Did Bloodborne's visuals get downgraded after the latest patch?

These shots remind me that they could make the game look much better and marginally increase performance by "downgrading" (that is, turning off) CA.
Sadly, I really doubt the performance would be affected any. The game actually holds 30FPS pretty well, the problem with it is frame pacing, and unless they would fix whatever the hell is broken in their engine, that issue wouldn't go away with removing any of the visual effects. Admittedly, it would probably go away if they'd remove enough so that the game can hit steady 60FPS but not before that.

Some lights were removed, looks like it. Whether you like that or not is up to you.

That said some people would say there is no downgrade at all with any game until there is something internally changed in the engine. Like if all the times of day or light conditions are not changes themselves that require different amounts of work to make them look great.

Though it looks pretty minor, it may have been done for performance reasons.

Did anyone check to see if certain areas or multiplayer run better?

Also, I really forgot how much the Chromatic Aberration annoyed me in certain bits of this game. If there's ever a re release 1 or 2 generations from now I hope they tone it down.

The reduced or in some cases removed ao is a bummer and a loss while I think the paired back bloom is a huge improvement; it's a give and take.

I think BB is one of the few games where CA makes sense due to the dream-like atmosphere.

CA was added at literally the last minute. My guess is that a suit at sony wanted them to do something about the poor image quality and they added it at the last second. All pre-release footage doesn't have CA.

It's funny that you think that a "suit" even knows what CA is.

When can people get off the "graphical downgrade" outrage train and get on the "maybe this will improve FPS" positivity bandwagon? I mean it's easy to grab pitchforks anytime you notice screenshot differences, but I'd always rather have a game that plays at a more consistent, faster framerate. And usually these situations are tradeoffs between the two.

This downgrade is soooo blatant, oh man. No wonder everyone noticed it right away since this patch from.... last December!

Look at some of those pixels. They are, like, almost marginally different. How dare they!

From Software is so dishonest, man. They downgrade so stealthily and no one notices for over seven months! SMH

I don't get it nobody is grabbing pitchforks or angry, i just made the comparison because it was interesting. It doesn't make the game any less enjoyable like i said some areas see a downgrade and others don't. When you factor in reduced loading times and improved framerate who could complain. However there is still a difference. How dare me for pointing things out.

Funny people joking about dishonesty after what happened with ds2 and bloodborne alpha....lol

Good post, mate.
Now I wish Neo has a framerate improved version, would buy that in a instant.

I would actually go with increased resolution in BB. The image quality is terrible.

I don't see enough to call it a downgrade..

Differences yes, maybe, but a downgrade? The game's been tweaked over the last patches and offer a pretty solid experience in a technical point of view, especially considering the hardware it runs on.

Doesn't BB have moving clouds and fog. Couldn't they have just been in a different position when the different pictures were taken?

You know the guy in the 2nd vid has his brightness cracked pretty high? He says so in the comments. That, and the vid is 720P vs the 1080P original and compressed as hell...

That comparison is really disingenuous.

the game was downgrade for sure, not at the same lvl as dark souls 2, take a look.

candles from retail version missed all the light/shadow effects, and the game looks less dark.

They are not the highest quality pixels that anybody has seen.

Great one. This thread made it again... I was all: urrrggg I have to work, then I remember this thread and smiled again...

Probably, but you know, is a downgrade xD
