I'm watching Rocky IV or AMC, they're doing a marathon, and Drago is beating the living snot out of Apollo. Like, his life force is leaving his body with every punch. Everyone is yelling at Rocky to throw in the towel, but he's hesitates and lets Apollo get murdered with punches. Then you see Apollo dying in Rocky's arms. I think Rocky should've been held at least partially culpable for letting his friend die like that in an exhibition bout.

apollo shouldnt have even fought him

he went in knowing what it could mean

i mean it worked out in the end since rocky personally won the cold war so whatever

Apollo specifically told Rocky not to throw the towel even as he was getting the crap beat out of him.

Creed was in his 40s and fresh out of retirement for that fight. He should have never been allowed in the ring.

Creed could have dropped at any time and get counted out.

But he let pride get in his way

Ergo, pride killed Creed

or a super sweaty Russian boxer dude.

If my friend told me not to throw in the towel, but I see him repeatedly getting hit in the head with 1850PSi punches, I'm gonna throw in the damn towel.

Didn't Apollo talk to Rocky in the pool about how people like them want to die in the ring and how it was destined?

I'm sure Apollo is looking down on Rocky from the heavens thankful that he didn't throw in the towel while his face was being turned into mashed potatoes by a roided out Soviet monster.

yes he did in a way. apollo's pride wouldn't let him give up in the ring so it was the job of his corner men to look out for his safety above all else. rocky made an executive decision that apollo's pride was worth more than his life so he let it rock. rocky looking at drago with hate in his eyes after the fight is over is stupid because drago did his job as a boxer and it was rocky who failed miserably at his.

The robot did it.

Apollo was an idiot and an attention whore.

He had a wife, children, and the lunatic wanted nothing more in life than to go out with a bang, to hell with everyone else. And don't try to convince that he didn't know he was going to die, oh he knew in that last round.

Adrian is the smartest person in the whole series. She is always the voice of reason. She told Apollo not to fight, she told him man.

Apollo is like that 'Let me bang, bro!' guy, except he actually did bang. The canvas, when he died :p

She did her weird cat shop voodoo to him man!

This is the same Adrian that told Rocky he couldn't beat Drago when they were talking at the stairs though.

The towel wouldn't have stopped Drago. He would've ignored it and pushed the ref out of the way and killed Creed anyway.

Apollo told Rocky like 5 times at the end of the first round not to throw in the towel.

Rocky picks up the towel and has a deer in headlights moment,

Also, throwing in the towel was no guarantee about anything. The referee was trying to stop the fight for a good 10 seconds before drago threw the finishing blow, throwing in the towel would not have done anything.

Drago was on a mission to knock him down (which resulted in death), and nothing was getting in his way.

I hated how Apollo died in Rocky IV. Rocky III was all about how Rocky lost his "Eye of the Tiger" and went into the Clubber fight cocky and with barely any training. Why would Apollo do the exact same thing he taught Rocky NOT to do?

bro, I doubt Apollo ever stopped training. He lived for this bro.

Definitely, I don't care if it was against Apollo's wishes, Rocky's responsibility as the man in his corner was to throw in the towel.

Like The Boss, he sacrificed his reputation and ultimately himself to inspire Rocky to overcome Communism for 'MERICA

A true patriot
