Delta Airlines releases meme themed safety video

These "funny and clever" safety videos were stupid, straight out of the gate. Stop morphing everything into ironic t-shirt humor. Just do your safety presentation and get on with it.

despite memes' generally low shelf life this wouldn't be too bad if the timing and delivery wasn't godawful, it's just a half-smirking dude delivering a standard speech with random, overly long cuts to le random meme references

Delta is one of the worst American airlines.

US Airways, American Airlines, and Delta are the worst. Next up is United Airlines.

Actually, all of them are bad. I like Virgin, Air Canada (but it's getting much worse), Cathway Pacific, and other International Airlines. The issue is I can't fly most of those to get around the US.

It's surprising how much American passengers are willing to give up to save a couple bucks on each flight. If everyone paid just a bit more, we could have comfy seats again.

Urgh, almost smashed my monitor.

Ah, thanks to the video description we can learn the vid features such renowned celebrities as "Double Rainbow Guy" and "Slow Mo Guy" .

i dont know why you guys are so down on this video, it was great.

what im weirded out by are these blendtec versions of this video. i dont understand that

Dancing baby from Ally McBeal, banana.gif, keyboard cat, dramatic golpher, Harlem shake. roomba cat thing or whatever, that stupid talking orange, Nyan Cat... these are some relevant meme's. The video is kinda cute, but it is like the producers forgot what year we are in.

That aside, the execution is horrible. Savefety instruction - forced meme - savety instruction - forced meme.

Like the charlie bit my finger meme didn't make sense in the context and was just shoehornes there for the sake of having it in there.

Guys, go find your happy place. There was nothing wrong with the video.

The guy speaks the way he does because they have to speak slow and clear so passengers, foreign and domestic, can understand what's being said.

The video was well shot (as they all have been), got the information out, and if you're a little less angry it was halfway entertaining. They have a rotation of these videos they use on various flights to keep it interesting. Way more passengers pay attention to the instructions now than before even though Delta now has to compete with tablets and phones before the plane is in the air.

Good for Delta for trying something creative in a world filled with so much salt.

You have to admit it was impressive he bit his finger through breathing mask.

Delta is slowly becoming Soul Plane.

I never did believe the "oxygen is flowing even if the bag isn't inflating" spiel. Is that actually true or just to pacify panicked passengers?

Some of you all are too tough on this video. It's got dated memes, for sure, but it was still pretty good.

I think I still prefer their 80s Version better. I saw that one last year when I was on my honeymoon. I'll admit it, I lol'd.

I was on a flight yesterday and watched one of their videos. It does the trick. Mostly nobody pays attention but the passengers around me seemed to because it was different.

Man, I think this video must mark a turning point in my life.

I've finally hit the age where instead of getting really upset at old/misused/whatever memes, I just think it's really funny that other people are.

Anyway I thought it was cute, and it does its job remarkably well. You watch every single piece of safety information intently to see what the next joke is, even if you're just looking to get angry. Airlines are constantly trying to find new ways to make people pay attention to their safety instructions.

Well, where is it? I saw nyan cat but not keyboard cat.

edit: lol the intro, I missed it for some reason.

OP's link has a timestamp in it to jump ahead to the 35 second mark, which is why you (and me! and others.) missed it the first time

I thought it was cool. After spending all of last Sunday on Delta planes, this is much better than the dry presentations they usually give.
