Somehow Darius Miles sprained his ankle at the buzzer after jumping into the air and landing, with no one touching him :lol Idiot!

"Mess with Lebron, you mess with me."

jeez, the commentary by the studio guy couldn't have been any worse. Thanks for the file though.

In fairness to Brown, he was about to get sandwiched, he might not have been trying to drive there, but certainly he wasn't trying to fall on his face.

Yeah, I only downloaded it because I thought it would be from ESPN. That was from sportsnet....a Canadian station that's not THAT terrible, but those two guys are BY FAR the worst...just pathetic, it sounded like they were out of it. Whatever.

I like the part where he says, "let's just skip to the scoreboard since I'm lost"

"No WAIT! Tracy's going off on 3's!!!"

That was the most bizarre game ever. TMac is ice cold (1-8 from 3) all game long....and then hits 4 almost impossible threes...wow. What a choke by the Spurs as well.

The thing is, I don't think this is good for the Rockets. Now TMac will get the green light (even more so) to hoist them up, while everyone forgets that Yao had a great game (for 48 minutes) while TMac (who 47 minutes in was going on 20 points from 24 shots) did not play a good game up to that point at all.

Still amazing, though.

The thing is...TMac has been timid all year. He would pass up shot he'd normally take (the ones where he's single covered, but well within range because of his long arms), and he'd pass it off to Lue/Ward or whoever was the open man, and they would completely fucking miss. I'm ALL for team ball and everything, and distributing the ball, BUT, if the rest of the team is going to be missing shots left and right, in crunch time, I'd DEFINATELY want TMac with the ball in his hands. Regardless of his shooting percentage in the game. TMac is the type of player that could easily have a 6 point turnaround in about 10 seconds if he's feeling it. What he did last night was fucking amazing, and I don't expect it EVER again. What I do want to see though, is if we're ever down by 3-6 pts with under a minute, is have him shoot it if he can get even a LITTLE space (as with that screen with Yao on the Duncan foul four point play). Or on the last shot where the whole Spurs team was backpeddling and he was going to get a shot almost as good as any he'd taken in the last minute.

Anyway, fucking amazing, if we can beat Dallas, we could easily have a fairly long win streak by the time Christmas rolls around.

Damn, that video was painful to watch.

What the hell was Devin thinking driving to the basket? The game was won, no matter how hot T-Mac was. Oh well, Houston needed an out of this world performance and mistakes from our part to overcome us. All things that can be fixed.

T-Mac had an amazing performance, but to get the ball on that turnover, there's so much luck involved in that. Who'd thought Brown would basically fall flat on his face and the ball would roll right to McGrady. And than instead of protecting against the three, guys backpedal inside the arc. Barry did get a hand up but it was too late.

Like I said before, it seemed like he felt he was about to be trapped in the corner and just wanted to avoid that, but still, he fell.

You're up 2. You're going to get FOULED since there's only 11 seconds left.

You stand in a corner and HUG the ball as hard as you can and wait for...
1) Padgett to try to strip the ball
2) Padgett to try to push you out of bounds
3) Padgett to foul you.

You don't do
4) Try to take the ball to the hoop.

Torrent should be around about 3-5 PM.

what about the rule about holding the ball while being closely guarded?

So you want the Rockets to keep sucking like they've been?

TMac making 4 threes in half minute doesn't suddenly make the Rockets a better team. They are still just as flawed as they were before. This doesn't change that, it just ignores what they were doing wrong all game (when they should have been up because the Spurs were really sucking).

I don't think he was taking the ball to the hoop, he was trying to dribble away from the defenders IMO.

That's what it looked like to me. Probably was also expecting more contact.

I wonder what the fans that left are thinking right about now. They skipped out on a once in a lifetime performance.

is it? I thought they had added something similar to the pros.

And isn't the possession arrow supposed to be altered next year?

Edit: What about this?

"The five-second rule still exists today and if a player does not throw the ball in within five seconds, the ball is turned over to the other team. The five-second rule also states that a player who is in-bounds must pass, shoot or dribble within five seconds or he will lose possession of the ball."

:lol

The radio hosts here in Houston for the Drive time show just dropped a "Jordan-Esque" on last night's performance. WOO!

Now, they're saying that we should start calling him TNTMac...:lol. Last time he was on TNT for the Dallas/Rockets game, he scored 48.

Why?

Don't you know those words will summon Loki and his infernal tapes?

Prepare to be bored!

Besides inbounding, the only 5 second rule is if you have your back to the basket for that long while in possession of the ball...

"You have chosen...poorly."

HOUSTON -- Tracy McGrady, the All-Star guard for the Houston Rockets, was arrested for investigation of alleged sexual assault of a 9-year-old boy over the Christmas holidays, the Harris County Sheriff's Office confirmed Monday.

"I don't even celebrate Christmas!"

Hahaha, I knew something like that was coming Miguel. But we all know DM doesn't give a shit about the Rockets(He is Konex-lite) so it still applies. :-p

Edit: :lol :lol @ DM

well, I got that from nba.com

Link? There is so such rule as far as I know O_o

Current: The five-second rule still exists today and if a player does not throw the ball in within five seconds, the ball is turned over to the other team. The five-second rule also states that a player who is in-bounds must pass, shoot or dribble within five seconds or he will lose possession of the ball.

http://www.nba.com/canada/Basketball_U_on_the_13_Rules-Canada_Generic_Article-18061.html

I've read that in various articles on nba.com... that one particularly is an article comparing the original Naismith rules with the modern ones. I've been trying to navigate the actual rule book but it's a bit cumbersome.

I believe the rule you mentioned is an extension of this one, preventing players from just dribbling in the post and doing nothing... it was added in 1999 I think. This is not like the college closely guarded rule. That one if they're even dribbling they can still get called for it right? I agree that's stupid.

I've never read up on the rules, my original question was based on stuff I heard or thought I heard from announcers over the years. I'm not saying what I claimed is exactly right of course, I'm still a bit confused.

why is this funny? Sorry if I'm the only one who finds this confusing. For instance, why would a ballhandler call a timeout while surrounded if there's no limit to how long he could hold it in that situation?

Hey, I was laughing at what Mig said :p

And I guess you'd call a TO if you're not past halfcourt (8 secs) or if you're trapped and don't want to risk a cross-court pass? Don't get me wrong, I'm not arguing with you or anything. It's not like it's a Kobe topic :D

I think Konex is talking about the 'Charles Barkley' rule. If you have your back to the basket and you are dribbling the ball AND are below the three point line then you have 5 seconds to shoot the ball or pass. It doesn't happen much now, players normally just hold the ball on the block and delay dribbling it. I saw it called once last year in a Kings game.

oh, what is the 1 pt safety joke?

Texas got a safety off a failed extra pt attempt cos there was a fumble in the endzone when the defense tried to go the the other way. Since it was a EP attempt, it was a 1 pt safety not 2 pts. I (and pretty much everyone else) never heard of such a thing till last week :lol

In the NFL, the play would be dead once a defender recovers the ball right?
