Clearly I should have knocked on wood.

Turns out avatars were pushing us up against the throughput limits our host puts on a single server. And then moving things around triggered server crashes.

Fun times.

Usually when the site makes some sweeping change I am opposed to it. Removing animated Avatars and removing smileys were just excellent ideas. You guys are on a roll. And thank you Pony GAF, I would like to believe that you were a major contributor to this change. You not only destroyed your own shitty Meme but also improved the site through your actions.

To set up your avatar, click on the User CP at the top navigation bar, then Edit Avatar, then either provide the system with a link for the image you'd like to use or choose a file from your computer. Either way, the image will be hosted on the NeoGAF servers, so there are no worries about finding a webhost for your image.

I hope you are talking about me, because I could not be less bitter. Good has won over evil and all is right in the world, well at least in Neogaf world. You can give me a million pony avatars and I do not give a shit, but when they move around it stirs something up in me. But if they sit still fuck it, I almost enjoy their dead look and lack of emoting. I can see them as ironic at that point.

I do not get where the whole you think I am angry about something comes from. I never hated pony GAF, that thread was amazing entertainment. The avatars bugged me a bit though, not sure why, maybe because half of the people who used them were doing it to irritate people. Or I am very anti clique. Those who were into the show I had no problem with, it was those that were trolling that were the dicks. Either way it is not a problem anymore.

It could have just as easily been Community, something I enjoy, but I hate the GAF community behind it. Their avatars were annoying, and there was cult mentality behind them.

Just pick a persona and stick with it. Mine is Pearl Jam, if I start to hate them then I will change it. I just generally hate trendy behavior because it shows a lack of individuality. But the fact that I choose a certain popular band to represent myself makes this all a bit hypocritical.

I am not "mad" nor was I ever. Pony GAF was the big animated avatar of the moment, and I always hated animated avatars because of how they effected my computer and I am happy to see them gone. Simple as that. For the pony trolls I get a certain amount of satisfaction, and for those who enjoy the show they still get their pony avatars and I have nothing against them.

I don't know about everyone else but I tend to rock Gundam stuff. Except during NCAA tourney, or athletic playoffs, then team logos are good.

Otherwise...99.9% of my avatars are Gundam related.

EDIT: I'm a Zaku (close enough though lol)

I was just wondering why no one has been able to get some gif avatars. The rule is it has to be under 50kb right?

Is there really no one whose found 50kb gif avatars yet?

all avatars are now hosted internally so its not the avatars. somebody must of posted a picture that was hosted on that site in some thread.

Yeah a change I hoped would happen,,,, happened, and I am pissed off about it. The same as when my favorite team won the Super Bowl I was bitter about it. I am also bitter about my first kiss, The Beatles White Album, and the incarceration of murderers and rapists. I am so pissed off at all of the the things I enjoy it is driving me mad.
 
Don`t agree with the reasons behind the change at all but this isn`t my website so hence I bring you my new avatar
