Destiny House of Wolves will Have no New Raid

So the issue then becomes they made the requirement to get to a raid an issue for casual players. I think the raids are fun and all but going by those trophy stats, it seems that while the raids may be the best content for the game, the majority of players are not seeing them. It then makes sense to why they would cut a new raid and instead opt to add more things that are accessible without the requirements for a raid. Sucks for those who have been waiting for a new raid though.

The issue is that people don't finish any games they buy. Look at any other game on your trophy list and I can almost guarantee that the majority of players didn't even make it past the halfway mark. By making raids an endgame activity, you've already guaranteed that most players aren't going to see them at all. 80% of players have never raided, but most of them aren't even still playing the game anyhow.

According to PSN trophies, only 20 percent of Destiny players have ever completed a raid.

PSN trophies count every player who has ever started the game. It would be more interesting to see how many currently active Destiny players completed a raid, and I would argue that's probably a lot higher than 20%. Everyone else has probably quit already.

I've been out of the Destiny game for awhile now. Does anyone mind catching me up on why so many people are excited about the Fatebringer buff? Isn't it assumed most weapons will be getting a bump in their stats with House of Wolves?? Forgive my ignorance please.

There hasn't been an upgrade path for legendaries.

Yeah that's the good thing with the LFG sites, you know you're getting committed bastards from there who've put in the little extra effort to find a raid group.

Typing in an lfg website doesn't show commitment, it shows utilizing the only available option for the vast majority of players. As a purely random lfg website user for all raiding, I'd bet big money there would be close to no difference in "quality" level if they implemented a tool in game. It's a totally hypothetical argument your making, and meanwhile it's a known fact that grouping with randoms is a major hassle in the game. Hypothetical problems vs. very real problems. The real ones should be addressed first, sorry.

Only 20% of Destiny players on PS4 have completed a raid according to the last time I looked at trophy stats. That's a terrible statistic for a content piece that's supposed to be the single unique pillar of the game.

According to PSN trophies only 20% of players have completed a Raid,
But only 15% of players have fully upgraded an exotic weapon.

It doesn't bother me personally, as I wasn't even able to play one raid in my time playing the game because of the requirement of everyone to be invited or on your friends list. I had a few friends that played it, but we could never get enough for a full raid.

A friend and I were actually talking about the game on Friday (and talked about why they haven't announced the new pack... good timing, apparently) and we talked about how we felt they needed to loosen the restrictions on raids or release more content for those who aren't into the raid scene to bring some of those players back. This seems to cater to that crowd. I'm actually interested to hear more about this mode and it seems like something him, his friend and I could actually play together.

Yep. There are a couple of GAFFERS who have admitted to not doing any raid cause of the effort of gathering a group. This would definitely cater to that audience.

Lol, fuck this. What the fuck does Bungie think they're doing? No raid is just squandering the tiny bit of good will they have left. The age of Bungie is done etc.

The problem is that the only people even playing anymore are those doing end-game content, so expansions should be tailored to their needs. Brand new Destiny players are few and far between, especially ones that bothered to pay for DLC.

At this point it feels like bungie is intentionally making the worst decisions possible for some kind of grand experiment on squandering good will they garnered during the Halo days.

Every time they have a press release or PR statement it gets worse.

This is coming from someone who looooooves Destiny.. I'm talking like 500+ hours over three characters.

Horde mode sounds fucking great but at the expense of the ONE thing that makes Destiny great.

/sigh

Fatebringer is an extremely powerful legendary handcannon, which could only be acquired from one boss in the first raid, the Vault of Glass. When Dark Below came out, weapon damage increased for many weapons, but Vault of Glass weapons like Fatebringer were not upgraded. Despite that, Fatebringer has continued to be one of the most highly-regarded weapons in the game, with many player favoring it over newer weapons with higher damage stats. However, some players had concluded that with House of Wolves coming out, it was probably finally going to become obsolete. But if it's getting upgraded, that means it's going to continue to be a beast.

TL;DR - It's been an amazing gun all the way through Dark Below, even though it didn't get upgraded like many other weapons. Now that it's getting upgraded, it's going to continue to be amazing.

Seriously, and I thought MS were fools to let Bungie get away. To say they are a shadow of their former selves would be an understatement.

