Since people are recommending Phoenix Wright, I highly recommend Aviary Attorney. It's basically another Phoenix Wright game, although it's currently missing a couple of Chapters, I think, that are to be released soon. What is there is rather well made, however.
Didn't know these kinds of games were also considered visual novels, but they are entertaining. Aviary Attorney is supposed to be less forgiving, though.
