Destructoid E3 Winners - Titanfall best of show

titanfall looks ok. but i guess i haven't seen titanfall.

This. Personally me and my friends have been more intrigued/impressed/hyped for bf4, the division, and Destiny. Specifically the last 2

I know that bf4 looks like the same shit but we liked that shit last time, where as titanfall looks okay but it's also the guys what did modern warfare 2, maybe my least favorite shooter this gen.

by being a shooter? It's no more fresh than battlefield 4. Atleast Battlefield 4 has the levolution going on.

They won the show based on the reputation alone. (respawn)

Beats me. Destructoid feels that in a sea of "next-gen titles" it's hard to stand out from the crowd, yet a source FPS stands out.

I think it's the second one..at least console exclusivity

I'm going with the former. They don't want to use a game twice. Hence need for speed getting best racing game yet forza got best Xbox one game.

Edit: I think they think like this:

Titanfall > forza > need for speed

You want to completely deny the game's small steps toward a return of high mobility and verticality? In favor of 'We're going to demo our better than CoD Battle and ignore everything that made us unique'field IV? The irrational irritation amuses me.

For the record my game-of-show is, EVR. Everything else sucked.

No way. Destiny seemed like best of show to me. Titanfall, nice but not feeling it as best of show.

Destiny seemed like a more ambitious game but titanfall looked like hands down the best competitive multiplayer game coming out for next gen. it blew cod and battlefield away. Just looks like crazy fast paced fun

It looks fun...but a game like destiny seems to be pushing things much further ahead, or The Division...hell BF4 is far more impressive in most ways too...titanfall is the sweetheart of the press and can do no wrong (not saying it will do wrong, but its already wrapped in velvet)

I've said this in the other best of E3 thread, but how are Destiny and The Division pushing things ahead? Aside from HOLY SHIT GRAPHICS AND ANIMATION, their demos were virtually identical and kinda lackluster:

1. Start demo
2. Whoa, friends have totally spontaneously joined me, alright!
3. Kill some baddies and bark out orders to each other
4. Encounter another player group
5. End demo

Don't get me wrong, I was super hyped about Destiny (still am excited) and I am definitely going to buy The Division, but I'm more intrigued by Titanfall and what they do with it. Lazily calling it a CoD clone is selling it short, especially since most people are complaining that the gunplay looks too much like CoD...because the gunplay in CoD is sooo horrible, right?

I wouldn't be surprised if Titanfall is getting more hype, simply because the demo looked better. It's hard to demo multiplayer games in an exciting way; however, Titanfall's "MP with SP elements" seems almost catered toward a good showing.

It surely looked the most fun and interesting game MS showed. Looks sooooo fast and fun. I think it's going to be a hit at launch. I only wish my PC was able to run it...

I can see why Titanfall is winning all of these awards.

It was the only game that seemed like it was actually being played, and not showed. Much unlike the same Infamous: Second Son gameplay video that was showed 4 times to different sites.

Everything about Titanfall's showing seemed natural and dynamic, even Destiny had a prescripted demo that was meant to be played a certain way.

Was I watching a different show? How can titanFall win anything? Its CoD. It looked so boring and stale. Walk walk shoot. Walk walk shoot.

I'm not comprehending the hype for titantall. Seems alright, but the best?
All kidding aside did you see the live demo? If not, then I guess what you say makes sense.

For everyone who wasn't at E3 it's very hard to understand why Titanfall struck such a chord without seeing the live demo.

Obviously people who saw it are hyped on it for a reason. Myself included. Though my game of show was inFamous Second Son, I can totally back the notion that Titanfall was special.

So i rewatch the demo and yep.. looks like an upscaled current gen cod game with jetpacks.

How can anyone claim this is "nextgen" ugh.

Titanfall just looks like call of duty future warfare with wall jumping and mechs.

Then again millions of people buy call of duty so eh.

That's definitely a list of the biggest "hardcore" names.

Good job, Destructoid. Maybe you could partner with Spike TV someday.

You missed the part where i said it played like cod with jetpacks? They're making the same game again because it's the only thing they know how to make.

What little we know about the game showed off many things CoD doesn't haven:

-A narrative driven MP
-Completely future setting
-Interactive movement with the environment
-Mechs

Literally, the only things it has in common with CoD are that its a shooter and the guns animate/handle like CoD (again, is this a bad thing now?).

Tearaway? Disney Infinity? Bayonetta 2?

Nintendo backfire?

Tearaway is a PS Vita exclusive, made in-house by SCE's Media Molecule. How is it Nintendo backfire? SCE seems to have stolen this award from Nintendo's hands. lol XD

The only game I see that is published by Nintendo is Bayonetta 2. :/

People are always screaming for innovation, yet they pick a First Person Shooter as the show's winner.

I am disappointed in Destructoid.

Disney Infinity making best platformer is indisputable proof that the media is out to destroy Nintendo. No way is a Skylanders clone better than a new Donkey Kong Country or Mario game, no matter how "safe" those titles might be.

In what universe is Disney's Infinity better than Rayman Legends?
And Destiny > Titanfall... Yes I've seen Titanfall. Didn't really impress me.

Not even a mention of Oculus Rift?

I guess it wouldn't fit into those categories. But still!

Next year.

Next year is when Oculus steals the entire show. They should have the HD consumer Rift announced by then and hopefully a decent amount of big titles playable on the show floor. People will be left in awe.

What people are you talking about? The vast majority of people want more/a better version of what they already like.

That's why I asked if I'd watched the wrong thing. I saw some videos put up by sites and all I saw were mechs and basic CoD running and gunning. It looked really depressing. Got any really really good links?

You might as well accept that the audience at large will never grow tired of arcade style running and gunning.

FWIW, I am not a big CoD fan (last one I owned was MW2, for a while I hated the series) and I am stoked for Titanfall.

I really think people are selling the game short by shrugging it off as CoD with mechs. Then again, it's very easy to be reductive.