I think if they were still under Microsoftt they would never be in this mess. I think Microsoft knew how to keep Bungie in line and know how to use their strengths. Bungie going solo gave them too much freedom.

Depending on RNGusus I will play this and I will love it. Hopefully none of these call of duty zombie lovers are lol because that's about as repetitive as it gets. Looking forward to anything new in this game.

I cant wait for Deej to make a condescending post about how the user base doesnt actually know what they want and why they are wrong for wanting a raid.

Well I was already bored to tears with this game, but loved the people I played it with. Hopefully this is more ammo to get them to focus on something else.

Whats $40 when it's the only game you play?

I wasn't knocking the price. I was meaning that it's not a frivolous $5 purchase so, like you say, the people who are likely to buy it are the people who are spending all their time in the game. That's also most likely to be the people who have completed the raid.

The person I quoted made it seem like it shouldn't matter if theres no raid since so few people have completed it, when really I would expect a far higher number of season pass holders to have completed the raid than people who only own the base game.

Wut?

Nope. Not even a winkle in my tinkle if there's no raid. No thanks Bungie. Sorry?

EDIT: I can't comprehend this. Does anyone disagree that raids are the best thing going for Destiny?

Players complained about too little content in Dark Below. Bungie's answer: oh here's even less content in our next expansion!

Bungie can just fuck right off with this bullshit.

That would require Bungie's PR team to actually respond to the concerns. Based on recent trends, they will simply refuse to comment for the next couple weeks until they cannot avoid it anymore.

Meanwhile, this Thursday's weekly update will be chalked full of, "You should all be super happy and grateful we gave you a little more vault space, even if it is not enough for the purposes people want it for."

Wow, do I have a buyers remorse with the Season Pass. This would need unbelievably good story missions to make up for no new raid and what sounds like hoard mode. And I don't exactly trust them to do it; this Bungie is not made up of the same people that comprised the original Halo trilogy.

Comet will add two whole raids!

Pre order now for $59.99

Fixed that for you. Modern gaming seems to be trending towards such price points. At least I know to save my money for games like Battlefront and some such this holiday.

oh god it took me 10 seconds to reply

that's about as much time as it took for bungie to shit the bed today

Says the person who still cares enough to make another reply.

Seriously, Destiny as the game remains to be a hot topic. Front page twitch, Gaf OTs, Xur articles on gaming sites, etc.; all for a game that people claimed would've died six months after release. People care.

It's weird. Having a horde style mode is something that could actually bring me back in, so it's surprising to me how disappointed people are over no raid. I guess I didn't realize how important that had become for people. Something that feels less scripted and a bit more dynamic with waves of defense actually sounds enticing to me, then again, I never did do a raid.

As much as I shit on Destiny, I've always felt sorry for Deej.

I mean, what do you do in his position? The guys developing the actual content are adamant on refusing to meaningfully address community concerns and you're the guy who has to sell it to players that this is somehow a good thing.

I play with two other friends mostly. Been really hard coordinating 6 people to get a raid going Not really interested in playing with randoms. Half the fun of Destiny has been playing and laughing with good friends online with a cooperative back drop. For that, Destiny has worked very well. A new three player cooperative mode? That's actually good news in my book. But admittedly shit for players who thrive on the raid content. Wish it the DLC included both, would have likely fostered some good will from an increasingly jaded player base.

Yeah that's what I'm saying. Why not both?

Bungie/activision have consistently dissapointed when it comes to delivering content. They keep lowering the bar and the dedicated playerbase expects less and less. It's kind of sad really

According to PSN trophies only 20% of players have completed a Raid,
But only 15% of players have fully upgraded an exotic weapon.

Im sure those numbers are inflated. A lot of people who had never even seen 90% of VOG were running around with Vex Mythoclasts thanks to the atheon cheese. All those who cheesed got the raid completion trophy. I personally know two people who never did a raid and have that trophy

I don't hate the game like so many others did, but man, it did sell like 6 million+ on next gen. That alone and the lack of real shooter/RPG competition (there's what, Advanced Warfare and Dragon Age..? And Battleifeld/Titanfall? Not a stellar list for two systems) makes it easier for it to stay current.

