Dishonored 2 PC performance thread

Wow at how hard the computer has to work at 480p...what a garbage port.

Holy shit, what they fuck at the performance?!

I have an i7, but the stutter when panning around is still present. Also the dips in FPS for no reason are baffling. Even with the GTX1080.

The mouse issue seems to be "somewhat" fixed on my side, but the game is still dropping to 20s and even when its a solid 60-70fps, when you pan the camera it feels like it's constantly skipping frames although the framerate is above 60

Yea. its the frame skipping that just makes it very weird. I don't get it.

Also my card is sitting at 50% not even breaking a sweat and this kind of performance happens. The random dips are what make it unplayable.

Yeah...

I found an area where I had like 28fps and I decided to do a test, Ive set the game to ultra and then to very low presets, the difference was only 3fps

Mine isn't even dipping- I show a locked 60 fps while a I get massive stuttering when I pan the camera.

Yea, i don't think the presets make much of a difference, which is crazy. Not really sure how it works.

Also the shoddy implementation of some of the tech like HBAO+ and the weird looking TXAA1 don't look as good as i would've thought.

I don't get the dips in most areas. But then for some random reason there goes a dip. Mostly its locked at 60 tho. But that frameskipping always make me double take thinking i am hitting a dip on fps. Really annoying.

Indeed, txaa blurs everything in an overkill manner and theres no difference between fxaa high and medium, absolutely ridiculous

And since this is a beta patch we shouldn't expect a new patch right ? Because they first have to make this one official, which is probably gonna take another week

lmao

So fullscreen doesn't work still, does anyone think it might improve some of these issues if it did?

Also what programs are you using for frame rate monitoring/limiting?

I've been using RTSS and Nvidia inspector but wondered if either of these could cause framerate issues? Plus steam overlay also isn't working for me...

As long as they eventually fix it i guess i am ok with it for now. Plenty of other games out there, and i really want to play this game at some point with no issues. From what i play, without the tech issues it seems to be a really fun and engaging game. Shame if it doesn't get fixed on PC.

Its crazy the amount of games coming out to close the year.

I really hope they do a better job adding a better TXAA... anything on the distance look like it has no AA. haha.

I just use MSI Afterburner with Rivatuner.

beta patch made a huuuge difference for me, because all the weird micro stuttering is now gone, which improves hugely how the game looks and feels.
It was probably that weird "cpu priority issue"

Sure, it may not have improved the actual "performances" I get (which is probably why people who had unsatisfying framerates say the patch does nothing), but the difference is when my FPS counter says "60" or "45", that's actually what I get, and that makes a world of difference.

Also, prior to the new drivers and betapatch, I did the few nvidia fixes that are in the reddit post (pre rendered frames to 1 and whatnot) that is in the OP of this thread, and maybe that helped a tad, but really with the betapatch it's ostentatiously night and day.

So I guess if you had the permanent micro stutter issue you can rejoice, but if you didn't have that and "only" had bad framerate, you may not see improvements yet.

I kind of have to agree. Between the patch and the external vsync fix, it is playable. Game rocks 60 fps overall but dips to low 50's for a second when I turn the camera around and there are still some issues that needs to be ironed out. But now ı can finally play and enjoy it. Yesterday I played 6 straight hours and it was fantastic. Game oozes atmosphere and I am loving every single detail that they put in.

So is it advisable to turn off in game v-sync and use something like forced v-sync in Nvidia control panel/graphics driver control panel etc?

The micro stutter is still there for me after the beta patch. Zero change:

When they say they only fixed the mouse in their patch notes, I believe them.

That's advisable for any game; in-game v-sync can always be hit or miss.

Use something like RivaTuner for a FPS limit. It fixes the frametime issues that Vsync seems to be having, although still not perfect. Game needs fixes

But you still need vsync unless you like screen tearing. And only cap the game 60+ unless you want looooong load times.

Fullscreen works, it's just the switching back and forth that's bugged. Once you set it to Borderless you have to go into your config file and set full screen there to get it back.

The patch made a lot of improvements for me, but seems like 60fps in this game doesn't feel smooth at all, and i don't know why...

How performance with a 1070 at the moment?

I've my copy sitting un-opened and I'm tempted to return it for Battlefield 1 and hold off.

