Now here is the interesting question: did the leak help them?
I actually showed that to a friend (a very old-school PC gamer who worships DX1) as a selling point.Tadale said:It's amazing how little things like a grid inventory system get me excited nowadays.

Jump in. It's a prequel.
This. Some really fucking great trailer work being done by the marketing department, but I will wait until I see some more gameplay before really being sold on how open the game will be.Neuromancer said:I'm tentatively very excited about this game.
Deadbeat said:I dont know where you heard about the AI and mouse. You got a source?
Derrick01 said:It's going to be a long 27 day wait. But what's 27 days when we've waited 10 years for a proper successor?
Everyone who says they need to see more gameplay needs to do some basic youtube searching. There's tons of footage from the leaked build on there, at least last time I looked there was. At the very least look at the Gaf thread that was linked earlier here. It's a worthy DX game.
This game is not going to do well with reviewers. Itll probably be an 80s on metacritic with reviewers saying its too complicated/boring/slow/etc. Just play the damn leak and you will be convinced.Hari Seldon said:I want to make sure this game doesn't have some shitty console mouse, and honestly the game needs to be a 10/10 OMG type game for me to spend full price on an FPS. So I'm waiting for reviews and demos and lengthy discussions after release before making my decision.

It will be deserving, but it won't get it. The game is too complex and involved for the modern reviewer to like it all that much.Chairman Yang said:I'll be shocked if this game doesn't end up deserving to be called Game of the Year.
Hell, the leaked chunk of the game is practically Game of the Year by itself.

Keyser Soze said:I remain both scared and skeptic about this title.
Nah, they'll leave it. I love that you can do that to anyone. I was knocking cops out and hiding their bodies in the police station for the fun of it. Just one cross word said to me...just one.Jsunu said:Haha, i wouldn't be surprised if they take this out of the final game.
Yeah. I find myself replaying the leaked chunk of the game instead of playing other full games on my backlog. XDChairman Yang said:I'll be shocked if this game doesn't end up deserving to be called Game of the Year.

That's why I had to delete it.Akuun said:Yeah. I find myself replaying the leaked chunk of the game instead of playing other full games on my backlog. XD
Skeptics should play a few hours of the leak to see if it's their thing.

I might end up doing the same. Steam doesn't get any preorder goodies, right? But getting it at Gamestop will work on Steam and have all the fixins?Linkzg said:it is confirmed to be using steamworks, yes?
I have the augmented edition preordered from Gamestop. I'm actually buying a collectors edition (!), day one (!!), from gamestop (!!!). and I'm totally sheepish for going to gamestop for the preorder bonus. YOU MADMEN, YOU FINALLY DID IT! I'm sold on exclusive preorder bullcrap.
Linkzg said:it is confirmed to be using steamworks, yes?
I'd be fucking delighted if this game is an 8/10 game.Deadbeat said:This game is not going to do well with reviewers. Itll probably be an 80s on metacritic with reviewers saying its too complicated/boring/slow/etc. Just play the damn leak and you will be convinced.

Every version? I have it pre-ordered at my local game shop and they have no information if it requires steam or not. But their price is very nice so I would like to buy the retail copy and activate it on steam. This works, right!?Derrick01 said:Yes. I have it preorderd at gamestop too for the exclusive mission. I see it also comes with an auto hacker that says it can "unlock 98% of doors" but I won't be using that, if that's even close to true that's way too overpowered.
You can also throw large objects at them. Things like dumpsters and fridges.Twinduct said:You can beat up plebs? Hmm, this game delivers!

I played the damn leak, then played it again and again, and I was convinced that this is going to be one of the best games this gen.Deadbeat said:This game is not going to do well with reviewers. I dunno, I got used to it. The Riddick thing would have been cool, but it works here because they have the Rainbow Six: Vegas style cover mechanics going on, so third person feels good enough when you are playing. I dig it.dark10x said:Ah, the one thing that animated GIF recalls to mind are the melee attacks and how awkward they appear. I'm really hoping the final game does a better job transitioning between first person and third person melee actions. As it stands, it feels as if you are pressing a button and it abruptly jumps to a cutscene before returning control. It just looks bad in practice. If they could smooth out the transitions, it would help a lot.
Personally, I would have preferred a Riddick style animation for melee attacks. Keep it first person while still delivering killer animation.
I thought that it did transition back to 1st person gently and smoothly. I swear I remember seeing that in the beta.dark10x said:If they could smooth out the transitions, it would help a lot.