In essence, the two most popular genres of console gaming have such a small selection on next gen that its bewildering.

I just wish Bungie had incorporated Co-Op more naturally with strangers and such. That, and the pricing of the DLC in general is crazy.

I'm genuinely embarrassed for buying the season pass. Lesson learned, that's the last time I buy a season pass til i know exactly what the content entails. I'm far from a Destiny apologist but I have had a lot of fun with the game. It's definitely lacking in content though and not having another raid is a bit of a kick to the crotch for season pass buyers imo.

I think I'm finally done with Destiny. Too many good games will be out by the time Comet comes out and I've already thrown enough money at this game.

So basically, they sold people a season pass that consisted of mostly on disk DLC missions you could access by glitcing in walls with your sparrow from day one, with the promise of cool, exciting raids with each expansion ... Yet when it comes to actually delivering one quality raid per expansion, it seems it's too much for them to accomplish ? C'mon, they had months to develop a new Raid, they have litterally no excuse for not providing one asides from lasyness !

People play Destiny for the Raid.. I mean, it's litterally the only true endgame content, but when it comes to their end of the bargain, mainly providing a single raid per expansion to keep players occupied, they can't even do this right...

I mean, let's face it, It took people like half a day to complete the new story missions in The Dark Below, then it was all about the Raid...

Cause nobody cares about the new strikes and missions that much. You do them once just to unlock them, then you're forced to repeat them for bounties and dailies till all fun is sucked out of them anyway.

I actually think it's all about them being really cheap. They figured the hardcore fanbase already have the season pass anyway, so they are not making any profit by giving them a Raid... And very few "new buyers" would buy the expansion this late in the game, so might as well provide the bare minimum to season pass owners and keep all the cool, exciting content for Destiny : Comet... Cause that's where new money will be made... Hopefully this will backfire on them and they might realise you can't treat your fanbase like this...

We paid money for content, most of which was avialable in some form on disk from day one... At the very least provide us with new raids with each expansion.

Looks like Destiny might become a dormant game soon, 1 thing that made people come back and play was the Raid end game portion

I was waiting on news about HoW, looks like Bungie doing a swerve and trying to wrangle in the casual base with what looks Luke horde mode with raid lute mechanics

Will give it a try once I'm out of the hospital, looks like I might have to get my mmo fix from ffxiv again when the new Heavensward expansion drops in June

You would thi k Bungie would want retention of gamers and do everything in their power to keep the community satiated like how COD does it. They almost look like they are sabotaging themselves to makes players leave their game. Usually devs try to foster and expand their revenue intake, not contract and break up what they built up

I'm a die hard as they come to Destiny, but this might be a curtain call for the foreseeable future for me
That Horde mode better be spectacular in nature, if it's just waves while ghost scans ala missions, then Bungie will be a dev who failed upwards after releasing a brand new IP

The amount of overreaction and plain hatred towards the game in this thread is hilarious to me. They haven't even shown off what exactly the mode entails, how it operates, and how people are rewarded for playing it and there is people saying that they're going to 'delete the game off of their harddrives' and that they 'feel embarrassed for buying the season pass/DLC'. How about you all wait and see how exactly the mode works before you go and spew your hyperbolic claims that everyone seems to love to do about this game?

The amount of hatred toward this game is incredible! I've played over 14 days of the game solely for the PvP because guess what? I find it incredibly fun. I guess that would come as a complete shock to 90% of the people in this thread.

Great. You like the pvp. Many of the people that play this game only still play it for the raid. You aren't one of them so you can be happy.

Congratulations?

There's a lot of warranted hate and general disappointment for Destiny. They truly promised to much when the game was revealed, and consistently have proved how little content they can offer. It's quite crazy to me because with the amount of money their studio seemingly would have access to, they've failed to deliver a game of that AAA calibre. I like the game, but it's not what was promised. Not even close.

you're getting value as a PvP player. New guns, maps, armor. If I was you, I'd probably be excited for the expansion.

I, however, loved 6 player co-op. I'm not a fan of PvP. Raids were the main event for a segment of the fan base. 3 player horde mode isn't a suitable replacement. As a PvE guy, this news doesn't cut it. Hence, disappointment
