Man, I can't stop thinking of the HBO re-imagining of SBTB. Have Zack be a Sean Bateman-styled sociopath. Slater could be a jock struggling with his homosexuality (hence his dancing prowess). Jessie could be working as some sort of stripper/hooker junkie at a local, barely legal (and often not) joint. I think Screech's nerdiness would have to be notched down a bit, to make him more of a normal, if unpopular, high school guy. Being that nerds are in, he could still wear it on his sleeve a bit, but I think he's the closest chance a redo would have at a sympathetic protagonist. Also, Mr. Belding would have to be banging one of the other characters I haven't named.

I'm not quite sure. I'm aware that the show had some measure of legit popularity, but I've only seen so much of it because I was a total latchkey kid and it was on before and after school every weekday and I didn''t have anything better to do. I can't comprehend any fandom arising around the show myself.

Yeah I'm surprised the New Class lasted so long. If i remember right, the second season they got rid of most of the cast, and it lasted long enough that one class graduated and they did it again.

I remember Zack conning Screech out of a load of money for some rigged pool on when Belding's baby would be born. Stealing money from your friends in real life is one of the ultimate dickish moves.

I remember seeing him at the wedding series. He was this totally soul-less Beverly Hills CEO type who refused to go to Zach's wedding.

He also gambled away Screech's Mom's dog during a poker game....AT SCREECH'S HOUSE!

and then used Jesse to whore herself to Nerdstrum to get the dog back. Zack always had other people bail him out of situations he put himself in!

how about when Zack was trying to pledge a fraternity in middle school (as if that premise wasn't fucked up enough) called the "Rigmas" and they made him do all kinds of fucked up shit to his friends, only to find out they were playing him. I think thats where the sociopathic Zack Morris was born.

So who was Zack's real best buddy? Screech or Slater. I think he stuck with Screech for so long because he made him look good, but Slater was his real bro-mate. They were almost the same person, but both had elements that the other desired.

But yeah I think through the high school years Zack almost ended up with pretty much every lead female character.

Another odd thing about SBTB, despite all these relationships throughout the series they never once mentioned sex. The relationships seem to always peak at just being able to make out, just kissing, no fondling, no rubbing, etc etc.

Speaking of Jesse's brother, (the guy who could single-handily re-assemble a Mazda Miata in a few hours)didn't he agree to stay (and keep Zack on his toes), only to mysteriously disappear?

And speaking of Miatas, why the fuck would Belding:

a) be able to afford to buy his wife a new car but not be able to afford a simple car radio install and

b) buy a fucking convertible for same said wife that was pregnant with a new baby?
