Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax gets western release

I think they saw Sword Art Online Hollow Fragment at #1 at PSN top release for 2014 so they also want to cash in ;)

Buying again to support the western release :)

wait wait wait, hold on, let me first take a sip of water so I do a spit take.

...
*spits out water* Holy Shit, WTF.

Never thought this would see a release in the West, like that we're also getting a retail release in the US at least.

Thank you SEGA & Sony, now if we can also somehow get the recent Phantasy Star games, that'd be great. I'm grateful for (and will take) the Yakuza and Fighting Waifus!

I've been on the fence of importing this from Japan, maybe, sometime (importing got too expensive for me and I noticed for most games, it takes away a bit of my personal enjoyment if everything is Japanese, even if it's playable). This title, I never ever expected this to get localised in any form or way.

Importers - is it good? I'm not a fan of any of the anime and game series featured in it (apart from Virtua Fighter and Valkyria Chronicles and some mild interest in Sword Art Online), so I'd be there for gameplay and style and less for crossover and fandom dreams. It's by the Melty Blood creators, iirc?

It's a pretty simple fighter where playing defensively is more rewarding than brute forcing your way through. All characters have invincibility frames for several attacks too which makes for a gameplay where mind trickery is important. Like Rock, Paper, Scissors.

Puyo Puyo Tetris and the Tony Taka Shining next, please!

Very happy to see this making it, I've wanted to get it, but other issues have gotten in the way of this and other imports...

Really, I love the "last years" of sony systems. The odd quirky JP releases always seem to flow then.

Here we go!

So we're getting this along with J-Stars this year.

Suddenly, the chances of a Super Robot Wars game getting localized doesn't seem so slim anymore.

So, I don't watch much anime. Out of all these I'm only familiar with Oreimo.

What others would you guys recommend I watch so I don't end up using only Kirino all the time?

1% Sad that this is getting localized, because importing the Vita version was going to be my excuse to also get Puyo Puyo Tetris with it. Guess that's not happening now.

The other 99% of me is stoked. Thought there was zero percent chance of this ever coming out, and not only is it happening, but we are getting a PHYSICAL version of the game? It's probably a de facto Amazon/Gamestop exclusive, but it's great the option is out there for people.

Durarara!

Wow, didn't expect this to happen. I saw most of the shows of the characters in the last year and a half. This is one of the few games that I'd buy where being familiar with the characters pushes me to buy a game (the other being a big FG fan).

Haven't been keeping up with this game, so how is it competitively now?

Also, it's a bit disappointing that this doesn't have online cross-play.

Well they're cutting characters out of J-Stars, so they probably could do the same for SRW if they cared enough.

If you had ever actually played an SRW with even a passing semblance of understanding the story, you would know why that statement is ridiculous. It would be like trying to write Bart Simpson out of The Simpsons.

I'm gonna main Yukina from Strike the Blood because senpai, this is our fight.

Durarara (and then watch season 2 which is airing right now)

and A Certain Magical Index are my favorites.

Edit:

forgot 'Devil is a Part Timer' also has an assist in this so watch that too!

I haven't found an effective way to take my tv everywhere I go yet and I cant stand sticks.
Right, but doesn't address my issues nor other people's I'd imagine.

Can't believe a PS4 port would be too difficult and there's really a lack of competition on there thus far. Injustice and Guilty GEAR only IIRC.

The hell? Not that I'm against it or anything but how did THIS of all things get localised?

And it's Sega? Heavily licensed?! THEN WHERE THE HELL IS MY GOD DAMN PSO2?!

Anyway, awesome this is getting brought over. I'd consider picking it up if it wasn't DD only in Europe, especially since Vita space is scarce. I may consider importing.

Ah, thanks for the summary. Might that make a good game for multiplayer with less fighting-game experienced friends then? Most are intimidated by the more technically complex 2D fighting games. I personally like more defensive and counter-based gameplay in fighting games, which would also be a plus.

Oh fair enough then. You could probably do the latter though, even if you had to cut scenes wholesale.

I'm always happy to see random ass Japanese titles get localised. If something as niche as this can make it over to the West, then surely the chances of more sought after games to be brought over increase as a result. That's my logic anyway.

I'd try it if Dokuro was a playable character.

Pretty surprising though, could we get super heroine chronicle while we're at it? Bamco?

If you are interested in support characters as well, watch Kino No Tabi (Kino's Journey), Spice And Wolf and play Valkyria Chronicles (you can ignore the anime). Toradora! Is supposedly good as well, but I haven't watched the anime and only started the manga.

Others could suggest more, but that's from me.

This is an odd question to ask, but since the durarara guy is in this, does that indicate as to why he wont show up in the Devil survivor 2 western 3ds release?

Gundam Vs extreme is the only answer. The most popular fighting game never released in the west.

Gundam VS is fun as hell and I'm sure it would sell reasonably well in the West. After importing it I understand why a lot of people call for this game to come here :/
