Dental Advice: How long does a periodontal ligament sprain take to heal?

I was at the dentist a week ago and she said I had a high filling done recently that was causing pain when I bite down because of a periodontal ligament bruise. It's been a week since my visit and I'm still dealing with some pain. Does it need more time?

Is the filling still high or did she file it down? If she did, do you think it's gotten better? When do you feel the pain? All the time or just when you're chewing/eating?

If she adjusted the filling a week ago, it should be feeling much better than it used to.

She filed it down. The pain only occurs when chewing. It got better for the first 3-4 days but now it's acting up a bit in the last 2 days.

most of the time it only takes a few days and the pain is gone completely. normally patients feel a relief as soon as the filling is corrected. i would wait another week and if the pain doesn't get better i would make an appointment.

I looked up some articles and some says weeks others say days it's pretty confusing. Also, I will admit I should have eaten softer foods and avoided that side of the mouth. It felt like it was getting better.

Hmm, is it the same type of pain you had before? As in, a dull pain that sort of radiates around the area? If so, it sounds like the filling is still a little high. You should go back to your dentist and get it checked out again.

from my personal experience if it takes more than two or three weeks its more likely to be a reaction of the pulp to the filling material (composite).

It's pretty much identical from what I can tell.

Talked to my GF's mother who is a dentist - her response was that if it isn't better within two weeks you might need to look into other causes as to why it is hurting.

Got it adjusted a 2nd time on tuesday and it hasn't gone away. The pain seems to be on one particular spot on the filling. Not sure what this means but my dentist said it was such a shallow filling it couldn't be anything else but a wrong bite. She said if it doesn't get better in a week she will replace the filling but I might call earlier since it's not getting any better.
