Defense Grid 2 coming to PS4 and XB1 (Out now)

Anyone managed to beat mission 7 yet? I can't seem to beat it.

Edit:

The difficulty is a bit strange. I can steam roll through a level without a single core lost even though I lost all cores in an earlier level.

I've added you.

I'm stuck on the first split map.
I'm up to I think level 11 and that one was still the toughest so far. That's the only level where I didn't put the majority of my towers on top of boost towers. The key seemed to be to get lots of towers all around the map rather than focusing on maxing out in the chokepoints, which is my usual strategy. Oh, and don't be afraid to use the orbital laser in a pinch. You don't seem to get penalized for it like in the first game.

I get up to wave 29 and then I get hammered, I'll try again tomorrow.

Only game (or anything really) that I've ever kickstarted. I just liked the first one that much, it was one of those games that came out of nowhere for me. Made it through 3-4 levels of DG2 so far and I'm just starting to see the new changes.

Shame that online is a wasteland, atleast on the Xbox. DG Fighters is a really fun and hectic mode to play. Aliens spawning all over your map completely screwing with your turret layout.

Sound of those cores being taken, ugh, so annoying. Other then that, no complaints from me. About half way through campaign (and trophies) and loving every minute of it. Number of leaderboard entries (on PS4) are absymal, though. That price point isn't doing them any favours, even though there's a lot of game in there if you're into this sort of stuff.

I bought it (and Anamoly) on my PS4 but haven't been able to stop playing Destiny long enough to even boot them up. They were both some of my most anticipated games of the Fall too.

I'm about 50% of the way through the main story missions, just playing on normal and getting Gold on every mission before I move on.

The game is very good. I appreciated that it ramped up pretty quickly; often the first 4-5 levels in tower defense games are cake walks but I actually had to put some thought into the layout just a few levels in. Levels also seem to be much better paced: with the first game I could fast forward for rounds at a time once I got my setup together. In DG2, I find myself playing most missions at normal speed almost end to end, usually just fast forwarding at the very end. Already missions are getting quite difficult; I spent all last night trying to crack one before thinking up an optimal strategy while sleeping (!!!), and then rocking it this morning.

I was initially disappointed that the Boost tower was the only all-new tower, but between it and various other upgrades, a lot of depth is starting to emerge. There are several different types of orbital laser to pick from (damage, tower boost, slow down zone, etc.), multiple passive tower boosts are unlocking, upgrade options from the Boost tower, and ways to modify the map using the ship. So rather than upend the tower designs we know, they added ways to differentiate them (kind of like the approach Kingdom Rush went with their sequel).

That latter one is something I had no idea about until the last level I played. Selecting the ship gave me the option to raise several platforms on the map; apparently most missions enable some kind of movement like this. (I see a trophy tied to it).

The chatter goes on a bit long between the AI, but the story is actually interesting, especially the text between levels.

With every level having a bunch of modes, co-op I haven't tried yet, and two more difficulty levels I'll be playing this for a very long time. It's everything I wanted in a Defense Grid sequel, so far.

This is the same for me as well. I Kickstarted it, and got way more than my money's worth. Love it.

Split map was the toughest for me so far as well, and I'm up to level 10 now. It was a bit easier once I got to the end--didn't have the problem you had at 29--but I did have some trouble keeping all my cores even in the last waves, when usually I'm cruising because my towers are super powerful. I restarted a bunch of times when I failed to get past the first few waves without losing a core and settled on using the center chokepoint where the two paths are closest together as a huge concussion tower killzone, which you need to deal with swarms. I'm thinking, though, that perhaps what I need are more cannons to deal with the boss aliens, and also more early teslas to knock out shields on enemies (especially on the lower path--not sure the upper path even gets shielded enemies).

Didn't get to build up my missile base until past the halfway point, either.

If there are any other Steam users in this thread, I could use some friends on my leaderboards. Feel free to add me and/or post your own:

Right now I'm just focused on gold-medalling the campaign, but eventually I'll want some competition to push my scores higher.

Ah! Yes, you are the one on my friends list that is at the top of the leaderboards. Sorry to say but you put a target on your back, and I ended up beating a handful of your scores.

Got this in the recent PSN sale but nobody else in the world is playing! Can't get that stupid multiplayer trophy argh somebody help me

I have the game, but I haven't actually played it apart from a bit of the demo. lol Are we likely to be able to get Gold easily? I sent you a request.

Awesome game.Finished in the ps4 and xbox one.I wish a dlc for more missions :(

The price in the launch of the game was an error for me too expensive.
