Developer responds to feedback - Lords of the Fallen

Damn I thought I'd be able to skip this one, the previous couple vids i saw looked ok to me but nothing I had to have. That dev video made the game look pretty damn fun though. So in the next 7 days I have to decide between Sunset Overdrive, Bayonetta 2, Freedom Wars, and now this...and it's not even November yet...wallet am cry.

Bayonetta 2.

The tearing has been addressed long ago. Was caused by video recording, not the game.
Actually there is tearing, it was evident on a stream I watched yesterday. The dev said that there would be a patch to address that and other bugs on day 1 or for the most 3 days after release.

I am getting this at release but this game would have done much better if it release a month ago or a couple of months from now.

Sending it out at this time with Halo, CoD, GTA, AC and everything else on the horizon is just nuts. Why would you do that to a new IP in sort of a niche genre.

got to love developers making the effort to fix problems ASAP if they cannot before launch

CoD? Aassassin's Creed? Who cares?

Isaac comes out November 4th.

Out of all of these games I will only be getting GTA at launch. Honestly, tho game looks much more interesting than the rest you listed.

Hmmm I've played a bit of Demon's Souls (maybe 6 bosses down?) and never touched Dark Souls. Might check this out if it turns out well on PC.
Why would you play this instead of Dark Souls?

I mean, it might be a good game, sure, but Dark Souls is a masterpiece. If you want to play something with that type of gameplay why not play the original?

I still some how don't like the equipment UI, even Dragon Age inquisition has similar interface.

Edit: Specifically individual Items displayed as metro tiles.

Can someone clarify how the "gane" has a "blizzard" art style?? Hyperbole meter is off the charts with people throwing broad brush statements.

Honestly it reminds me more of Warhammer mixed obviously with elements of the souls series. Outside of the boring protag (does this game have character customization!?), it's a pretty smooth art style. Not terribly original, but it still seems to have a flavor separate from Blizzard while still having a broad color pallet.

This +1

It is pretty nice approach, isn't it?
Especially compared to the recent Mordor bullshit.
Central Europe devs, bringing in the goods.

I don't follow gaming news that often, what was the issue? Anyway, I have already said I would rather get this than Mordor, so it's all good.

You don't need to.

Rebirth is the original and the sequel wrapped into one game.

Yeah but I already bought it last year. Wish they offered an upgrade plan.

They wouldn't give the game to youtube previewers unless they signed contracts that pretty much gave the publishers total control over what they can say and show. You had to praise the game all the time using pre-chosen terms, can't say you didn't like anything, and can't even show a bug/glitch.

The upgrade plan is if you own the original, then the sequel is 33% off.

I would recommend just jumping to Rebirth at this point, it really is a complete remake of the original game with a heap of new content added.

Will proably pick it up after clearing a few games. My backlog is too big!

Anyways, we're going off-topic.

I like that the devs didn't take an arrogant approach to the criticism from the preview builds that were shown. It was nice to see a level headed honest response to what they are doing with their game. A nice change from the bullshit we've been getting from the likes of Ubisoft and what not.

I wasn't sold on it before as it doesn't seem too challenging, but I may get the PC version to support the devs and to play something a little like Dark Souls until Bloodborne hits.

My #1 request to developers this generation:

Nail down some tech that prevents cloth from clipping through shields et al. on the player character's back.

PLEASE.

Ugh, even Ryse had clipping issues on the character's belts/skirt-thing. For such a stupendously gorgeous game, that was super distracting.

I have a feeling I'm going to get this next week. The Lobos and ENB videos got me a lot more interested than I was previously. Really wish this had come out in September since there wasn't much besides Mordor out.

Enemies need to do more damage and attack more often.

I am still hyped for this game, but a souls veteran is going to laugh at this games difficulty.

I dont feel like the explination he gave in the video about the difficulty really answers much. So, if we want easy mode, just put on heavy armor? Why am I forced to play in light gear if I want a challenge?

Bleh

I had a hilarious bug in pc version where after cutscene the skirt marius wears was turned around to his front, so he had a bare ass. Not even the most advanced and polished games escape this stuff.

This game screams Warhammer. The Blizzard comparisons might be coming from the people that only got into gaming more...recently.

The balance between heavy and light seems weird to me. From the videos it seems like you take too little or too much damage respectively. I'll probably roll with medium. I usually wear it for looks in Souls anyway.

I like to rock the plate upperbody with a skirt look so I thought the cleric armor looked badass.

same - will definitely be getting this at some point (post-bloodborne - which's when i'll finally get a ps4)...

&, speaking of bloodborne: i'd say that, seeing as this's likely the closest thing to a souls game it'll be getting for a while, this game just might have the potential of doing better-than-expected on the xbone?...

I'll be too busy with other things to get this at launch but christmas steam sale or earlier is looking likely.

This game screams Warhammer. The Blizzard comparisons might be coming from the people that only got into gaming more...recently.

People flipped their shit over Darksiders' artstyle when that came out, calling it terrible WoW crap etc. Meanwhile, multiple Blizzard artists listed Joe Madureira as a direct influence in their sons of the storm profiles...

If it's like demon's souls I probably would disagree with masterpiece status. As to why this, no specific reason; shiny new game in the sub genre seems like a fine place to try it out again.

Game made several improvements on the Demons Souls formula and is much better because of it.

Lol.
Is this an attempt to insult the people who dislike the visual style of this game?
I've been gaming since the '80s (i really don't see what this has to do with my opinion though) and i do think it goes for a Blizzard-esque art style. The saturated color palette in the environments, the ultra generic fantasy armor designs with the ridicously big shoulder plates, weapon designs etc.

Sure Blizzard-style is not the only style it's going for.No one said that. Personally i've also mentioned in the past that to me it looks like it takes influence from a Warhammer art style mixed with some Gears of War character attitude which both are styles that i also dislike very much .

This is the best player interaction I've ever seen - give YouTubers early access, don't try to muzzle them, and then honestly respond to their comments.

It's brilliant, it's humble and they deserve every success imo.
You mean unlike having release day embargoes, holding back review copies, and paying youtubers for less than unbiased impressions?? I mean, hell, then you'd actually have to have faith that your product could stand up against criticism.../s/

The areas that have been shown so far are the tutorial zones. I wouldn't expect to gauge the difficulty of the entire game from that footage.

Especially with Lords making some QOL improvements to the formula.

Does anyone know if you're able to hot switch your armor and weapons? Like having loadouts you can switch to in the start menu on the fly? Rather than having to individually switch out each item to adjust your movement or attack speed based on the enemies you're fighting.

Maybe, but maybe not. Give it a try, please :)

Oh and the graphics in this game are pretty fantastic, Dark Souls looks like a freakin NES game compared to this. Really impressive.

You're not wrong, but at the same time there's more to visuals than just the technical aspects. Armor and weapon designs, animations, architechtural design matter as much if not more than the number of dynamic light sources in a scene or whatever.

Ummm, opinions. I get that they opened up the game with Dark Souls but for me, Demons was the pinnacle. Nothing I have ever played will fill me with dread like the Tower of Latria.

OT: This game looks pretty bad ass. Problem is, Wallet is skinnier than a slim jim with all the games I've ordered. Looks like the niece and nephew are going to not be so happy with Uncle Aces come Christmas.

The cape constantly clipping into the shield is just another proof this game probably won't be polished enough
