Dexter Season 2 thread (Showtime TV series)

if lila's only big secret is
just that she's really manipulative, and dexter kills her over it
, that's going to be pretty lame. i think
dexter will frame doakes, especially after doakes' meeting with lundy

does anybody else think that this show is really hilarious? especially the last few episodes. i'm glad that they don't take themselves too seriously.

Just 5 more minutes.

That's what I say after every episode.

The Doakes story line has is really intense. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

I cant beleive that this show aint more popular. Everyone watches shit like Lost and Heroes while this is superior on all points. The thread for the entire season is only 5 pages.

Doakes will confront Dexter with the blood before he tells anyone. Dexter will go to Lundy and tell them that they should search Doakes and his place. They will find the blood with his fingerprints. End of Doakes....

Another rivetting episode tonight. What else can we say here? The show is on fire.

The cool thing is, they haven't stretched a story out all season. They give you what you expect to happen, but when you least expect it! Sometimes you expect it so much, that you think it's too obvious to happen.

Example: Dexter figuring out Lila as quickly as he did tonight. It's as if he hears us yelling "watch out for LILA!".

Good episode but I thought the Lila turn was a little too fast. Dexter is the rare show that can stand to stretch out and extend storylines so I hate it when they speed it up a bit too much. The first season really suffered from that. Still good stuff.

Doesn't help that it's on a premium channel.

SO fucking good.

What I love is the contrast between Dexter figuring out Lila in an instant, yet on the Bay Harbor Butcher side of things his world his shrinking day by day.

I hope you're right, I hate that bastard. Down with Doakes, Dexter for life

ok finally got to see tonight's episode (i always forget the 9 showing).

This episode was the best piece of television i've EVER seen. This shit is just too good. Dexter just keeps getting torn apart everytime he tightens his shit up.

Who would have thought being a serial killer would be so hard?

So how many eps do we have left for this season? I can't believe how much better it is than season 1, which was already excellent.

What an unbelievable ending to the show! The Monster theme comes up again.

Doakes was missing when Jimenez was cut to pieces. Excellent writing to keep the door open for Doakes framing.

Doakes is so deliciously fucked. :D

So glad Dexter has figured Lila out. If they let that hang I would've screamed.

I enjoyed Lila knocking Dexter for not thinking in poetry, only for him to use some poetic justice on his mother's killer.

Edit: Oh, and it cracks me up how they find ways to use Lila's nude scenes for the 'previously on' segments.

*watches episode*

OMG YES I LOVE PSYCHO-KILLER DEXTER. :D

This is how good television is done, people.

I have no idea what's going to happen with Doakes now, I don't think I want to watch any previews.

The previews don't confirm anything that you shouldn't already be fully expecting. So, you probably don't need to watch them anyway.

So, pure speculation but I presume by seasons end, both Lilah and Doakes will either be dead or in jail. Yay. I hate them both.

And this season barring any sudden drops in quality > season 1.

Because his intense intensity and macho manliness is rather irritating. Oh and the actor sucks. Not to mention the moustache.

no his Macho Manliness is hilarious and some of Dexters Best Scenes are with Doakes.

The actor reminds me of Keith David which is always a good thing.

I wont deny this. Although, Dexters awesomeness more than occasionally rubs off on lesser, shittier characters. The sucky characters appear far more suckier when he isn't around to balance things out.

wow this show is getting great, I thought season 2 was headed toward the gutter but it was all buildup for goodness.

This is basically like Death Note but with real life and it is realistic, unlike Death Note, but both are great. I just hope this show doesn't run into too many seasons to be milked

I really didn't think Dexter would be
a target of the investigation
. The beautiful thing about it is that his
DNA probably won't be found anywhere on the box Doakes found
. Totally took me off guard because I figured he'd
catch Doakes before being reported
.

I think it's on Showtime's Dexter website

I think Dexter can still come out of this one. Doakes took his slides without any warrant and no one besides him knows he got them from Dexter's place. It's his word against Dexter's, and Doakes now has a history in the eyes of the police thanks to Dexter.

He just needs to play ignorance and work on the "Doakes is setting me up" angle.

The one thing he needs to worry about is the police getting a search warrant and finding his bag of happy knives.

a HUGE LOL @ Masuka's gun :lol

I bet Dexter is going to make everyone think that those blood slides are Doakes'. But the show continues to surprise me so anything can happen.

I want to chop this one into little pieces for the annoyance it causes me. This is cute gone overboard to the point of irritation.

Hmm.... REDRUM!!!

The entire Deb at Lundy's place felt awkward. But if I was a 50 something guy, that's the ideal situation. I don't think the writers will repeat waht they did in season 1, where Deb is completely betrayed. That would be too obvious. And in this show nothing is really what it seems. That's what I love about it.

Don't confuse your love for Dexter with your hate for Doakes. I find Doakes hilarious and a great foil for Dexter. I don't want him to catch Dex, of course, but I appreciate him and his role in the show.

And that's bullshit about Dexter's awesomeness rubbing off on Doakes. Those scenes wouldn't work if it was someone other than Doakes and that actor. A hero is only as great as his antithesis. He's like Onyx Blackman from Strangers with Candy.

Doakes was different in the newest episode. He wasn't writhing in hate and angriness. His stroll with LaGuerta had him calm and normal. He wasn't overacting or anything.

Totally agree. The stuff about Doakes over-acting is ridiculous to me. His character instinctively hates Dexter. That's the relationship. He's doesn't need to be an overly complex character. I'm also one one of the few people in this thread who apparently doesn't "root" for Dexter although enjoy the drama and his character and the acting a ton. Sort of like the Shield or the Sopranos. I'm not rooting for Tony or Vic either in the sense that I identify or approve of those characters. A part of me even wants him to be caught.

Well thats probably part of it. I love Dexter and then we have this ass wipe who can only see the bad in him and actively tries to destory him because of his instincts and suspicious. I mean it IS compelling viewing and I love this entire plot line but my love for Dexter makes me hate characters that hate him, I guess.
However, I dont find Doakes "hilarious" Maybe sparodically amusing. Mostly irritating.
