Dishonored 2 PC performance thread

A lot of folks are having issues where the cpu is capped at 100% usage no matter what when playing bf1, the gpu meanwhile only 40-50% used

what cpu do they have to get 100% usage in bf1? it cant be a somewhat recent cpu. my about 3 years old xeon e3 1230v3 get´s about 70% usage with 64 players.

I don't know whether this has been patched/improved but on launch I saw my 6600k at 4.3GHz capped at 100% very frequently in BF1.

Exactly, its not isolated to let's say my old i5 2500k, but to also the newest i7 CPUs, the whole game acts like a CPU benchmark

Well, I have a 1070 (a freaking 1070!), 16 gb of ram, an ssd, a modern i5, and it runs like crap when getting to the first main city. This is unacceptable. I feel ripped off frankly.
I second that and I am 100% with out. Same setup like you. Won't touch this game again unless they fix it.

In the last 24 hours I've twice had weird issues.

I'm playing with everyone on high to very high, PC is a month old 6600K/1070/16gig/M.2 system/game drive so it's solid but not amazing (well, it's amazing to me after having no desktop PC for nearly a decade, but that's a whole other post/thread), and after enabling the FPS counter in Steam, I've been at a rock solid 60 through the first three missions.

However, twice I've started the game, and no FPS overlay showed up, and the frame rate was absolute garbage, controls were seriously delayed, the whole thing.

I quit to steam, launched again, everything was fine.

It happened Monday night, and again last night, but last night a buddy of mine was over. He noticed that when it launched the first time, the NVidia experience "press whatever + whatever to broadcast" showed up instead of the steam version, and when I relaunched the steam version showed up instead.

No clue what that means for anyone else, just thought I'd pass along my anecdotal experience. But for what it's worth, when the game is messed up it is full on BROKEN. You'd be frustrated playing a turn based game with that control/frame rate issue, playing something that requires some reflexes is a complete non-starter.

It's the steam database showing the game has been patched again recently on the developer end, so it means we're getting closer to the consumer patch.

I'm going to be gone all day Thursday and some of Friday, so surely the patch is guaranteed at least tomorrow if the universe is going to spite me.

What other stealth games everyone playing in the meantime?

Man this game is fubr. Wanted to start it today and even at 1080p its unplayable, getting 20fps in the first area and the second I left the tower it dropped to 11fps. My rig might not have the newest CPU but its no slouch.

Core i5 @4.5Ghz
16GB Ram
GTX 1080
Installed on SSD.

Over the past week we've extensively covered Dishonored 2's technical issues, and on some PCs, regardless of graphics settings, many of us continue to experience the inconsistent framerates, audio stuttering, and mouse jittering we did at launch. These problems have been widely reported by players whose hardware is near the recommended spec. For this reason, we cannot recommend buying Dishonored 2 right now.

However, when Dishonored 2 is running smoothly, it is excellent. In the eyes of everyone on our team that's played it, it's one of the best games of the year. Knowing that a patch is imminent, and having now tested a beta version of that patch ourselves with encouraging results, we're uncomfortable with scoring Dishonored 2 as it currently exists in the knowledge that these technical issues are likely to be resolved shortly.

Don't want to get my hopes up.

And yet with a 1070 and the same processor I'm getting 40-60 fps at 3440x1440 on high settings with TXAA on and vsync.

Jesus fucking christ, a fucking 1080? What the hell is wrong with this game.

Are you sure you don't have the Nvidia memory driver bug? Because that is not normal, even with the game being shit technically. There is most certainly something going wrong on your end.

Nope I am on the recommended drivers from the dev, I didn't update due to the bug.

It's weird, I think its a memory leak because a reboot of the games sets me at 60fps which slowly goes down to 20fps in the matter of 10mins or so.

My PC did that a while ago, 20 fps at 1440p on a GTX1080. The game ran normal again after I rebooted my PC.

I'm impatient too, but I'd rather they took their time than release a half-baked patch that will require another patch.

We're getting a patch parade either way. The port is too much of a mess to fix in a week.

I just want the most simple issues fixed quickly. It's not like we have to worry about certification on PC.

Can a i7 4790k, GF970 and 16g ram run the game at ultra in 1080p capped @30fps for the very least? I bought the LE but if I can even play the game at a rock solid 30 this game is going back to the store.

I'm sure this will work fine in the future. Right now, though, capping your framerate to 30 FPS dramatically increases load times for some reason.

Wait for the patch, capping at 30 FPS currently inflates load times to unbearable lengths. If the patch doesn't fix that bug I'd return it.

Yes it can, but not right now because capping the game to 30fps breaks it and causes loading times to exceed 5+ minutes.

edit: echo... echo... echo... lol

i honestly haven't played a game that i've been legit looking forward to have such a shitty start (got into arkham knight when it was all good)

kinda get the feeling why people are so butthurt over preordering, but oh well. This was the future I chose. Just out of curiosity, what other games this past year had such a shitty launch? At least I was able to finish dues ex on my old 970 getting 50fps(in hubs), and it still felt better tha 80fps in this game

Thanks, is the game openGL? If I force triple buffer in the nv control panel it should help with the fluctuating frame rate.

Luckily wasn't interested in mafia 3 at all when I heard a totally different studio was making it.

Anyway, I'm kinda pessimistic about the first patch. I doubt It'll satisfy everyone, but if it makes a few more people happy that's okay I guess. But with my luck it'll still probably run like shit for me :))

It's not just a fluctuating framerate, the game is kind of fucked. Like, you can have a perfectly steady 60 FPS but the game just doesn't feel that way. I dunno if it's crazy frametimes or screwy input recognition but it feels terrible all the time.
