I have one of these. Due to the size of the plastic, it can really only catch baby/medium spiders, anything bigger and you're pretty much chopping its legs off.
Draw a circle around the spider with a sharpie. Then pour bottled pee just right outside around the circle. The spider would stay there, afraid to come on to your territory, die due to starvation. Or try to seduce the huge ass spider, sleep with it and then come back to us with a good story of how it felt.

So felt like updating people on the situation, after a few days of calm peaceful serenity the spiders have been crawling out of the woodwork. Have seen them in my kitchen and bathroom mostly, occasionally I notice one scurrying across the floor. Managed to catch a few though, released them later.
This is the smallest one I have seen, about half the width of a dollar bill. The plastic cup is the standard sort of thing they give you at McDonnalds when you order a Mocha or something.
Caught him in my kitchen. The ones I have been seeing recently I'm not sure if they are hobo spiders or not, look more like large generic house spiders. Which if its the ladder I don't really mind their presence, it is just the number see them in.
