In Deus Ex 2 there was a mission that involved an all girl school. Since this is Deus Ex we are talking about you could kill kids. On certain copies of the game the school girls would show up pantyless with a fully textured private area. Needless to say the person that added this dumbass "eastergg" got the boot. I came across the story at the time Deus Ex 2 released.LabouredSubterfuge said:I don't. Care to explain?

I liked Deus Ex 2. Yeah, it wasn't on the level of the first game, but that doesn't mean it wasn't good people.subversus said:Deus Ex 2 is an abomination (and never existed really) and therefore prohibited to mention in this thread.

I just want them to watch out for bad "eastereggs" like the one I mentioned in my previous post.

Congratulations, that was the first of the three times (the other times were in the flooded parts of hong kong and the cathedral in paris).Stallion Free said:Hey man, it completely changed the airport mission. Shit was awesome. I can't not max swimming.
I actually didn't max swimming and I drowned a fuck load of times trying to get to random stuff in the Hong Kong canals (I knew they were going to hide good shit in there that I *needed*).EmCeeGramr said:Congratulations, that was the first of the three times (the other times were in the flooded parts of hong kong and the cathedral in paris).

Maybe you should try getting a job.Despera said:For some reason I read that in my mind with JC Denton's voice.
Idk, the way I see it is that when I got Deus Ex I had my game time limited (middle school) and it was the only game I played for a month solid. My first playthrough took about 40 hours. It blew my fucking mind.MMaRsu said:I kinda liked Invisible War on PC. Sure it wasn't the greatest game ever but a abortion is a little bit too much![]()
If you are not a hardcore gamer and you just run through the critical path its about 25 hours, just for the critical path. If you want to explore and go deeper into the experience with the hacking and social exploration its more than 40 hours. By doing that during the conception we could satisfy different kind of players.
Linkzg said:I hope those numbers are somewhat accurate
When you trigger a takedown, for example, if you stay in first person its less impressive than if you go out of your character to look at the entire the scene. Its just to give you the player a real look at what hes able to do. A good thing is its consistent with the cover system too.

Don't you dare for a second accuse me of being an "angry fan" for pointing out the answer to a widely discussed issue concerning this game. Jesus christ guy.Despera said:Imagine doing a double takedown in first-person, you won't see shit.
From a cinematic point of view, I think it looks fantastic, and that's all there is to it. I feel sorry for these guys, they'll have to answer to angry fans whenever they implement something new.
Stallion Free said:Hey if I get the Dragon Tooth again, I sure as shit want a cinematic view of me severing the spine of some poor fool. First person just doesn't get the job done.
Also, I loved third-person cover in Rainbow Six Vegas and it did nothing to ruin my immersion.
Saty said:I don't think the complaint is about the takedowns switching to 3rd person but rather that it's a one button-press that triggers automatic sequence (that possibly makes the player resistant to damage when it's played-out).

You are making unnecessary accusations of "fanboyism" that don't exist. It has nothing to do with the first game whatsoever, it has to do with this game, and it's not a falsehood that people want to know more about it. Why would the interviewer ask the question then? I'd like to hear more from the developer about why they think its a good idea other than "it looks cooler." You don't see very many first person games that switch your camera to third person and back as often as it will happen here and I want to hear more about it.Zenith said:it's only been widely discussed amongst diehard fans. the official forums make it sound like the whole world is talking about nothing else but it's only limited to people obsessing over changes from the first game, even here. You might not like people trying to deflect the question with "pfft, fanboys" answer but don't you in turn perpetuate the falsehood that everyone in mainstream gaming up in arms over it. R6 Vegas did it fine, Riddick did it fine, Deus Ex will do it fine.

Succinctly, you're projecting and being a jackass to an honest comment/discussion point that has zilch to do with "change" or the first game and not aiding the discussion in any way shape or form.
DaBuddaDa said:I'd like to hear more from the developer about why they think its a good idea other than "it looks cooler."
The perspective doesn't change from third person to first person and back in AC, so it's a bad comparison.Zenith said:visual flair isn't a good enough reason when carrying out a well-animated, stylish takedown? did you think they stuck those blades on Jensen's arms for practicality's sake? do you question why Assassin's Creed changes camera angles when you do a roof-top dive as well?
Again, you're completely projecting fanboy nonsense that doesn't exist. When did I ever say it was a big deal? Never! I want to hear more about it.Zenith said:I'm struggling to think of a game that's ever done it badly. Even Casino Royale did a good job of the transitions. You're acting as if switching between first and 3rd camera perspectives is a big deal that the entire game hinges upon when it's a simple thing to implement.
And never said why it worked so well and in what context and how they handled the transition and where it was possible and how it kept momentum and perspective in check while moving the camera around. You said nothing but listing a couple of games. Thanks a lot for your valuable input.Zenith said:I listed a history of games that have done it fine whilst you've gotten hysterical at anyone laughing at you.
This is a solid and reasonable answer. Also, what was said before, some abilities like a double take-down would be janky looking from first person. With an expanded array of abilities, they have to change the perspective on some or else they wouldn't make sense, or be harder to pull off in first person than it is in third. The dev didn't say any of that, though.Despera said:Because it's much more realistic. I wouldn't expect an augmented agent like Jensen to sneak up on an enemy only to knife him to death from behind for example. I expect some elaborate techniques.

I'm totally with you there. Man from what I'm seeing I don't see shy anyone has to worry. The footage is awesome. Voice acting seems better, graphics and style beautiful and gameplay systems looking sweet. The release of this game can't come fast enough. Cyberpunk Hong Kong? Yes please!dejay said:If this game redeems the series by both being totally non-sucky and by being nicely represented on PC then I'll be a very happy chappy.

It's not the animated, non-interactive take down sequences I'm interested in, it's when the game switches from first to third person while you're still in complete control, such as when you're behind cover. I've never experienced a FPS that did that before, and I'm trying to wrap my head around how jarring/not jarring it might be switching to and fro.charlequin said:Honestly, I think it's kind of silly to be like "I hate that in response to this element of the game which is purely visual the developers said they wanted to pick the cooler looking option." Complaints about the health or cover system may or may not prove to be significant when judged holistically as part of the whole game but they're at least founded in a concern about the way the gameplay manifests; complaining about the perspective switch on the takedowns is pretty much just saying that you prefer one way of displaying an uninteractive sequence over a different one.
You have quite a few to pick from. It's not exactly a rare feature.DaBuddaDa said:It's not the animated, non-interactive take down sequences I'm interested in, it's when the game switches from first to third person while you're still in complete control, such as when you're behind cover.
