. He said he's a supervisor and that he couldn't transfer it any higher. He eventually escalated it. I told him if I don't hear back by Thursday this is going to the better business bureau.

Is there a quick guide/FAQ to multiplayer going around? I.e Can you upgrade/customize the characters, is there a separate leveling system, are there exclusive MP weapons and are they usable in SP, will they add more content to it post launch, etc.

They are trying hard to get away with not making good on their mistake. Also there is always someone higher than a supervisor. I spent over a year in a call center. Everyone answers to someone :-)

Nice impressions. I had my worries about this game, but it seems to be fun despite the lack of timers and new Frank. I personally had no connection to the old Frank until recently when I played 1 and Off the Record a few months ago when they got new ports (DR2 was my first DR game.) I have no strong feelings either way about the timers, it's a cool mechanic that I can live without, but it should've at least been an option to turn on.

Instead of picking up this and TLG today, I ended up with just TLG. But I'll probably end up picking this up next week when I'm done with TLG.

Change your region to Denmark in the Windows 10 control panel. Go to the Windows 10 store (no restart needed) and check the price of Dead Rising 4 Deluxe edition. If it is still the low price (in Danish crowns) you are good, but you now need to get some of that regional currency as gift certificates. I tried to pay directly through paypal first, but got an error message.

Go to the web shop Microsoft store, change your country to Denmark, and buy two gift certificates with 100 Danish crowns each. I used a fake Danish address (I googled one from Copenhagen) in the microsoft store and payed with my usual paypal account (did not need to modify my paypal settings at all).

Now you buy the game in the Windows 10 store. At some point you will have to option to choose a payment method. Use the two codes you got from the microsoft store here. You will have to register the codes one at a time. Now you can pay for the game with the payment option "account balance". Do that and you now own the game.

DONE!

Does this work for sure so I don't get a nasty region lock surprise or something?

Put in an hour and a half, i found it quite enjoyable so far.
Love the Christmas setting.

If anything i remember a thread here where the devs basically said "it came later on in development so weren't not doing it".

I went for a look and the google tells me that at least one outlet got a response back in july. From digital trends
“While Capcom Vancouver is excited about the potential of Xbox Play Anywhere, Dead Rising 4 will not be an Xbox Play Anywhere title. The team is thrilled to partner with Microsoft once again to help bring their ambitious vision for Dead Rising 4 to life this holiday, where fans will be able to play the game first on Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs.”
I thought this was play anywhere up until yesterday but there you go.

Can confirm game has 21:9 support.
In-Game is 21:9

but...
In-Game cut scenes are 16:9
Menus including pause menu are limited to 16:9

It works right now for me. I have installed the game, booted into the game and done the short tutorial. I can't say anything about what Microsoft/Capcom will do in the future though. I would always check that the low price is still in place in the Danish store before buying gift certificates (as I said in my short guide). I would assume that the pricing mistake gets corrected shortly, especially if a lot of people make use of the offer.

The article is correct...the game does not support XPA. Xbox One version is published by Microsoft while the PC version comes from Capcom. Because we're different publishing entities, Microsoft doesn't have the ability to bundle or give away codes for the PC version. Sorry :(

On a more technical level, the game uses a different TitleID, which means they aren't compatible with each other from a networking standpoint. It also means they have separate Achievements, leaderboards, and saves. From the platform's point of view, they are treated as if they're completely different games.

I cannot say I remember that one, but just goes to show how easily different people hear different things.

Perhaps that is what I saw. Here is the thing though. I am a big Dead Rising fan myself. So had this preordered on Amazon and since I am a Prime member got the discount. Something made me cancel that and go digital, and the only reason I go digital on the One is Play Anywhere (at least thus far). So maybe I saw this.

Well that settles it at least. Thanks for sharing.

In regards to my comments earlier about how I wish I had not played Watch Dogs 2, yeah, it is irrelevant after two hours with the game. It is the same wacky game I always remember, and if anything I would say it is even tighter overall. Just so easy to get lost in the craziness. Such a fun game. Sincerely and truly it is just bonkers in a good way. It is why I always have loved the series. I realize it is not everyone's cup of tea, but it is mine.

