Digital Foundry - Cyberpunk 2077 PC Version First Impressions

If you are going to subtract 50% points from overall visuals due to character NPCs (I'm not really sure if you are comparing Horizon or God of War NPCs to it because they don't look anywhere close to spectacular), then you might as well say that you think there are PS4 games that look better than Cyberpunk on a PC with max'd settings on RT. And with that, we might as well end the discussion. From your perspective, there will NEVER be a PC game that beats out your PS games no matter what generation.

no, my argument wasn't based solely on NPCs, it's only one factor

I think Cyberpunk may be the best looking game on the market today...but I think it's going to be beaten very quickly once true next gen games release

UE5 running on a PS5 for instance is significantly more impressive

It really important for some posters on GAF for the PS5 to be the actual, no really, no kidding this time, greatest gaming device in history with the bestest graphics due to the power of Cerny and the tools and they've only scratched the surface blah blah God Of War.

It looks like Cyberpunk 2077 will be a technical benchmark for a significant amount of time, and the best place to play it will be on the PC. I get that you're all excited about your PS5's, but this is how it is. You have to get over it. You have to learn to let it go.

Watching some of the new footage, I think Spider-Man is equally as impressive. Ray tracing in a dense city with far more pedestrians, it just looks more alive.

cyberpunk is pretty with a good art style but I don't see anything it's doing that Spider Man isn't

How come this video releases in 4k but the console comparison videos always have an excuse for not being 4k?
Because DF are PC shills, they got bored of being Xbox shills, they changed about a week ago I think

I read that if you play Spiderman on your dream powering Playstation 5 instead of Cyberpunk on your heathen, no-exclusives, overpriced PC, Mark Cerny himself will climb through your bedroom window that night and give you a tender, but firm, hand job.

Spider-Man only does reflections, and with a lot of compromises.

Honestly sitting here with an i7 8700K, RTX 2080 and feels like a pleb.

And it's not that pc parts move fast but in this year of absolute shit, it's just not the right time to upgrade for me. I'm lock and loaded on GoG and will give it a try tomorrow at various settings, depending on the type of performance I get I'll make a move for the PS5 version. I know I know but it's just psychological at that point.

PS5 version is just PS4 one in 60 fps, not bad but 2080 will give you far more options

will there ever be non multiplatform most impressive game on PC?
it's kind a disapointing if it's true from technology standpoint speaking most impressive game which you can play on last-gen consoles where differences doesn't do the justice of this statement.

Okay, thanks for pointing it out because you can't really tell otherwise...obviously not a big deal in comparison to other factors

MS Flight Sim, weird how people forgot this game which is a true next gen leap in so many ways.

So, your benchmark for how impressive a title is as a technological achievement is contingent upon whether or not it has been licensed for exclusive use by one system?

Man, you should just put me on your ignore list. There is nothing to really say when you are jockeying PS5 every single time a great looking 3rd party game comes out on PC that people boast looks amazing and has the tech to back it up.

UE5 demo does NOT look better than several games that are out even now let alone Cyberpunk. You are just holding on to that because it was done using the PS5. Pathetic.

some people here genuinely think this is peak graphics for the next 7 years, had a good chuckle at that

I know people take the piss with this game, but to me it's still the most impressive stuff I've seen. It's just the scale of it all.

Who is saying that?

Do you believe that now that Cyberpunk 2077 has proven to be superior on the PC, all PC tech will now suddenly cease development and the Cerny magical unicorn juice will kick in, leading to PS5 supremacy?

yeah cyberpunk looks great, I am not denying it

but it also doesn't look like some generational shifting game that's the second coming of Jesus for the next decade

it also looks comparable to some other games.

And you're delusional if you think UE5 doesn't represent a much bigger paradigm shift. Nothing on the market looks as richly detailed

Imagine getting triggered over a PC game having better graphics than consoles. Just accept it or you'll have a rough gen with consoles being terrible at RT and no DLSS. 30 series is already far above consoles. Just think about what 40 series will do in two years yikes.

The only one getting triggered are the PC master racists. It's not enough for you guys to have slightly more frames or pixels, apparently consoles are some terribly inferior experience. What a load of crap.

You're delusional if you think that the UE5 PS5 demo represents a more impressive use of emerging tech than Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K with full ray tracing. I wish I had a supplier of whatever it is that you're smoking, I'd get through life far more easily.

Can you tell me some of the ways that the PS5 version isn't inferior to the PC version running on capable hardware?

Waiting for the 10 series and 20 series benchmarks, since it is what most PC gamers will be using in practice.

depends on what you value. Ray tracing is nice, but in it's current form it's not that transformative

i think nanite tech is a much bigger leap, but that's more about detail than lighting

both are cool though