Currently running a 1070 and a 3770k with 16gb ram

Do you think this can be erased? Because is horrible...

At least the mouse runs ok now.

This is something they need to patch to fix, and one of the biggest issues people are still waiting to play the game. For some its not a deal breaker, for some it creates motion sickness. Its pretty bad if you ask me.

I wonder if i can still get a refund? From the look of things, this shit isn't gonna get fixed for months. I've "played' for 7 hours, but like 6 of that was fucking around with settings and seeing what would make it tolerable.

I'd be so fucking butthurt if it went on sale for 33% or something during xmas when its finally fixed.

Well they said the performance patch would likely hit in the next week so it might be a little too early too throw in the towel and expect months.

You guys fucked up.

I refunded well before the 2 hour mark.

To GwyndolinCinder, did you explain your reason for refunding?

I've been able to successfully get a refund if it was because I couldn't get into a game even if I went slightly above 2 hours. In your case, it would seem like your reason would still be valid.

For future reference:

Not to encourage abuse, but to those concerned about running over two hours of playtime due to tinkering, be aware that time played while in Offline Mode is not a factored into the equation. Valve actually added the necessary code to have Steam perpetually record Offline Mode playtime shortly after introducing the refund policy but has thus far neglected to "activate" it.

I posted that in this very thread, even. ;)

Edit: GwyndolinCinder, surely you must have seen it as you posted at exactly the same time, haha. Salt in the wound!

What's the external vsync fix?

Ah it's just disabling it in game and enabling it via Nvidia Inspector. Helps with the input lag.

With all its faults, does the PC version performs better than the Ps4 one? I still have the pc disk shrink wrapped sitting on my desk and was wondering if it would be better to sell it back to upgrade to the console version.

ive seen some people saying the ps4 version runs between 15 and 25 fps a lot of the time

Anyone able to recommend a reshade that adds AA but doesn't mess with the colours or anything?

I wouldn't recommend using Reshade for AA in this. Reshade's SMAA isn't great for this due to some weird dual depthbuffer stuff the game does, so the superior depth-based SMAA doesn't work (and the other SMAA modes aren't great for this).

As it stands, Reshade's SMAA looks the same or worse than the game's built-in FXAA, which is drastically worse than the game's built-in TXAA. In my opinion, you're better off using the games' built-in TXAA, and using Reshade to sharpen the resulting image back up (i.e. getting rid of TXAA's blur). The end result is an extremely crisp image with little-to-no aliasing, depending on what you're looking at.

The game is running at 70-80fps for me, and it feels like ~30-40. It's so so bad :(

Can I get a brief idea how to do this?

DL reshade, point toward DH2 EXE, select what you want (Lumasharpen). When you load game, Shift +F2 brings up the Reshade configuration tool, it'll have a tutorial. Select Lumasharpen when you are able, tweak it how you want. Someone posted example settings a few pages back.

Thanks! I might be approaching playable.

The mouse fix made this bearable to play. I have a last gen Titan X so it's not too bad. The first game performs a billion times better though, something is still definitely up with the framerate (it feels a lot worse than what's reported).

Eh. I have a week off and I want to play this right now.

Yeah, I'm getting 45-60 FPS in Karnaca on my 970 now. But it doesn't look or feel like it, looks more like 40 FPS. Mouse movement still isn't quite right, and the graphics are so incredibly blurry and jaggy even on high. It just doesn't feel right to play it this way. Very jittery framerate, all I can hope is that the performance patch fixes that too.

This is supposed to be "High," and with TXAA enabled? It looks worse than the first game. Is it adapting my resolution to something really awful? Because I can't get it to disable adaptive resolution either.

On a 1070 and I'm now (finally) playing the actual game. Jesus, it's so good.

I'm just using the Auto settings because I'm tired of fucking around. It's a mix of High and Very High. I'm at 2560 x 1600, and it's running at 60 FPS about 2/3rds of the time, never really gets below 45 FPS. With the mouse fix and FastSync enabled, it's completely tolerable.

But I do look forward to more performance boosts, as well as various other small fixes for things like odd audio behavior and object pop-in.

Does nvidia include the hot fix in their next major driver update?

Someone said to install the hot fix first before the patch - so you can't do it the other way around?
