Destiny - hollyshit, what the fuck?

You don't need a special reward, bosses drop items and they will drop with light level according to your max which is light level 170 for you at lvl 34.

Strikes, as all content in the game, has a cap on the damage you do and you will still take appropriate damage from enemies, even if you outlevel them.

Note that your actual lvl of 34 does not matter in showing the strength of your character, it is simply a tool for unlocking missions or the requirement to wear items now.
Your light level is what matters. Go into one of those strikes and get killed (by an actual enemy in the strike area aka darkness zone) and it will show you the "recommended light level" of the enemy who killed you. I think legacy strike playlist has like 160? Not sure.

They did NOT remove matchmaking. This is pure and utter misinformation. The Strike Playlist and every single strike on the director map HAS matchmaking just like it always had.
The Strike Playlist is ALL strikes of Year 1 and not just "one strike" and you can still choose EVERY YEAR 1 STRIKE ON THE MAP.

Except they didn't remove matchmaking

No, the OP is just simply wrong.

Removed matchmaking? What the fuck are you talking about?

You bet your ass they did

I haven't played this game religiously, but when I played months ago. When I click on Strikes, there used to be couple of options. And when I panover, it showed what I will get form this specific strike. Legendary item and all the cool stuff etc.

Right now, there is only 1 strike I see, when I pan over, I see jack shit. There is Vanguard Gear, Reputation and XP.

where did the strike the other strike playlist go?

That could be completely true but I'd probably freak out all the same if I saw those screens. The entire setup looks purpose built to make you feel like a schmuck for not buying into all of the DLC.

This. It's obviously designed to show you everything you are "missing" without the DLC. The Crucible screen in particular since the actual size of the selections are much smaller and below the other choices, it implies a sense of inferiority to your options.

Wow OP charged headlong into misinformation and got mad at nothing. This was truly spectacular, especially this part.

what the fuck? I just want to play the content that I paid for.

It's all there OP, everything you paid for. You can buy the expansion and keep going with the new content too, if you'd like.

Because Destiny sold super well and people continue to throw good money after bad, means developers are going to continue to fuck us in the future.

Fucking wonderful.

And I'm really enjoying TTK for what its worth. Definitely a far better game than vanilla or vanilla plus both previous DLCs.

Just as its not now and has never been an mmo.

It all depends upon who you ask and what the issue is. Bungie never calls it an MMO though, because it isn't one. But lets repeat this in every Destiny thread just to be sure ;p

Oh I'm not saying it doesn't look like you have nothing to do haha. The new layout is clearly designed to scream LOOK AT ALL THIS STUFF YOU COULD DO. But I can't blame them there, they want you to buy their game.

What are you talking about "Strike"? The strike playlists that contain ALL of the strikes? They're condensed into one, as stated MANY times. It's the highest level one that was available. AKA the only one you care about anyways.

Not to sound like I'm throwing accusations around, but it seems you don't even know some of the game's concepts, or at least are getting them mixed up.

I give up, you are just a troll/idiot.

I play Destiny every single day. They have not removed matchmaking.

I don't agree with the MMO argument, but the takeaway here is that the map and gametype content is still here. I don't know about purchasing year 1 gear.

Trials of Osiris and Iron Banner may lock you out. But we don't know.

Your post implies exactly that there is a hivemind switching between arguments. Its fundamental wrongness bothers me.

Argument is singular. Implications that the argument is switching rather than the people. Sounds like a hivemind to me.

I don't like Destiny threads because it's just a mass of drive-by shitposts from both sides with maybe one or two posts per page actually addressing the issue. Call it my pet peeve or whatever.
not sure how it implies that there is a hivemind. it says "i like how destiny is an mmo whenever the argument suits it". it being destiny, the argument suiting it being benefiting it. there's nothing saying anything about people when it's about the game.

if you don't like destiny threads, i guess you should stay out of them. frankly, i find them pretty entertaining.

In the past, you had multiple choices for strikes with different level requirements. That has been consolidated into a single playlist.

As far as I'm aware, the rewards are equivalent to the highest level year 1 strike playlist, but perhaps someone could clarify.

Your vanilla, Dark Below and House of Wolves missions are all there. You can play them right now.
You also have access to the legacy strike playlist that has all year 1 strikes in it.
Crucible wise you have access to the legacy playlists where Bungie has put some gamemodes together into one bigger list so as to keep the (now much smaller obviously) Year 1 community that didn't move into TTK better together and allow proper matchmaking from a smaller player pool.

You are missing daily story missions because they now award Legendary Marks which you have no use for cause you can not reach lvl 40 which is the requirement for the items you can buy with them.

Nightfall strikes also award marks and have no buff anymore,so again they are not available to a Year 1 player because he can not achieve lvl 40.

