Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Reveal Trailer

Pure glee.

HR had almost the same kind of trailer and the game turned out to be just fine for stealth gameplay, I think it even rewarded you more for doing so. Last chapter was lame though.

Doesn't make sense. TR2013 wasn't a sequel to a TR game that had tombs.

Deus Ex has stealth and will always have stealth. And an option for not killing. One trailer and people lose their shit lol

It's good practice to be skeptical of any AAA development, but especially Square. Their meddling in the development of Thief 4 and Hitman and inexplicable direction of Sleeping Dogs Online comes to mind.

villain VA is baaaaaaaaad

but; excited as fuck

these trailers are the best fucking trailers in games

also "I won't let it happen again" is totes a "I never asked for this" reference

the last CG trailer was one of the best videogame trailers ever made

there was demand for it

Why can't CG trailers hype the setting and lay some general story points out? I can get hyped over that.

I understand the notion but as the medium evolves I expect the promotional materials to adapt as well. You can bring me the most elaborate CG trailer in the world and it may probably hype me up like no tomorrow but the moment the gameplay trailers, previews, reviews and post impressions kicks in and the overall consensus leads to the negative, they're not getting my money. Period.

This is why I am unhyped with CG promotionals. If you're going to convince me to drop down a purchase, you better bring in your entire marketing arsenal, and that means promotional gameplay material!

The CGI trailer did a pretty good job for the previous game, i don't know why should they change it...

Also, gameplay graphics might improve a lot, but even if the IQ reach CGI quality (Warning, it doesn't yet), there's lot of things a CGI can do that something in engine can't since they don't rely on an engine to pull off effects, geometry and such

Isn't this what UE4 is capable right out of the box? At least that's what I remember from the last Epic GDC.

Do you think the series is moving towards (or past) the first DX, where AIs control everything?

Its a great genre and game, looking forward to it although I kind of hope at some point they decide to leap forward a hundred years or something instead of staying in the 20xx period.

Being next gen only is so nice, hope we see more and more games like that.

Trailers a little action heavy for what the game is, but goddamn is got me excited anyhow. And that score...

*heavy breathing*

The story setup up in the trailer is actually disappointingly generic. A tortured soul in Jensen must find "redemption" by saving mankind and punching nameless henchmen in the face. Meanwhile, Lazaravich from Uncharted 2 has seemingly found new work and has resurrected the plot from X-Men... Everything is just so predictable, contrived and one note. I honestly expect much better writing from the Deus Ex series and I hope things aren't what they seem.

This was their chance to impress me and they failed to do that in the same way they did with the Human Revolution CGI trailer.

Deus Ex is now a series about a badass with a tortured soul, presented with angelic imagery to let everyone know that even though he totally just killed like twenty dudes he's still the world's, no, maybe even the universe's savior.

Thanks video games.

I wanna hate jensen for how generic cigar-smokin male dudebro he is but I really can't

I love him. it's weird.

I think that deep down there's some denton in jensen

or at least I see what I wanna see

but I really think he just works

There's still over 20 years between Mankind Divided and the events of Deus Ex, so a lot of what sets that game up probably won't appear in this. There's a big window. That being said, Human Revolution did an excellent job of telling its own story within the game universe while also littering the world with references to the events of Deus Ex, tying things together nicely in a surprisingly subtle way. I expect this to be very similar; primarily a continuation of the arc and themes established in Human Revolution, some blatant cameos/tie-ins to Deus Ex, and a bunch of cool shit found in emails and other goodies.

Yeah, remember the good times when it was about a leather clad albino fighting an omniscient computer built by the Illuminati under Area 51?
I don't know, if you tried to be sarcastic, but if so it fails. Your description of Deus Ex reminds me, how awesome the original game was!

Deus Ex: HR was good with a fantastic visual design, but it could not reach the complexity of it. The new still doesn't look like to have any identity or real concept to get, yet. But the first showing of DE:HR was also not very clear at the time and it had grown on me.
Let's hope for better stealth, hacking and social options this time (especially with the bosses)

I enjoyed the trailer, but I gotta say, it doesn't hold a candle to the trailer of its prequel. This one is starkly focused on wow effects, fast-paced combat and gadgetry, while the previous one tried to be more artsy. I must admit I liked that approach far better. If I didn't know about Deus Ex and was shown this trailer, I'd guess it's a run of the mill shootbang game with a slightly SciFi setting. I just hope that isn't what they're aiming for with this.

Now, after these few lines of criticism and navel gazing, please allow me to rejoin the hype train. Wheeeeeeee!

Yep and they want this story to be a bit of its own franchise. I bet we get a 3rd game as well with Jensen (maybe his last) and that game will likely have a lot of set up for what happens later in the timeline

At least it wasn't played deadly serious by the voice actors or the writers.
It was absolutely serious, I still rember Paul outright telling the player how big government is bad, it was a product of its time, like most games really

I would also guess Megan probably plays a good part in the game since I don't think they would want to drop that part of the story?

It really isn't. Just replay the Hong Kong portion, listen to those voices and tell me that shit is played like a serious Nolan movie or something.

I mean these nolan movies didnt exist

i'd argue neither game takes itself SUPER seriously

like, they do, but they're self-aware about it
