Dishonored 2 PC performance thread

Wikipedia page says 5, because that's what most other sources have indicated. If it's 6, it certainly doesn't show.

Wikipedia's "majority" is two versus one. But, I mean, as I allude to, it's a rather meaningless distinction: an early fork of 6 is going to be more 5 than the 6 we know as the 6 we know was built upon 5.

What should I set the adaptive resolution? I am having hard time understanding it.

Apparently 100% is native resolution.

I'm not seeing very much aliasing with txaa, looks clean enough but there's the blur.

70mins in, reached the streets section, it haven't gone much further. There is some stutter. Hopefully the patch fixes this.

Does the vertical FOV seem off for anybody else? I feel like it should be bigger, but there's no way to set it separately from the setting that alters both horizontal and vertical.

Sorry, was on mobile, so I didn't know how many sources they'd found.

Also unfamiliar with how old 6 is, considering there's only 1 game made with it.

so there's still an upcoming prerelease patch since the game isn't out for everyone? Maybe I should stop playing since I'm actually dipping to 30fps sometimes when blinking rapidly and running fast

holyshit, my rig is like 2 weeks old and I already cant run shit on ultra, hahaha
When I got home from class around 2 hours ago, I had to download about 9GB, even though before leaving I had been unpacking the game.

Dunno if it was the update, though I know it's supposed to be roughly that size.

Looks like i'll be staying away until more patches hit.
There aren't any id Tech 5 games that run well, at launch, or post-launch. :/

I understand people disliking whenever people hate on a specific game engine like Unity, making assumptions about all of the games on that engine. But when the people who made the engine can't even make a game that runs well on it, you've got a problem.

Day 1 patch is already in the game. Game is officially out for millions in Oceania and EU.

Pretty much maxing out with locked 60 on my computer but I havent messed with adaptive resolution yet. Tutorial was completely stable but I imagine the campaign is a bit more open.

dang thats disappointing. THe first dishonored ran amazing for its time of release, it's a shame that this one seems to be a massive clusterfuck on PC. I can't believe people are not dipping below 60fps at 1440p on the exact same rig as me. What the fuck

There is prologue segment that runs very well, but when you land into Karnaca you will see "true performance" of the game. Even then FPS fluctuates a lot, depending on where you happen to stand and where you are looking at.

zero dips at all? what's your rig if you don't mind me asking

i7 6700k
MSI GTX 1070
16GB RAM
MSI M170A Tomahawk

I wouldnt necessarily take my word for gospel though because I'm new to PC. Others probably have a sharper eye.

Tutorial is not representative of the rest of the game.

Thought so. Just wanted to get in a test before bed.

I feel like a dumbass for preordering. The 9GB patch is definitely out?

Don't feel like a dumbass. I preordered too just to check performance ASAP so I could get a refund ASAP.

As much I was looking forward to the game, I will not tolerate shitty performance.

talking about refunds already guys? Was considering it too, but theres literally NOTHING else I want, so maybe I'll just keep it and HOPEFULLY they'll fix it. What do you think the chances are bethesda doesnt completely fuck this up?

tl;dr do you guys think who are just considering refunding think this atrocious performance will get fixed? No wonder they pretty adamant about Giantbomb not being able to look at graphical settings on testing it out on PC. Shit was probably all set to low.

Yes, refunding signals to the developer that we will not tolerate piss poor performance or optimization on games.

The game was running like a dog on maxed out rigs a month ago and in every video up to release. I doubt it's fixable, otherwise you would think they would have done it already so late in development.

Actually leaning towards that too. Goddamn shame as it was literally my most anticipated game of the year. I wonder if they're gonna make an excuse or actually fix it.

Dunno if it's been posted in here yet, but...

For PC gamers, the config file is located here:

%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Arkane Studios\dishonored2\base\dishonored2Config.cfg

For one reason or another, even though you can turn mouse smoothing down to 0, there's still a line in this file that says, g_mouseSmooth "1". Change the 1 to a 0. It seems to have fixed mouse smoothing issues I was having in-game, but I'm still having issues in menus.

Agreed.

Generally speaking, is the performance bad in that its not running as well as it should or is it actually making it unplayable?

Mouse smoothing in config file, dishonored2Config.cfg.

Where file is; C:\Users\<Insert_Username>\Saved Games\Arkane Studios\dishonored2\base

Cheers. I'll make the necessary edits shortly.

i'm actually considering setting everything low as possible just to get 100fps on my 1070 and just enjoying the game play. It's fucking with my head this game. I didnt expect it to be arkham 2.0 at all.

Turned V-sync on and had a huge improvement in judder and mouse controls. Still running on min settings but it's playable now. Hopefully will help some of you, too.

vsync does help a lot with the judder, but the judder got better with vsync off got better at the campaign, but maybe because the framerates tanked so much

Jesus, I thought there'd be some sort of substantial day one patch to take care of these issues but this port is a total shitshow. Massive problems with stuttering and framepacing, and I can't even get a consistent 60fps with the resolution set to 720p.

Rig:

3770k @ Stock
16gb 2400 Ram
GTX 970OC (+200mhz base clock, +500mhz mem clock).
Installed to SSD.

Well, at least the game looks good. It has the same excellent painterly aesthetic of the first, except now with the benefits of a better lighting engine and substantially more densely packed/detailed environments.

Currently playing it at 1440p Ultra with a framelimit to 30fps. Having to use the Steam Controller because mouselook at that framerate is puketastic.