You still have the same content you had before, all the missions you paid for, all the PvP maps, both raids and Prison of Elders. All there.

That is not the point, I can't do it as daily and weekly, which is useless in this shit game, pop is castrated as well, why are you defending this shit?

Fucking wonderful.

No one is getting "fucked" people want a dessert they didn't order or intend to pay for. They still have a full plate but the attention is focused on the new content. These kind of blanket statements do nothing to address actual issues folks may have.

The level scaling is different but all the old content is still there. You don't need gear to reach year 1 cap of lv 34 so the end game is pretty much getting legacy exotics for year 1 players. I think new greens drop with a capped light level for them now too?

Is the old content still there? Yes.
Can you play it the same as before? Mostly.

No they didn't. In fact it forces matchmaking on you. You get the same rewards as before also with the exception of vanguard marks which don't exist anymore, strikes never had legendary item rewards guaranteed on competition.

Wait wait wait, yout can't play ANY of those modes? How are people ok with this? That's ridiculous. Why don't they have playlists for people without the expansions?

The rewards are for level 20 if you do not have TTK

Sorry I am keep typing single strike instead of strike playlist. but yeah there is lvl 20 strike playlist. And when I click on individual strike, I can't change the lvl to hard. Everything is on easy. And when I pan over each strike individually, majority with reward +Experience. That's all.

The item system was reworked a bit, but the simple answer is Yes.

OP you are getting STRIKES and STRIKE PLAYLISTS mixed up.

The screen you saw before had different level playlists. These contained ALL STRIKES randomly selected you play in order. They were condensed to one list at the higher level. The gear is locked out until level 20, but the gear itself is actually highest level, EXACTLY how it was before.

STRIKES THEMSELVES are available separately on the map to choose.

BOTH methods of playing strikes STILL HAVE MATCHMAKING.

I'll load up my vanilla game and see if I'll sell my copy cuz I'm not buying TTK or any DLC. I paid $10 for the game though.

Unless you're talking about the nightfall strike which the TDB and HoW expansions locked out non expansion buyers anyway so it's no surprise TTK did the same thing, the Tiger, Eagle or whatever strike playlist has always had Vanguard Gear and Reputation as rewards and nothing more.

You haven't bought TTK, you're limited to year 1 gear.

It doesn't matter as your level is only an indication of what you have unlocked. Your light level matters. Also the level 20 playlist will reward 170 light gear which is the max light level for year 1.

The rewards are for level 20 if you do not have TTK

Wrong.

They're light level 170, which is the max for level 34. Try again.

This line of Bungie defence needs to stop. Destiny was never marketed as an MMO. In fact Bungie went out of their way to avoid giving it that label. So to turn round and blame people for the confusion Bungie created is deeply unfair.
It had mmo tendencies though (weekly resets, faction reps, caps, raids). The alpha screamed "there is no story it's going to be about end game grind"

Is the "single player" stuff still playable? Just curious for future reference. Though I've probably played all I'm ever gonna play of Destiny.

It's pretty scummy what the Activision/Sony partnerships have turned Bungie into. I thought I would give Destiny another chance after hearing how great the new patch was. Turns out you can't do any of the meaningful shit you could do weeks ago before TTK. Bungie took away the important parts of the game for people who didn't shell out more money. I was suckered in a year ago with the 100$ digital deluxe, and now its basically worthless.

The real "content" in Destiny is the stuff like strikes, nightfalls and heroics where you get most of your gear. Bungie took away content that you used to be able to play. Level 20 strikes have been worthless since launch.

I will never buy another Bungie product. It really hurts to say because they used to be my favorite developer. I can't believe there are people here defending this anti-consumer bullshit, absolutely sickening.

Exactly this. Please take a few moments to see how the new leveling system works. Toy see 20, but that's your character level required, not light level in terms of atk/def.

For the love of god, read the thread.

Are we going to get a thread about this every week when someone finds out? Pretty sure the last one went up to 20 odd pages or something silly. It's like when any MMO expansion comes out, stuff changes on your menu screen but everything is still there, deal with it.

But it's not an MMO! It just shares 90% of things with MMOs.

:P

For the matter at hand, does it really matter whether or not Destiny is "officially" an MMO? In either case, all players have access to the content they paid for, so I don't see the need to distinguish between the two.

Actually the best year 1 end gear is still all available to you.

Welcome to bungie's and activision's greed, wanna know the worst thing OP? There's probably a crapload of people here who will defend their practice..

A GAF thread about what the expansion didn't give non-buyers and whether it's an MMO or not...?

Seriously GAF, come the F on.

You can still do strikes however you do not have access to nightfall and heroic strikes since you won't be powerful enough to complete them. So if you want to play year 2 content you need to buy TTK.
