So far looks like

Turkey
Mashed taters
gravy
Stuffing w/ sausage
sweet potato casserole w/ marshmallows
Green Bean Casserole
those small dinner rolls with puffy tops you can only get this time of year
Fruit Salad/Ambrosia
REAL cranberries, none of the disgusting canned gelatanous stuff
pumpkin pie
Peanut butter pie

Ham Rolls and cracker and cheese plate for appetizer

I'll probably be hitting the gym for a couple hours then head to chipotle for a double chicken burrito bowl and Boston market for 2 large turkey meals with red potatoes and green beans.

This is my typical after gym meal.

Man, you don't get it.

I don't know. One day your parents will be gone and what will you have in this world? I mean, your mom sounds like she just wants to see you, her son, that she carried in her womb for 9 months, bathed, cleaned, fed, and watched for years. Your mom loves you and you're just going to act like an angsty teen?

It's not about whether you like to watch the parade -- I'm sure they know you hate it, but it's about spending time together.

One day, if and when you have children of your own, you will get it and you may even look back and bawl your eyes out at how stupid you were.

The fuck is this??? I don't hate my parents and I see them at least twice a week. Get the fuck outta here with this bullshit. Fucking act like you know me. Piss off.

Nice. How much do you weigh? Is that every day, even on cardio day? Or are you doing same-routine-full-body each day?

Charlie is a bit harsh but he's got a point.

I thought your write-up of your traditional Thanksgiving Day sounded wonderful. You and your whole family being together and enjoying silly little traditions together sounds very pleasant and heart-warming. Sure, it's not the most exciting thing in the world, but I suspect as you get older you'll come to appreciate those things more and more. And as Charlie said, if you have eventually kids you'll really view your post in a different light.

And for the record, that post still makes my mom laugh hysterically to this day because it really EXACTLY describes how our Thanksgiving Day goes.

Beef jerky
Wild Turkey
Cranberry juice
Chips

No kimchi?

I've actually run out. I guess I should go to the store. It turns out my actual Thanksgiving meal will be prime rib, baked potatoes, broccoli, asparagus, corn, and kimchi. But it's just what I'm making for me.

My moms typically makes:

Turkey
Honey Baked Ham
Baked Mac & Cheese (Black and Cheese)
Cornbread Stuffing
Potato Salad
Collard/Mustard Greens with Hamhocks
Candied Yams
Bread Rolls (either a specific store bought one, or homemade rolls if she's feelin' it)
Pumpkin Pie
Sweet Potato Pie

No Turkey this year since we aren't going home to South Cak. Nice meal with the wife and kids:

Fried chicken
Small Honey Baked Ham
Mac & Cheese
Cornbread Dressing
Collard Greens and Spinach
Candied Yams

The wife and daughter will do some type of dessert.

Thanksgiving-Alone GAF here so I'll probably be eating at the Waffle House with the hobos that want free coffee.

If anyone can't get a traditional meal for some reason, I recommend getting a Wawa gobbler. It's basically stuffing, cranberry jelly, turkey, and gravy all in one delicious sandwich.

Holy shit..... This will be my leftover sandwich. The best part of Thanksgiving to me is finding new stuff to do with leftovers.

Vegans FTW:

Tofurky
vegetarian "celebration roast"
Vegan green bean casserole
potato salad
homemade stuffing
mac and daiya cheese
Pineapple cake
Some form of pie for dessert
among other things

chicken
mashed potatoes
brown and serve rolls
pumpkin pie
homemade mac and cheese
green bean and asparagus casserole
I think that might be it, maybe another pie.

Making turkey sandwiches with leftovers is one of the greatest things ever. Especially using a roll and cranberry sauce. So good.

The wife and I don't have any family anywhere near us, and traveling isn't an option just for the holiday. Also neither one of us is really big on turkey, so we honestly usually just order Chinese. Good times.

