Development on Destiny 2 has begun, Destiny 1 was profitable day 1

So soon after launch and after promising ten years of content? Huh...well, let's see how this goes.

It wasn't 10 years for just Destiny 1. It was ten years for the franchise as a whole.

If you look back to the original contracts being released, sequels were always in the cards as were expansion packs.

Destiny seems to have a really solid base from which to make a great game...I gotta imagne a ton of time was sunk into just making the game work

Wait what? I definitely misunderstood this, I thought they were talking about supporting the game for 10 years, like an MMO.

- Create an actual story
- 60fps or no buy
- Stop making me feel like I'm wasting time when I play the game
- Stop making me feel like playing this game is a job, do this when Bungie says you can do it.
- Release with a good amount of content
- No more repetitive missions
- Balance the PVP
- Private Lobbies (This one makes me chuckle every time)

This is a start.

Destiny had so much promise. It has a solid gameplay foundation, but an otherwise forgettable everything else.

I REALLY hope they work on a coherent, engaging story, vary the mission types, and make the endgame a little more interesting.

So as much as I love the first game there was certainly stuff that needs improvements. My wishlist

- Better story. As in the game actually has a story.
- Skippable cutscenes
- MORE LOOT
- Higher base level cap.
- More planets
- More strikes / raids.
- Basically just more content than Destiny 1 launched with.

After the first one, I think I will wait till the GOTY edition launches and it has all the content it is supposed to. They know they can strip the ass out of the content and drag it out for months and people will pay. Loved the game but already bored of huge lack of content and piss-poor loot.

Might buy it for 20 dollars if it gets good reviews. Not doing full price on this again that's for sure.

Loved the first game, hopefully they flesh out the story and include more mission variety!

Good for Bungie I guess but I can't help but have an initial reaction of "ugh".

Right after they are done jamming you with the lacking content base game and charging out the ass for expansions they slap the next derivative of the formula on your for another $60. No thanks.

Well, yeah. I'm sure it started early development before the first was out.

2016 then?

The original plans from the court documents were that there would be a sequel every two years, with a large expansion pack in between. I assume we'll just get normal DLC instead of the proposed big expansions. Documents were from a long time ago.

There is a lot they could so with the franchise. If they could take the core game play and put it into a more complete game, Destiny 2 could really be something special.

I did enjoy Destiny, but it was the biggest disappointment of the year. They really need to include a storyline next time, and stop with the poor design decisions.

Implement social interactivity. Currently, Destiny has nothing of the sort outside of voice chat with fireteams. Forming groups requires outside tools, which isn't how it should be. Implement matchmaking for everything.

I could go on all night really. :/

I'm going to be really curious to see the PR pre-release cycle for Destiny 2. I expect we'll see Bungie doing as much diplomatic throwing of Destiny 1 under the bus as is possible.

I also anticipate that they'll be focusing heavily on showing off the story stuff.

On the subject of the sequel...

I see it working like the standalone expansions for Guild Wars 1. Each is a potential starting point with its own races/classes/story, and you can also play through any campaign (sans some tutorial/intro stuff) with an existing character. Destiny 2 will be an expansion pack in the sense that you'll be able to continue most/all of your progress from the first game instead of forcing everyone to start over.

I still feel rather burned by what was promised and what was delivered by Destiny.

I can't imagine in 2016 I'll be ready to love Bungie again...

unless my Destiny 2 character can have a sweet space beard... In which case...maybe I could learn to love again...

We plan to have ten years worth of content!

Destiny
Destiny 2: Rahool's Revenge
Destiny 3: Level 34 Edition
Destiny 4: Saturn and Mercury
Destiny 5: The One With a Good Loot System

I regret redeeming my season pass for this game. They've definitely burned their free "it's Bungie! What could go wrong?" pass with me and it's going to take some convincing to get me back on board for a sequel.

They cut enough from 1 to be halfway done with 2

It'll take a lot to get me to jump back into Destiny after the incredibly disappointing first game. Maybe they'll actually have some mission design in Destiny 2 beyond "defend this thing" with some bosses who are more than boring sponges. Until they can show me any of the kind of interesting encounter design and pacing they had in Halo, I'm off this train.