That's disappointing.

Hope RE7 is XPA, having a console copy is a really attractive deal for me; I mainly play PC games but my roommates are mainly console gamers.

It's pretty much the only reason why I would buy a WinStore version over a Steam version, unless the Steam version is superior in features or something.

Liking it a lot so far. The lack of timer allows for a bigger focus on exploration (without having to sacrifice a playthrough) and the areas are definitely designed around that -- so far the setting is a huge step up from DR3 and shaping up to be the best of the series. I still haven't left the mall because I'm exploring every nook and cranny possible. The camera mechanic is really well done and the spectral scanning adds another layer to the exploration.

I still wish they had kept Franks original VA but the new guy is good in his own right and the jokes have been cracking me up.

Liking what I'm seeing from the PC version. I may go ahead and pull the trigger before it releases on Steam. I'll double dip on a sale or something.

Following their flub with the Final Fantasy XV Season Pass, Best Buy has also not sent me THIS game's Season Pass.

Has their digital department just given up? I've had to hunt down support for getting my code for each...

Random side note.
My wife (not a gamer) pointed out almost immediately how odd it was that two games in a row that I chose to play had such a heavy emphasis on using a camera and made a comment about how they're just a reflection of the state of things in the world today.
I then tried to explain how the camera has been an integral part of this series since Day 1 but she walked away.

You can learn all the essentials about Multiplayer in my review: http://www.windowscentral.com/dead-rising-4-review

Also, here's a playthrough of the first multiplayer episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtZqS8PfH_k

One of the DLCs, Super Ultra Dead Rising 4 Mini Golf will definitely be co-op. Stocking Stuffer Holiday Pack is just items and skins for the game, so some of those might work in co-op (though you can't dress up, so maybe not). The final DLC Frank Rising is not confirmed to have multiplayer content yet.

I got that thing where progress in story and weapons were lost but XP and upgrades remained. I made sure to look for the save icon before quitting. Any way to guarantee I don't lose stuff from now on?

Thanks for the run-down!

I hope they release more episodes in the future, and that Mini Golf DLC sounds insane

Did I read that right that they made 15 combo weapon blueprints exclusive to multiplayer? Is there a way to launch it without other players because if not these servers are gonna be dead soon and the weapons will be lost forever.

Yep, 15 Combo Blueprints can only be unlocked in multiplayer (and then used in single-player or multiplayer).

I think you can launch solo, but I'll need to test it. Right now, the servers are hopping. Boosting with friends or using a site that offers boosting help (TrueAchievements, TrueTrophies) will also be options.

Frank's VA sounds like the guy from GTA V, Michael IIRC. Same guy? edit, just looked it up, not even close. Weird.

Love the SP so far. I laughed out loud just in the first hour or so more than most other games entirely. Not sold on MP though. No co-op campaign really sucks.

Great game and it's better without the timer. I can grind and explore all the different shops, while taking in the atmosphere.

Question - how the I save in the game???

Hit lvl 70 yesterday with almost 25'000 zombies killed.
I still discover some new stuff even after 20 hours of gameplay.
Everybody should give this game a chance, it's just so much fun!

I have hope that this will be released on the PS4 in a special edition form. Hopefully adding a mode that includes the timer and enhancing the difficulty.

random dips, like to the 20s when turning the camera. I tried lowering everything to the minimum without any effect, really strange. After reading this is a good port I am a bit pissed.

edit: yes new drivers and everything :) like I said, it seems like a bug even.

it wasn't doing that for me yesterday, then I booted it up today and it started doing it for me. in the same areas.

So I just finished Case 3. Gotta say it's quickly becoming my favorite. The first game still edges ahead but I'm loving the story and gameplay. Still so much to explore. The story has really grabbed me a lot more then 2 or 3's did. I need to break away and explore more before I finish. lol

It's quickly moved into 2nd place for my GOTY behind Quantum Break and it very well could take that spot if it keeps it up.

Yes, the first one is still the best but DR4 is better than 3 and 2, imo. Maybe it's because of the mall setting and Frank^^
But it's a good game, that's for sure. way better than DR3.
