It's not the animated, non-interactive take down sequences I'm interested in, it's when the game switches from first to third person while you're still in complete control, such as when you're behind cover. I've never experienced a FPS that did that before, and I'm trying to wrap my head around how jarring/not jarring it might be switching to and fro.
It works fine. Halo has such transitions (albeit obviously not for cover), R6 Vegas and the latest Brothers in Arms have them. Nothing to worry about.

Well, that explains the complaint at least. It's actually quite common these days, enough so that it honestly didn't occur to me that this could be your complaint since FPSes with cover mechanics do it all the time.

I think the whole point of the third-person sections is to make the one-hit-one-kill swipes with melee weapons seem less ridiculous. From the gameplay videos, I honestly think it adds immersion.

And did people forget that any conversation was done in third-person in the original?

Send me moneys and I will 10/10 your game.

Promise.

Oh, they are reading it then?

Just wanted to say, that this gameplay trailer + interviews solidified a purchase right here. Put many, many hours into the gimped PS2 version of Deus Ex back in the day, and it looks like you've somehow managed to take everything that made it feel so right (full blown customization, interesting and labyrinth'd environments, DIY solving based on preference) and made it all-so-smooth. If the first one's convoluted points turned people off, the absolute implementation of those ideas into your current interface looks fluid and diverse. It doesn't look like half the chore to stage whatever it is you intend to do in the provided areas.

In short, it looks like quality, and it surely takes cohones to realize what appears to be such a detailed tech-noir fiction. I know - the trailers haven't exactly shown much - but the impressions left have already assured me you're not simply glossing over the small stuff. Honesty in the interviews revealed the opposite: the fact that there are so many intricate details that some interactions and systems were cut. That's a good thing.

For some reason, the gods have seen fit to give us proper Fallout and Deus Ex games that don't pander to the lowest common denominator on consoles. Please, make it as complicated as possible. That's all. Also, can't wait!

Just to let you guys know, the team is reading this thread. Or at least, Jonathan J-B is (Bio Art Director)

Right now, I would kill for one of the members of the development team to post here to answer questions (without giving too much away of course). Its certainly happened on this forum before, and I think it would help to alleviate any fears people might have.

So if you're still reading this thread Eidios Montreal, please post here!

Don't listen to us, just make the game you want to make!

Right now...!
How about you guys make many trailer that depict a certain gameplay feature only, huh?
An action-based trailer alone is not enough to satisfy everyone. To compensate show variety.

How about start with Shadow Trailer: A less action-based trailer or a Social Butterfly to show your social interaction?

We know advertising. You tell us, we believe. You show us, we know you aren't lying.

This is the best advice anybody could ever give when it comes to GAF.

Just make sure that shit is 720p on consoles.

All but one version of one release on this engine (including everything on 360) has been subHD, all the released media has been subHD and they're adding in a lot of new effects to the engine increasing the load. Its subHD.

If you're listening, please release some PC media. Don't shit on your art team by continuing to put out console shots with fugly image quality when you've got a beautiful DX11 PC release waiting in the wings.

Not too long ago there were off-screen videos from a presentation that showed off DX11 features and a multiple screen setup. I have faith that the PC version is going to be more than solid.

More than just the team, I think Eidos in general has been great about PC games. Just Cause 2 stands out to me as an incredible effort to make the PC version that much better.

I really need to play Deus Ex.. It's sitting in my steam account, waiting. Maybe I'll get more hyped for this after the play.

The music on that site is amazing.

I remember Mr Sarif from the trailers. Could his company have given the hero the prosthetics? Photo on the site looks like the character's face model, cool.

Game's going to be incredible architecture porn.

This won't work. They need to sell to MW crowd as well, all the 12-year olds will remember the sneaking trailer and refuse to buy the game. They need to advertise run&gun while at the same time giving clues and pointing to the fact sneaking and covert ops is there as well.

P.S. Hacking minigame is ace.

Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh. For fucks sake.

Can someone tell me who, exactly, is responsible for what is probably the worst trend of this generation? Is it pressure from major retailers in order to guaranty plenty of shelf space? Is it publishers trying to offer pre-order incentives? Or is it developers acting like fucking morons?

I dont really give a shit if its meaningless trinkets, but why must this happen? Why must real game content, like missions, be locked away from the fans should they not purchase at a specific outlet? Why must some bonuses be new guns and powers and in-game currency that will no doubt unbalance and distrupt the flow of the game?

I really, really hate this shit. It just makes me feel if you're not getting everything you're not getting the full, proper product. Games should never have their content chopped up.

I didnt buy New Vegas because the currently Xbox 360 exclusive DLC, and being locked out of missions here just makes me not want to buy this either.

WTFFFFFFFFFF? I understand weapons, nobody uses them.

speak for yourself. weapons are crucial in an FPS, even one with RPG extras. Grenade launcher was advertised ages ago.

at least the PC version will have both packs unlocked.

Soo, if you don't pre-order you are one mission and four weapons short(and some augmentations)? What a stupid bullshit.

This trend, nuke it from the orbit.

Reviews should start docking any game that does this 1 point right off the bat.
Reviewers probably get both :lol

But really, I doubt I am going to read any reviews for this shit. I expect ignorance will be bursting out of every word written.

You have to provide other retailers with exclusive DLC preorder bonuses to try to very slightly push purchases away from the near-monopoly beast that controls specialty gaming retail, but then you have to give Gamestop a different (but probably slightly shittier) exclusive preorder DLC anyway because they'll use their giant 800-pound gorilla arms to beat you up if you don't.
