Just got back from the cinema. I really liked this version of Deadpool, he's silly and fueled by revenge but not insane and sadly not sadistic enough (Al is well treated comparatively to her comics counterpart). He is the same man after his treatment, no degenerating brain cells in action, no voices in head, I wouldn't have said no to more silliness but I guess it would have bloated the movie.
I wonder why they chose Colossus to be Deadpool's straight man, why not a mutant that's actually close to Wade in the comics like Boom Boom, Canonball or Syrin? Anyway, he was way better represented than in any of the other movies he appears so I liked it. Negasonic was underused, it's too bad her jokes were already blown by the trailers. I found odd the X-Men actively wanted to recruit Wade, he's not even a mutant but what's really a letdown is the missed opportunity of a telepathic conversation between DP and Xavier, great jokes could have been made when entering the mind of a chimichanga eater and Bea Arthur fetichist.
The Weapon X flashback was nice to include Francis Ajax and Worm, no Killbrew though.
Vanessa was actually way more likable than in the comics with no mutant bullshit, Morena Baccarin really sold me on the romantic side of the film.
The subtle references to Spider-Man were very nice and made me long for an onscreen crossover that will likely never happen.
Bob is there but no Hydra, it was still an enjoyable touch to include him.
Weasel took Patch's place and lost his gadget guy role, well, too bad, no Penetraitor (meh) and time-travel shenanigans (boo).
The action was really great, fast and readable, a joy to watch, an impressive achievement given the restrained budget.
The movie was overall very good, true to its source material. I only regret it was streamlined a bit too much. It's a good starting point for a franchise I cannot wait to see Cable & Deadpool.
