*shrug*

If it puts more money in the hands of the developers, I don't give a shit about a small box in the corner of a loading screen.

we are all loving and caring about the people that make the games we love, but there's a point where you gotta think of yourself as a customer. I did my part, i bought the game, before release and at full price, now please mister devs, show me the respect and gratitude you have me for doing that and dont shove ads into my fucking face.

I want to be angry, since there's no reason I should have to view ads in the middle of a game I already paid for. Get that shit out of here.

What I really am though is kind of amused, as that is probably one of the shittiest forms of advertising ever. Who paid for that? It's a fucking tiny box on a screen gamers already dislike looking at.

Everything about this is the worst.
Don't forget, it seems to be advertising the new Star Wars Bluray release, so it's like two heinous crimes rolled into one.

first of all, ads on load screens who cares? it is a load screen... you aren't playing..

I don't see how it is obtrusive?

Now if it because a streaming ad or something like that you have a point but as of right now that little window ad is about ok..

Naw man, it's all about immersion! Because I'm totally immersed in this universe while watching this loading screen!

Seriously?

IT'S A LOADING SCREEN. Who the fuck cares.

Jesus, they fix (haven't tested it myself yet, though) stuttering yet people still find something to bitch and moan about.

Just remember this post when you start getting Hulu quality 'please enjoy these commercials while we load your game'

It just makes me feel insulted tbh, specially when they add it this late after i already paid for it.

I just really hate this kind of advertisement and im tired of being bombarded by it.

And as i said before, nuke this shit now, cause if it works youre gonna start seeing streaming ads on small windows during cutscenes..

fixing issues is their job, i dont need to be insanely thankful for it, i expect it.

sure, but when i mention insulted im clearly speaking from a matter of principle

This is just wrong. I paid full price for this game. There shouldn't be any ads. It doesn't matter if it's a loading screen or not. Hopefully the hosts file edit work around works and stops these from loading.

Bad analogy, the money you pay for your TV is for the hardware not the content. A better example would be 360 dashboard ads.

I only use a cable to tv hook-up, little to no hardware..

I pay for tv and yet I still get ads :(

You pay for cable service, not necessarily covering the cost of programming. With that said, commercial breaks on cable are much less frequent on cable than broadcast. You can watch your premium channels like HBO/Cinemax ad free because you pay specifically for that service.

You paid $60 for the fucking box. Least they can do it give me an opt out in the options.

Or if you want to use ads to lower the box price, i'm all for it. I am not getting anything from this deal, except advertised to at full price.

I hate when they do this after a game releases in a patch. If you dont like that they do this you should have the choice before you buy the game. Adding after someone buys the content is underhanded.

Yuck. If it was free to play, I wouldn't object, but there is no excuse to insert ads into a full price game. Someone needs to patch that shit out, stat.

Lets complain needlessly. That's why this place exists, after all. Criticize, flip out, purchase and play game anyways.

OK, I'd like you to explain to us how ads in games are a non-issue, and why we shouldn't be concerned about them becoming increasingly prevalent.

I very rarely complain to the manufacturer or distributor of a product I purchase and have only demanded a refund perhaps no more than a couple times. If they don't patch this out in the next week or two I will demand a refund. If I don't get it I will not do business with them again, it's that simple.

This is the type of behavior we can NOT let slide. It will only get worse.

They changed the game you already paid for. If they were there from the start that's one thing but doing this is underhanded and shady as hell.

Already done on PC. Not sure what the fuck they were thinking to begin with.

Actually we purchased the game and THEN we complained. It would've been different if they were upfront.

I'm not a fan of them either. I mean, if you consider the history of this issue, we've had little ads popping up here and there in online games for a while now and it's never descended into the hellish depths promised by the slippery slope. Still, it bothers me on principle when I'm asked to watch ads during the course of experiencing content which I have paid money for. It's not an unreasonable principle in my opinion, but I do understand if it doesn't bother other people to the same extent.

Well there is the TV :P

Anyway, I don't disagree with the idea that there are precedents for this, that specific example just didn't work for me.

That's because so often they are very slippery. This little postage stamp, I don't give two shits about. It might ruin a screenshot I maybe would have wanted to take of the cool loading screen. That's about it.

But again, wait until some marketer comes in and says to the devs, "Hey, since you've got ads on this loading screen, what if you just added a couple seconds to the load time so we could get more ad play on there? We could maybe rotate through a couple of them. And you know, we've got access to the sound interface at this point too right? And we know their speakers are on b/c they're playing this game. Let's make it a video ad."

If you don't think these conversations are already happening or that they aren't going to happen very soon, I think you are naive.

Pay $50 for a game, get ads anyway.

I hate this gen.

Although they are probably easily blocked with editing the HOSTS file, the SOE and EA ones are.

They don't seem to be there in the UK thankfully.

I will, i just hope Eidos Montreal doesnt start talking shit about how people pirate their games and whatnot from now on

if you pirate a game because there are ads during the loading screen, you are totally justified! brb while I pirate every tv show ever and some movies just because those trailers are kind of a hassle too.

Thats different, its an ad that gives life to a scene, sure its coke, but whatever. Its more about the future being projected, the ads everywhere... etc...

This isnt what they did in this game, its during a loading screen >.> Its like Blade Runner having an add pop up in the corner during one of the movies 'slow' bits >.<

I do have some fucking personal ethics. This isn't that big of a deal, but if I was told beforehand this game would have advertising, it would make me think. I'm not into paying up the ass for stuff, then getting procter & gamble products advertised to me while I wait for an area to load.
