Dishonored 2 PC performance thread

Anybody who plays this game and just sees no problem with the framerate/controls/input lag, I cant trust them anymore.

Like when Uncharted 3 deadzone/aim acceleration was fucked for three works after launch and some people said, :Hey, seems fine git gud lol"

It's not just a fluctuating framerate, the game is kind of fucked. Like, you can have a perfectly steady 60 FPS but the game just doesn't feel that way. I dunno if it's crazy frametimes or screwy input recognition but it feels terrible all the time.

PS4 has a similar problem. I think the engine just has incredibly bad input lag.

Wolfenstien is still the only id tech 5 game to not feel like ass.

While waiting for the patch, I went and finished the DLC again for the first game. Such an amazing journey. Daud is a much better character than Corvo. I think the DLC for that game is better than the base game. Especially the Brigmore Manor level.

Corvo pretty much had zero personality the first game, so of course Daud is better. When this game is fixed and they eventually announce more Daud, I'm gonna be so fucking hype.

Unless they get rid of Michael Madsen

Damn, I was hoping for a patch last night so I can finally enjoy the game ( but only if they do something about the performance, we're talking about bethesda here... )

Man, I started the Duke mission with the framerate cratering to 20-ish FPS from 60+ on the previous missions. Was going to wait on the patch but realized that the latest Nvidia driver release has a bug with certain Pascal cards being forcibly down-clocked to 810mhz.

Actually this is not the first time an id tech variant end up being DirectX. The first one? Half Life's GoldSrc. Recently Tango adopted id Tech 5 into DirectX for The Evil Within as well.

Hmm The Evil Within ran pretty shit for a lot of people as well.
Maybe idtech5 doesn't work well with DX?
I have no idea how any of this works at all

Technically, there were D3D renderers for GLQuake which was the basis of GoldSource. But each time something like that happened an OpenGL version ran better so I don't know why people still think that porting id Tech to D3D is a good idea.

Previously posted on this page (last if you use 50ppp)

Don't want to get my hopes up.

I hit Karnaca last night and my performance tanked. I was previously hovering around 60-80fps with dips. Was staying around 40-50 with dips :(

I hope this patch comes sooner or later so I can enjoy the game.

Nearly every triple A title makes this move.

It's not their fault, it's out fault, the customers, we take the bait every time.

More like id Tech 5 doesn't work well with anything lol.

Can't say that I had any issues with Tech5 worth remembering in either Rage or Wolfenstein. I think it's mostly an issue of AMD's OpenGL driver being shit than Tech5 being bad which got the engine this reputation. That - and the texture quality and streaming.

I remember thinking I was crazy when UC3 came out and the aiming felt like crap. I was like do I suck or is something wrong with this thing. I managed to finish the game with it broken but holy hell it pissed me off. I remember the ship level when you had to deal with all the snipers and the guys chasing you. Was maddening.

I hated ID Tech 5 with Wolfenstein. It was a mess and I believe you had to run console commands to add AA or some other improvements. Wolfenstein itself made up for the engine flaws. Game was awesome. I bought Dishonored 2 despite being broken because I liked the first. Just waiting to even launch it until patch is out.

With the CPU process fixes and others mentioned here the micro stutter is gone, but I'm tempted to cap at 30fps like I did for Forza 3 and just get on with the game. It's less jarring than the sudden drops from 60-40fps. The load times (certainly at the start of the game) don't seem affected for me.

If it's worth them hesitating to give a score over, then it sounds like it does a pretty good job of fixing things up. Good news.

It's so nice to pay for a game and wait to get patched

Dude just refund it already. You've just been making these sporadic complaints and gif posts all week. It's not the end of the world here.

That's not an issue, it's a signature mode of operation for Carmack's engines and partially the reason people used to love them.

What's your problem ?

I had plenty of problems with TNO at launch due to running a 2GB card at the time (but hey it was still mainstream back then!), although it was fairly easy to get rid of. And TEW is just a technical nightmare.

Yeah, but most issue TEW had are down to the bizarre decision to port the renderer to DX and do it via some OGL-to-DX wrapper or such shit. DH2 seems to run on DX11 natively at least so their Void renderer is completely new probably but still - I wonder if the game would be running better if they'd just used a customized OpenGL renderer from Wolfenstein instead of making their own for DX.

Game is currently bugged so that locking to 30 fps increases your loadtimes to several minutes.

One weird thing I noticed are the loading times right after opening the executable, sometimes it opens instantly right to the intro videos, other times a loading bar appears and it takes way too much. Why is that happening?

I have a GSync monitor and I disabled ingame VSync, forcing everything from NVCP, if that matters.

On the side: GSync doesn't seem to be functional in this game at the moment.
I also have a GSync Monitor and using this guide (https://www.reddit.com/r/dishonored/comments/5cgaw3/dishonored_2_is_playable_for_me_right_now_here_is/) I was able to get a smoother performance.

proof? i don't believe you.

This is actually as fast as I've seen the game load; with the frame limit set or not. Load speed is definitely erratic. Sometimes it's a lot slower than in this video. Either way, the point is that it isn't noticeably slower at 30fps.

I've actually turned off the cap now, as it's too unresponsive at 30fps.

I just can't get the game to feel very smooth whatever I do.

Man the start of this game is such a giant cocktease. 130-140fps then you tank to 45 with shit mouse controls

it's like getting the hottest transgender prostitute you could find and when you finally get the clothes off you find out it's a girl. What a disappointment!

The start of the game, I'm pretty sure the load times are somehow related to the config file. If I delete it before starting the game, it loads quickly every time.

If I don't it takes many minutes.

Good to know, but I never deleted the cfg file till now. Thing is really random on my PC, doesn't take minutes, maybe one.

Guide has been updated, apparently GSync works. I also tried some of those suggestions but makes almost no difference, those slowdowns can only be fixed by devs.
