Digimon Adventure Tri will be streamed on Crunchyroll

Yeahhhhhhhhh if they're smart they'll avoid doing 02's awful epilogue. The idea of everyone having digimon and all the characters future jobs was just beyond dumb.

I can get past mostly everything... except the future jobs.

Mainly because some of them popped literally out of no where. As if any character development was thrown away. Not even a sentence that states "they did this because this happened during high school" or something like that.

Astronaut Yamato still being the weirdest and most wtf of them all.

If all of the 02 epilogue makes it back in, I will be disappointed. Though it would be somewhat funny to watch the writers scramble to make astronaut Yamato sensical.

Over on wtw, a CR member confirmed to the admin that Tri is going up in episodic format meaning the first OVA is being split into episodes that will all be available at the same time.

OHHHHHH SHHIIIITTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!! BEST NEWS ALL DAY!!!!!!

And now, us Chosen Children will unite. (Or since this has English subs, would Digidestened be more apropro?)

We gonna have a IRC for this? We probably should so that we can be disappointed excited together.

Another good thing: Since CR is doing this, the subs will be much better than the Toei ones from Netflix. The most inconsistent subs I've seen.

CR will be consistent with whatever terms they use (ie they won't switch from chosen to digidestined back to chosen. or anything >.>)

I want to believe that those first five minutes are
us watching the series 2 kids all die
because that would be great.

is there like a day pass or something for crunchyroll? I'm not a subscriber.

I think there's a higher chance they ignore stuff rather than retcon.

The kids in Digimon are all really young so its not all that crazy. The only one that really stands out to me is the astronaut job.

It's not crazy if we were talking about real life kids growing up, but when you are telling a story in a children's show format, the characters should stay logical to what we've seen of them.

Yeah I know they are young but they just never got character development that leads us to believe they could become what they did.

Hell if anything, I'd have expected their childhood jobs to not be what they end up. (Hikari and Daisuke in particular since they mentioned what they wanted to be).

And the middle school kids being the older ones (Joe even studying for his High School Entrance exams), sure they could have gotten some development? Then again they got almost none in 02 even when they were featured a lot.

Not even a line explaining why they ended up in their jobs. Nothing.

But the Astronaut one is the biggest offender. It LITERALLY came out of nowhere.

But in Tri, all but the youngest few are in High School, there should be character development and if Taichi's profile is to be believed, we'll see some (on the website it says "but lately he's also been worrying about where he's headed in life." so we'll see)

Also I really liked 02 >.> just incase this seems like I hate it as much as everyone else

I also hope Hikari gets treated better in Tri.

ok, I'm done now <.<

The majority of the jobs fit the characters are pretty logical to them.

I'm not going to argue against 02 having a bad ending, but they were never going to into that much detail.

The first 5 minutes (see above) makes this a little more complicated but yes 02 happened. :) but how the series ends is up to debate. Will it set up the 02 ending in it's entirety or not?

if not, I hope they at least add some character development to justify the ending. It'd make it up a little to me then.

But I'm still totally hyped for this :D YES

I just watched it...

And, Jesus Christ on a pojo stick, that was a violent way to start this series! :(

I know Adventure 02 is pretty hated among the fan-base (I honestly don't mind it and Veemon was my favourite Digimon as a kid), but yikes!

"She's got a love for icecream, the ability to wake up her older brother, and a bike. Welp, we've got Hikari's arc done, let's go for lunch!" - Tri writers

:(

I'm not going to argue against 02 having a bad ending, but they were never going to into that much detail.

If they did, it'd have avoided a lot of issues (outside of shipping wars. that was ALWAYS going to end badly). I mean people got attached to these characters, ya know? :(

Plus it was tacked onto the end of a stupid stupid way to finish the final battle. Which was literally "LET'S BE POSITIVE" (along with one final s hot after said positivity weakened him) so in a way, it was just a horrible ending to a horrible episode.

My favourite part was seeing all the Evolutions again. Reminded me of Adventure 01s all evo section.

Yeah, the majority of them do. People mostly complain about Sora, Miyako, Yamato, and sometimes Mimi's epilogues when they complain about the jobs.

Well that and how hilariously successful Daisuke is for running a noodle cart.

Ken and Iori's jobs are perfect though, someone was awake when they were writing their's.

Yeah, Ken and Iori's were perfect. Though Iori being a cop like his father was also viable but he's mostly non-violent and would prefer to do things through non-fighting means so it worked out well for him regardless

02 is a very flawed series.

The only one I really see an issue with is Matt/Yamato and even then that has more to do with how random it is.

I know, right? Veemon is one of the few Digimon that had my favourite Fresh>In-Training>Rookie evolution chart (even though his actual Champion stage was kind of "meh" to me). When it came to the others, it was never ""Yeah, I like this. Pretty cute and awesome!", as it was more along the lines of "Eh, I'm not digging this too much, but I like this stage."

With that said, Tentomon was my favourite Digimon (and evolutionary line) from the Adventure 01 series, & Pabumon melts my heart.

I mean, look at him!

MERCHANDISE!

Just a taste: Wizardmon, cute Omegamon, and hipster Gabumon.

02 is a very flawed series.

The only one I really see an issue with is Matt/Yamato and even then that has more to do with how random it is.

Sora: Even if you argue that her character direction is in becoming more feminine, she shows no interest in fashion design. Complaints about her job tie into Mimi's, since Mimi makes waaaay more sense as a fashion designer, stating her love of fashion multiple times and living in New York. Honestly, I think working as a flower arranger or teacher to fall in line her mom would have made more sense.

Miyako: One of her (many) character flaws is being uncomfortable in a large family. This is never fully resolved. She also shows a lot of interest in computers, but ends up doing nothing with that? She could have worked from home or something.

Yamato: Yeah... what?

Technically it's 6 OVAs but they are being split into 4 episodes for the first one and those 4 (aka the whole of OVA1, titled "Reunion") will be up today/tomorrow.

OVA2 will be up in Winter according to the post. Probably by Feb/March if that's accurate.

Ah OK, regardless I'll keep an eye out for it and it being on Crunchyroll is great for me.

remember when this was suppose to be a Spring release with all those eggs we needed to hatch...

but I'm so glad its finally here I hope its worth the wait

Just signed up for Crunchyrolls free trial! I'm ready digimon.

Yeah the jobs were insulting.

Sora into fashion and not Mimi? Mimi baking? Matt an Astronaut? Just weird choices. Even Tai's going into business was weird since I expected them to at least make one of Sora, Tai, Davis or Ken a soccer star.

I'd actually argue that Taichi is one of the most sensible choices based on the ending (Digital and real world being in contact with each other) as he is a political figure working for the good of both worlds and who better than the original leader of the chosen to represent both worlds.

At least that is how I see it.

All I want is for Wargreymon to get some kind of boost to put him back at the top. My mind will never be at rest knowing the OG is one of the weakest of the main character megas.

Well we know it will be Omegamon who is the main star of this OVA! So he will be part of the top 2 Megas (War and Metal) :D

Watched the first five minutes. Notice how they did not "bump" the timeline to modern times, so it's still 90s-early 00s there with dumbphones and all!

Oh shit it's gonna be episodic?

Not as hype as I would be if it were 24 episode 2-cour show like I was initially promised but.

Still p hype.

6 OVAs, only being split into episodes for CR. (4 eps = the first OVA).

It does mean a higher budget and it shows it based on the CM/first 5 minutes along with the previous promotional footage that has been shown. Animation looks gorgeous <3
