Diablo twitter: "Blizzcon will be really cool this year :-)"

Would love an expansion to Diablo 3, it's been getting quite a few updates, but it's mostly for high end grinding. Would really like a new Act, with some new monsters and levels.

Or a full new Diablo game.

I know someone who is still playing Diablo 3. So if that game still has an active userbase, I can see Blizzard continuing to invest resources into that with another expansion.

Diablo 2 remake using their current engine would probably make a shitton of money, but I'm not sure the creative teams there are interested in doing that.

I know they had planned for 2 D3 expansions. Personally I'd prefer D4 at this point.
The ending of RoS pretty clearly set up a D4, instead of the original planned expansion. I don't think they expected just how godlike RoS would be, otherwise they probably wouldn't have done that.

Given D3's success D4 coming sooner than later isn't all that surprising. If another expansion was in the works I think we would have heard something by now. It will still be years away with remasters coming to PC/consoles to keep us busy until then. (Or maybe this is just wishful thinking)

Either remake D2 or make D4, I would prefer the latter but I could also do with the former.

Or ideally, release a D2 remaster and also announce D4.

I'm guessing more along the lines of D3 expansion 2 or 'reveal' of the D2 remake.

D4 seems a little too soon, considering - unless they've retooled a bunch of D3's arguable missteps, and have something significant enough besides to make d4 a value proposition.

What's with all the people expecting Diablo IV? Surely it's way too early for something like that. New content is still coming out for III on a fairly regular basis - it's got to be an expansion. Wasn't D3 supposed to have multiple expansions anyway?

An HD re[master/make] of Diablo II would be kinda neat too, I guess, but it really needs some kind of endgame. (No, killing Hell Baal and co. 2,716 times isn't one.)

This probably nothing but at the blizzard booth here at gamescom I thought it was weird that for all games that are playable they use the full name.(the wow booth has the title World Of Warcraft: Legion, ect) But for Diablo where 3 is playable it just says diablo. The pins they give at the booth is the boxart for 3 but it just says Diablo. I don't know. It probably mean absolutly nothing.

Demo of Diablo 4 followed by release five years later.

I hope the next Diablo game is not bound by the general Blizzard writing and visual style. I would like to see a more dark aesthetic, and no campy writing with every character cracking jokes all the time. Also player versus player should not be completely ignored. We want those arena battles.

A remake of Diablo 2 would also be awesome. It doesn't really matter... just take my money.

Well, we do know they were hiring for classic games (SC, D2, War 3) to "restore them to glory":

Wouldn't surprise me if we got an announcement for that.

I also expect a new diablo game than a new expansion pack. There have been big updates after ROS that they could easily have saved for a new expansion pack. No, I think they have moved on to making a new Diablo game. They also had job listings for an unannounced project in the Diablo universe:
http://eu.blizzard.com/en-gb/company/careers/posting.html?id=160006V

It's been 4 years and an announcement doesn't mean it will release straight away. It will probably take at least another 2 years before release going by Blizzards past.

Nope. Not gonna bite. Gotta manage my expectations. Maybe they'll announce a handful of new bounties or a couple new legendary gems. Perhaps even a new set per class.

Hoping for D3X2 or D4 or even a D2Remake are the path to disappointment.

I dont know if its been too long for a new D3 xpac. If it does turn out to be D4 it needs to have most of the current D3 feature set as standard.

That's my thinking as well, personally I would prefer a substantial expansion for D3. If it's to be D4 it cannot be released as bare boned as D3 was.

Hopefuly it's Diablo 2 HD. I have zero hopes for D4 considering it will be on console day-1 which means we can say good bye to any kind of depth in terms of gameplay or character development.

Too early for D4, remake of D2 would still be D2, so its time for a great big D3 Expansion pack!

Why exactly is it too early? Is there some law that states Blizzard is supposed to take twelve years to release a new game in the franchise?

Diablo - 1996
Diablo 2 - 2000
Diablo 3 - 2012

It's 2016, and even if they did announce it now, it would most likely not be out until late 2017 or early 2018.

Diablo III expansion with a new hero, couple of new acts and a big new feature.

World of Diablo (never going to happen, but it's the only way I can see myself getting back into MMOs)

Diablo II remake with some 2016 QoL improvements, 4K textures and all that jazz.

Diablo IV on a brand new engine (I've had stuttering since the original beta spanning across 3 different PCs, even at 60fps locked. The PS4 version doesn't have the same problem for me).

I hope it isn't some Diablo-theme Overwatch skins. It would be a pretty disappointing announcement for me personally.

The skins themselves can be cool as hell tho.

Diablo 3 at its current state is possibly fantastic, but there's no doubt that it had a bad stigma tied to it with its terrible initial release. While RoS pulled many back in, I don't think a second expansion would sell like hotcakes.

Best move is still a Diablo 2 remake (cash in on nostalgia), or Diablo 4.

Why people say it would be too early for Diablo 4?

Diablo 3 Vanilla was borderline disaster zone that they tried to desperately patch up and adjust. Then lead developer and some of the team got changed all together for RoS that went to the town with D3 and started to redesign it. Add features, adjust skill to item synergies and move more heavily towards item builds. Current team has moved quite a bit away from original vision, but without redoing whole thing there is only so much they can do to the game.

To me it would make sense for Blizzard to start from clean slate with Diablo 4 and have it build from ground up as better Diablo game than 3 was or can be.

Personally I'd prefer a Diablo 3 expansion simply due to the fact that we'd very likely get it sooner but a Diablo 4 is good as well. Don't really care about Diablo 2 so a remake/remaster of that isn't something that interests me.

Pretty sure it won't be Diablo 4. Mostly likely a Diablo 3 expansion or content patch. Maybe a Diablo 2 remaster if we're really lucky.

Diablo 4? are guys insane? it's way too early for it.

New expansion for D3 or remake.

Why? Because in past Blizzard has taken ages with actual sequels? If RoS is any indicator they aren't happy about where D3 Vanilla took image of Diablo franchise, but doing expansions can only do so much to core designs.

Ditto on D3/D4. While I'd prefer a D3 expansion, I wouldn't mind Diablo 4. I really don't understand the "it's too soon" reasoning. As far as D2 goes I'd love a remake/remaster, but not over more D3 or D4.

I'm ready for Diablo 4. I've put in 700+ hours into D3 and I don't think a single new act or class is enough to pull me back into the game now. The seasons aren't that interesting anymore either, especially with the insane power creep going on.

But the single biggest reason to hope for a new game is so that they can fix some of the fundamental flaws with D3 (like having all your damage tied to your weapon DPS).

I mean, 10 year anniversary of Blizzcon, 25 year anniversary of Blizzard and 20 year anniversary for Diablo... There has to be something.

Wouldn't that be a bit much at once?
Or are you just talking announcement.
My hope would be a release of D2HD at the end of the year and D4 for Christmas 2017.

Just as an announcement yeah. And when I say D4, I just mean "a new diablo game" in a broader sense.

Because they were just hiring for a new game director in july.
