Did anyone here actually catch'em all?

Closest I got was the original R/B. Got all except Tauros and Kangaskhan. I found a Tauros using the Seafoam glitch but accidentally ran from the battle. Didn't want to waste my time in the Safari Zone so that's that.

i got everything up to Gen 4, including the event pokes (thanks GTS)

haven't really tried for the Gen 5 dex but i'm missing very few pokes. might get them between now and Gen 6.

I tried back in the Red/Blue and Gold/Silver days, but not since. I only catch Pokemon I plan to use.

I initially got 150 in Red, including Mew (via clone trick, I was missing Magmar), but my save corrupted. I restarted and got all 151, which was still there last time I checked it.

I never completed Silver, but I did almost complete Ruby (only missing Mew and Celebi). I never tried with Diamond, since I didn't like trading with random people online (easy to hack a DS) but I'll likely try it with X/Y, since I'll have my DS Lite and 3DS (and likely a 3DSXL by then) so I can trade Pokemon I've caught myself.

Red Blue Gold and Silver were pretty easy since every kid had a copy in the neighborhood and ToysRUs was a 10 minute drive away. When generations started getting harder to cross and most of my friends stopped playing Pokemon it got hard. I wouldn't even know how to go about getting all Pokemon now.

What games would it take to complete a Pokemon Black 2 Nationaldex?

The closest I ever got was on Pokemon Crystal. I just needed Tyranitar, Celebi, and Mew.

I ended up losing the cart. Haven't cared about catching them all since.

I had no interest in Pokemon until R/S/E and I surprisingly traded em all with friends and completed both Pokedexes.

Not worth the time and effort now with so many Pokemon now. I just aim to complete the bulk of the story and sidequests.

never had the chance to complete R/B/Y because none of my friends had any Link Cables so no trades. During G/S/C, many of my friends stopped playing so I was stuck with whatever is in my game, was very disappointed that I couldn't get Scizor or Steelix at that time since I need to trade to evolve them. I had no trading access in R/S/E/FR/LG because again, no one had link cables at that time. The only time I experienced trading in Gen III was through an emulator. During D/P/P, I caught every Pokemon that could be caught just by owning Diamond and Pearl. When HG/SS was released, I technically could get to 493 at that time by simply evolving and breeding, I however got tired since I was busy at school at that time. When B/W was released, I transferred everything I have from Soul Silver and reached 646/649. Keldeo, Meloetta and Genesect was still not available at that time. With B2/W2, I just traded everything again from B/W and thanks to the promotional Genesect Im now at 647/649. Still screwed because of event Keldeo and event Meloetta which is are not available outside of events.

I did in Red, including Mew, though that was from a friend who wanted it back straight away and who knows if it was actually a legit one.

I haven't since then and I don't see myself ever managing it again. I would like to though.

I got around 73-74 normal stickers and 40 ish Thing sticker in Paper Mario Sticker star. Might try to catch em all one day. I was really into the museum.

I caught almost all the Unova pokemon in Pokemon Black and intended to complete it with a sequel/third version that always comes out.

However, after the news came that Pokemon B2/W2 were DS games, I abandoned it.

Yup, caught em all in Soul Silver. Took fucking forever, and trading between 5 games, but I did it.

Completed the pokedex in Pokemon White as well, although not the national dex.

Got all 150 legitimately in Blue Version. I felt very proud, then promptly began a new game a week later for some reason. So dumb.

Kabuto was the last guy I got. I had previously been traded a Kabutops, but my friend had to start his game over to get me the unevolved form. I will always be thankful.

Fucking Kabuto was my last pokemon too. Nobody had it non evolved!

I'll admit, the last time I actually had time to do that properly was back with the original Gen II Silver version. Haven't had the time to do that since, though I still make an effort at it with every new generation.

Did in Diamond. Took a lot of trading and I figure at least a handful of the harder to find Event Pokemon were probably hacked in... but I filled the Dex and that's good enough for me.

Yep did it for Pokemon Blue. Also got them all in Silver but it was a chore.

Then OCD got the better of me. Knowing I'll never get them all again, I decided to drop the series, and I don't think I'll ever pick it up again

I got 151 in Red/Blue. Thank you glitches! I'd say I only got about 140 the "correct" way though... never completed any dex 100% legit.

I did it on Crystal! All 251 were mine for several years... until its battery died, along with my invincible level 100 team :_______(

That's why I managed to transfer the PKMN I got in Sapphire and LeafGreen to a secure save file in Diamond. I don't even have all PKMN from Gen 3-4 and I haven't even bothered on Gen 5, so I guess I might bite again with X/Y and take it to the fullest (if it happens to appeal beyond the graphics).

No. I tried on White 2 but I still need a few of them. Eventually I will end up missing Victini, Keldeo and meloetta anyway... T.T

Did it back in G/S/C.

Came pretty close in Gen 1 and Gen 3.

After Gen 3 though, I kinda quit giving a damn on catching 'em all. Too many of them now!

I'm trying to find the video of a kid that's running like 4 Gameboys at once trying to get a super rare pokemon. I think it was some kind of unicorn he finds it loses his shit. It's pretty funny.

I did for the original 151 (including Missingno). Started playing White lately and thought about doing it again and then saw that there were 650 Pokémon now. Hahahahaha. Yeah, no.

I forget exactly what's available where, but for the most part, nearly all the common Pokemon are available in Black/White and the version 2 pair. The remainder would be a couple of the box legendaries and some of the one-offs.

Off the top of my head... White 2, for version exclusives and legendaries, HeartGold and SoulSilver for Kanto/Johto/Hoenn starters and legendaries, Diamond or Pearl and Platinum for the remaining Gen IV Pokemon and legendaries.

You'd still have to make some trades for the remaining set of starters. In fact, with trading there's very little need for the others either, unless you really wanted to collect them yourself.

I actually collected all 150 with my brother in the original. I was so obsessed with it, I became really upset when I found you couldn't get mew (I actually tried all the rumors out) without living in a big city. Eventually I got him with a gameshark.

I don't even want to think how much time it takes to collect all of them with the last few gens. What is it, 500 or so pokemon now?

Six hundred forty-nine.

The beauty of GTS is that you can trade with anyone overseas, and that the games nowadays are very lenient (they consider just seeing the Pokemon as enough). With that said it's still a chore so I won't do it lol

I got the Unova dex complete save for Meloetta.

I caught all 140ish in the original blue while my cousin who had whatever the other color was at the time(red? yellow?) got his. It took forever, but we were young and on summer vacation when we did most of it. I don't remember if trading was available back then, but eventually we used a gameshark and got mew and the ones we didnt have at the very end.

All in Pokemon Gold. A year ago I tried to bask in the joy of seeing all of the Pokemon, but I got greeted by "New game" :(

I got the Unova dex complete save for Meloetta.

When you think about it though, just seeing a pokemon makes sense enough to put it in the dex.