A massive turkey, homemade mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, stuffing, and lots of other dishes. Me at the head of the table, and I'll do lots of cooking with my 3 year old on my shoulders this year. Minus the turkey, I don't want to blow his mind.

Attendees usually included lots of people, but this year it's just my nuclear family of 4, my mother-in-law, sister-n-law and brother-in-law. Simple, which is fine considering the infant ejected from my wife's uterus 8 1/2 weeks ago.

+1 for Vegan Thanksgiving (we had ours on Sunday)

Homemade Tofurkey
Stuffing
Corn
Green Beans
Sweet Potatoes
Homemade Gravy of Awesome
Homemade Cornbread
Homemade Cranberry Relish with apples and raspberries

Pumpkin Trifle (pumpkin pudding with raisins, graham cracker/ginger snap crumbles, whipped coconut cream)
Homemade gooey mocha brownies
Homemade pumpkin spice glazed nuts (pecans, almonds, cashews, ginger)
Homemade Spiced apple wine (in-laws make wine)

I feel like there was probably more that I'm not remembering. Heck of a lot of cooking all weekend, and sadly not many leftovers.

It's weird when I see people preface their food choices with the word Homemade.
For a Thanksgiving meal I just assume 95% of everything posted will be homemade.

Astonishing imagery accompanied my reading of this post.

You are going to be eating turkey until new years. LOL

Awesome menu though!

I've seen more than one mention of tofurkey - to each their own.

We had ours back a few weeks in Canada but it's usually a variation (sometimes all) of the following:

-turkey
-cranberry/orange sauce
-mashed potatoes
-mashed sweet potatoes/yams
-green bean casserole
-stuffing with lots of sausage meat
-glazed carrots
-brussels sprouts (I prefer them fried with bacon but if they're plain they make good candidates for gravy slathering)
-homemade biscuits or buns

And then gravy on every goddamn thing.

Because my son has Wednesday off from school I have to take the day off as well. We'll wake up early and head to the barbershop @ 9 then come home take a shower and get on the road. It takes 2.5+ hours up I-95 to get to my parents house. It's probably the most boring stretch of I-95 there is (except for the bridge over Lake Marion) and I'll be listening to podcasts the entire way as usual. My son will be playing games or watching a movie on my iPad also per usual. Once we get there I'll probably relax on the deck and read my book (The Reality Dysfunction - Hamilton) while my son plays or we will go out and play soccer or baseball in the yard.

Thursday morning my son will watch the parade unless I forget about it. Football starts at noon and about then my mom we be up to start cooking. This is also about the time my sister will come over with her boyfriend and his daughter. I don't have any interests in common with him but we'll watch football and drink my dad's canned beer. We will talk about how our fantasy teams are doing (i just got in the playoffs, my dad is 1-10) Dinner will be early probably around 5-ish about the same time my ex-wife will show up, she has to work at midnight which is part of the reason we're having dinner early, other part is we usually do that anyway.

Thanksgiving dinner is in the dining room we only use for this and christmas dinner:
  • Turkey
  • Ham
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Cranberry Sauce
  • Mashed Potatoes
  • Yams
  • Au Gratin Potatoes
  • Green Bean Casserole
  • Corn on the Cob
  • Mac & Cheese
  • Biscuits
  • some type of pasta salad
  • Salad
  • Wine or Sweet Tea
. For Dessert: Pumpkin Pie a la mode, Cherry pie or Apple Pie. Maybe we'll all play a Wii game after because the family is together...depends on how early everyone leaves, or maybe we'll watch a movie once my son is asleep. Friday should be nice (70 degrees and clear according to Siri just now) I will try to order some christmas presents in the morning on Amazon if there are some good deals and the rest of the day will be riding bikes or something outside and probably putting up Christmas decorations.

Saturday is the Carolina-Clemson game. I don't have tickets this year so we'll be home watching it. Sunday will be mass and I'll be driving back home, that's the extent of what my holiday will be god willing.

Thanksgiving is without a doubt my most favorite holiday of the year.
