2001. Not that it isn't a great movie, or wasn't incredible in its time, but it's just that the other two have more powerful messages than 2001 to me.

I wouldn't say the other two have more powerful messages, they are just more obvious. The "true" message of 2001 has and always will be open to interpretation, it makes you think. Thats what makes it a beautiful movie.

Right now i'm counting 20 votes for Clockwork, 10 for Dr. Strangelove, and 7 for 2001.

Get in your votes before the round ends around midnight PST.

No more ultra violence. We're down to the final matchup!

It's like asking me to kill off one of my own children, and who could do something so unspeakably horrible?

...Except if one of your children is the brilliant 2001: A Space Odyssey, a work of unbridled genius that stands above every other movie ever made. So **** off, Dr. Strangelove.

Strangelove.

Also, Shining should be allowed a come back due to it being the best film of all time. Just sayin'.

dr. strangelove

as for 2001, i bet it has a script of 30 pages or something, there's very little dialogue in that movie which is probably what makes it so awesome.

You don't get much more opposite than these two films.

Strangelove with its constant darkly humorous banter versus 2001's near silence and loosely constructed narrative...

2001 is a boring movie watching experience. Strangelove is a delight.

I can't shake the following: I can no longer remember how many times I fell asleep trying to watch 2001 before I finally managed to finish it, whereas Strangelove had me riveted from the first time I watched it.

That alone informs my instincts: 2001 should go.

Also, Peter Sellers FTW.
