Deus Ex Director's Cut...damn son

Do the additions of Director's Cut outweigh the glitches added in the PC version?

That's what I'm trying to get an answer about too, I'm really hankering for a playthrough again, but I don't know which I should do.

IMO yes. The ability to tackle boss battles in a different way opens up the gameplay options. That's the main draw for me at least. If you plan on going a guns blazing playstyle and already own the DLC or don't care about it then might as well play the vanilla since the changed boss battles won't really make a difference.

Thanks for the info, I was gonna go mass murderer so I'll probably just do the normal version.

I dont know what it is, but i love the yellow. Dont know why, probably never will, but as great as the DC is... its just not the same without that yellow.

Most pleasant surprise in gaming. People were yapping a lot about that filter, but that was silenced when they made it optional and the game was absolutely awesome to boot.

Does the Director's Cut Steam Key overwrite the original listing? Or do you end up with both on your account>?

it's amazing how much better the game is with the hints and highlighted items turned off. i turned all that off about 2 hours in and never looked back

People weren't kidding about the vanilla version performing better, I get a solid 60 fps with no drops and only a slight hitch when it autosaves but on the director's cut anytime I would pan around to an expansive area it would chug for a second or two and this wasn't even at max settings like the I have the vanilla version.

I remember why I never sat down to play this game. I was super excited but in a tough part in school, when I had free time the Director's cut was announced so I set aside the in progress 360 version. Since I try not to pre order, I waited until it came out but people really didn't have nice things to say about the director's cut.

So here I am, wanting the game, not liking the Vanilla version bossfights, but hearing that the director's cut has issues that never really were fixed.

Are there any mods that bring the vanilla version up to the DC level as far as content goes, or that fix the issues with the DC? I also keep hearing that the WII U one is pretty nice as well.

I was very pleasantly surprised how great Human Revolution was (haven't played the Directors Cut) especially after the disappointing Invisible War.

There were things about the new Deus Ex that I really hated, and I'm hopeful that some of those issues are fixed in the director's cut.

Don't read the spoiler if you don't want the game ruined for you. It's not story related at all, but once I noticed something, the game was practically over for me in terms of fun.

THERE ARE FUCKING FUTURE VENTS EVERYWHERE. Why is it, that in the future, MAN-WIDE vents are next to EVERY locked door and office. It makes no sense whatsoever and shows how poorly the level design is.

there's a difference between level design and world design

an unrealistic overabundance of vents generally means they actually cared more about level design than world design-- willing to sacrifice realism to ensure player has multiple paths to and from objectives

Man, getting occasional stuttering in this game on a PC that should be blazing it.

I never asked for this.

yeah, the Wii U version is the best version I think

In fact, out of the small pool of 3rd party Wii U ports - NFS, Batman, etc - I'd say Deus Ex is the top of the pile if you're a Wii U owner

Couldn't have put it better myself. It's a contrivance to make the gameplay more open-ended and enjoyable at the expense of a little bit of realism.

The endings themselves aren't bad, I liked them. Felt very fitting. But the way
you pick them like Mass Effect 3
was pretty bad.

Maybe it's me but I
liked the ironically non-mechanical approach. Like the main game was the journey and the ending was more of a philosophical choice. I preferred the novelty of choosing an ending based on what I felt about my playthrough.

This was my favorite game of the last gen by far. Just the atmosphere and characters alone and the environments that felt alive. As a huge Metal Gear fan, I was completely taken of guard by this gem. Aside from the opening, this game was perfect and exactly what I was looking for. Also kudos for them making an Action RPG/Shooter that lasted longer than 10-20 hours.

I... thought it was alright. A 7.5/10 type of game for me. Had a lot of elements that waved in your face telling you that they'd played DE1 and that this is just like that, except I never once felt the same degree of craft where it counted - the world and character building.

Game ended up like a well-meaning jack of all trades but master of none.

I also played it years ago and didn't care for it. Played the Wii U DC version earlier this year and really, REALLY dug it!I'm holding onto the disk to play through it again with the Director's commentary. I played about ten minutes witg it on and it is exceptional. My favorite bonus feature!

Is there really no fix for the random stutters on PC? Gonna have to uninstall if not. Oh well.

The Director's Cut stuttered for me too, so I redownloaded the regular version and haven't had any stuttering. It was really bad in the open areas of Hengsha on the Director's Cut version, I couldn't figure out anyway of fixing it personally.

Played Human Revolution (in the form of Director's Cut, yeah) for the first time last month. Can't say I loved it -- would have preferred lengthier cutscenes and some gameplay tweaks here and there -- but it was well worth playing. Good game; excited for the sequel.

Try this:

In regedit open:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eidos\Deus Ex: HRDC and locate AllowJobStealing - set it to 0

For NVIDIA owners - in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eidos\Deus Ex: HRDC\Graphics locate AtiForceFetch4 - set it to 0

Alternative stutter fix: install MSI Afterburner and select to install Rivertuner Statistics Server from the install options. Then load RSS, add the DXHR exe to the list and limit FPS to your monitor's refresh rate. Make sure RSS is set to load at system startup or at least is running in the background when you start the game.
