So I got back from PAX tonight and went to a session with our Chris from Foundation 9/Backbone, Frankie from Bungie, Jen from ArenaNet, and some guy from Turbine (i feel bad for forgetting it, but I don't like there games). Anywho, both Chris and Frank gave NeoGAF some shout outs in being one of the hardcore forums that they read and post on. Frankie even used NeoGAF as an example on how a 'small site' can be extremely important within the PR world, saying something along the lines that a site like NeoGAF which has 200 to 1000 members logged in at any moment can have a strong influence in the gaming world (don't get big heads now).
I really liked the session, way better then the session at Gamefest recently about the same topic. The moderator (my pal Brian from Microsoft) had some really good questions for the panel for the first 30 minutes and there were some really great questions during the last 30 minutes from the attendees. Lots of questions about how can my site get content if we aren't getting the hits for a game company or publisher to care about us. Jen answered this best in just dig for content, talk about it, get people to trust you, and develop a fan base and then people will notice you.
Someone asked a great question about damage control and if companies see it coming. The guy used Shadowrun being shown at E3 and everything Sony has done for the PS3. The PS3 comment got some groans from the crowd on hand. Frankie took a stab at it and said that Shadowrun was kinda given that fans wouldn't be happy because the IP is known for being an RPG not a FPS, but hopefully FPS will like Shadowrun. His response for the PS3, noting that Sony's press conferences normally are very bland but provide the information attendee want, but this last year was a train wreck. He noticed a guy in the front row with a 'Massive Damage' t-shirt in the front row and said when people make t-shirts about your failures or problems that is never a good thing. I have to say Frankie is very entertaining and Jen is pretty cute
I took some photos of the panel, the moderator, and some girls in the back who really had a thing for Frankie.
