Deep Discount 20%-off DVD sale through 6/17

Dammit! I just ordered The Wizard of Oz 3-disc special version on Saturday night. That costs like $40. I'm a huge feature whore else I would have just gotten the regular $15 version. Even if I never watch the two older silent films, I just liked the box.

It's already been shipped, so it's too late to cancel.

Edit: Double-dammit. Eternal Sunshine HD is sold out on both DeepDiscount AND DVDPlanet! WTF? What cruel irony doesn't want me to see it in HD? I tried TiVoing it a few months ago and the recording cut off 32 minutes in. The only time I ever saw it was on SDTV before I got my HDTV. Figures.

Oh well. Joke's on Deep Discount. I'm glad they cancelled my order. I just ordered it from RightStuf (who has never lost or damaged a single one of my items) for less than a third of the price. :lol
If all you do is watch old anime DVD releases, sure. I can see how rightstuf is better.

I've done this deal 3-4 times now, and nothing has happened. Even when I got a damaged disc, they were very prompt and courteous about sending me a replacement immediately.

You can still order it under the sale and get the discount. Neither of the HD-DVDs I ordered are in stock, and in the past, it's never taken more than a week for them to restock.

Finally placed my order last night, I left off about 10 things to give people some options for my birthday.

DVD : MACROSS V.07-HELL'S FURY $ 16.10
DVD : EUREKA SEVEN V.07 (SE) $ 29.31
DVD : FANTASTIC CHILDREN V.05 $ 9.74
DVD : FANTASTIC CHILDREN V.06 $ 9.74
BLR : PLANET EARTH-COMPLETE COLLE $ 53.47
BLR : CURSE OF THE GOLDEN FLOWER $ 17.51
DVD : GALAXY RAILWAYS V.06-ETERNA $ 14.51

Merchandise Total: $ 150.38

Here's my DVD Planet order... and hopefully my last from this wretched(ly alluring) sale:

Burden of Dreams (1982) Criterion Collection
$20.77 - Quantity: 1
Shipping Status - In Stock

Spirit of the Beehive (1973) Criterion Collection
$20.77 - Quantity: 1
Shipping Status - In Stock

Save the Green Planet (2005)
$14.36 - Quantity: 1
Shipping Status - Out of Stock

Tale Of Two Sisters (2003)
$13.77 - Quantity: 1
Shipping Status - In Stock

Brak Show
$11.98 - Quantity: 1 (Used)
Shipping Status: Ships Immediately! Cannot be held

Brak Show - Volume Two
$9.98 - Quantity: 1 (Used)
Shipping Status: Ships Immediately! Cannot be held

The thought of picking up Brak never even crossed my mind until I saw those deals; I usually don't buy used discs, but I've heard good things about DVD Planet's quality control in that department.

Ugh. Just spent way too much money. Picked up that Janus Book/Box Set thing (if only I saw Ford's post first!), all 20-some Zatoichi movies, buncha Criterions, finished off my Kurosawa collection, some pre-orders for this summer, etc. I didn't know both "If..." and "Sweet Movie" were out on DVD. **** yeah.

In other news, my order - placed on Friday with free shipping - just arrived safe and sound, much in the same way that every order I've ever placed with Deep Discount DVD has arrived. So, hurrah for contradictory anecdotal evidence. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got exploitation trailers to watch.
It's not contradictory, since as I said, they supposedly upgraded to a more reliable shipper a few years ago.

It's not all I watch, but it's all that was in my last order. And they were nice and courteous to me too, up until three days ago. See what they say if you try buying from them after your third problem.

I am so on-and-off about whether I want to sell this thing or not. On one hand, it's an incredibly good deal for such an astounding collection of films, while on the other, I could probably sell it on ebay, make $100 profit or so (for how much I saved buying it during the last 20%-off sale), buy back the Criterions of the movies I can't live without with extras, and still have plenty of cash left over.

For every great flick I watch from the set (The Grand Illusion, last night), though, it makes it harder to choose the latter.

This movie is so damn awesome. I may finally get around to buying it through this sale.
I haven't even seen it yet; just started getting into Leone a couple months ago. For how brilliant FFDM, TGTBTU, and OUTIW are though, I can't wait.

Bought seasons 1-3 of Arrested Development.

I never thought I'd see the day where I actually bought this series. I've given it a proper watch with some friends who are fans of it this past week and it definitely has an intoxicating charm to it even if I don't find it as funny as most others seem to.

My purchases:
-Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai,
-Road To Perdition,
-Larry Sanders Best-Of (gift, because I bought that shit the day it came out),
-Arrested Development seasons 1 - 3 (ditto).

I would have bought more if my conscience wasn't trying to kill me the whole time.

Does anyone know how long the DVD Planet sale will last? Presumably it'll cut-off when the DDD sale does, but if it can hold out two more days I could use the sale to pick up If...
For what it's worth, it's still active.

All part of this year's present to myself: a domestic dvd collection as I double the number of titles I currently own. :D

That's either one helluva purchase or, depending on how many DVDs you owned beforehand, not so exciting. Which is it? Curious minds want to know!

The DVD Planet sale is slated to end on the 17th along with Deep Discount, although they've both extended their sales an additional week in the past.

I had 21 non-tv non-anime titles beforehand... and I'll have another 22-25 by the time I'm done.
