They felt like it?
Maybe they had planned on having more body types? (C,D,E)
They wanted to let you fit other types of characteristics (like the other guy said, the head) with all body types for more customizability, and having gender labels would make it seem weird or imply a restriction to only male or female characteristics. Making it A/B does not imply that restriction.

There could be many more very plausible reasons that aren't solely due to "wokeness"

First you say that don't matter, so now matter? If this change don't affect the gameplay perspective so do the same not changing at all.

But I guess everyone here know how this conversation will end.

Note that it's not just the resolution that's lower. I think the tesselation and/or parallax occlusion mapping are toned down, as is the lighting model, in performance mode. I haven't looked all that closely, but the State of Play footage shows pretty downgraded graphics (still looks good to me though):

This game will be 10/10 for me due to the atmosphere and my love for it. I can see it getting 8 or 9/10 though because of the wonky AI and the UI. I will play the shit out of it though. <3

Yeah I'm intrigued by the graphics, but it's extremely clunky to my liking, and I don't like souls games in general. Now watch how I'll get torn apart for saying that. :messenger_fearful:

I've never seen anyone get torn apart because of that. Rather people who make demands that the game be adjusted to them are the ones that get torn apart, and rightfully so.

Nah you wont get torn apart from that, a lot of people dont like them.
I do, and would love to play it. Valhalla will fill my needs for the next few weeks anyway lol.

I respect the games/genre, but they just don't click for me. Worlds feel too lifeless and feels too old/direct game that you expect from PS1/PS2 era with very minimal storytelling.

Hope it's good though, I'm a massive fan of AC, I can say as a series it's my favorite overall. Getting it maybe after Spider-Man MM, not sure if I'll go gold edition or just base game.

Well you know i love Odyssey, like yourself, and yeah i'm only about 5 hours in but really liking it so far.

When did I say it didn't matter at all? I said it was inconsequential to your enjoyment, but clearly the devs did it for a reason that does not strictly have to do with an agenda. Like I said, it could simply be to increase the compatibility between customization options or something else.

Not everything to do with gender in games is because of a woke agenda as some users here seem to think

What's happening is completely obvious and you're contorting like a pretzel with your attempt to downplay it as some kind of technical thing. Someone earlier suggested I was dropped on my head (presumably by my Body Type A guardian) for thinking there are 2 genders.

"Increase compatibility between customization options" = censoring the 2 genders so as to not offend the Bruce Jenner types, i.e. the "I'm not a woman, I'm a man with body type A" whose mission in life is to scream it from the rooftops and investigate anyone not euphoric enough.

I'm going to be as shameless as you guys and play my minority card. You're invalidating my lived experiences, bigot.

edit: I'm no longer discussing this so as to not derail the thread further, but feel free to PM me if you have something to say to me, although you'll forgive my skepticism of your ability to produce anything of substance.

What I see here is everytime someone put that in place you came with that 'is not woke' premisse. I don't care if the game is woke or not, but either them are annoying by saying every game is woke and you saying none games are woke.

Those changes you mention, nothing this matter to the gameplay, but still here you are saying is not matter, but explaing 'why' they change something that nobody cares.

You need to pick one case to case my friend.

Lmao what's happening is not "obvious". I'm saying there are a plethora of reasons why the devs made this change that aren't due to a woke agenda. They may well have done it due to a woke agenda, but it's not "obvious". This site has a tendency to take extreme offense to anything that involves changing "muh 2 genders" into anything else no matter what the reason is.

Maybe if you used your brain for more than 2 seconds you would see the many reasons why the dev would opt for a simple A/B option, but of course you default to making it a political issue.

You would also come to the conclusion that if they really cared about not offending people, they would maybe offer more than 2 options? That's what all other "woke" games have done, so if that was their objective, then they would have done the same.
 
I have no idea how I'm gonna decide between fidelity or performance mode.

The fidelity mode footage in the OP, watching at 4K, looks like probably the best looking game I've ever seen.

I also love the RT effects in the Spider-Man games' fidelity mode. 60 FPS is awesome man these graphics....

Pre-ordered it, leaving out spidey wait for a sale. Want something fresh on a new console, spidey is more or less the same as 2018.

This game looks good, I'm glad people are liking it. I'll probably get it but I'm gonnae get fucking bodied by it lol. My friends are all into the Souls games so maybe they could help me out.

It all stands out like a sore thumb. The funny thing is, most of the time the woke options will be used by white dudes trying to be funny.

Didn't find the overall story as good as Odyssey personally, but others seemed to have enjoyed this one more. The moment to moment game play is very similar, and some of the smaller tales are quite wacky.
