Did TomorrowLand bomb that hard?

Yeah, I'm pretty pissed about this one. I really enjoyed Legacy and was really looking forward to what they came up with next.

I was keeping a glimmer of hope that maybe Tron: Uprising would be released on BluRay after this was teased, or on the week of its release. Oh well.

NO NO NO NO NO NO

I love TRON so much and I was so excited when they finally confirmed that a 3rd movie was finally happening a few months back, and then when i got home and saw this news i want to lie down and cry now. Legacy is one of me and my friends favorite movies, such an incredible experience, highly underrated honestly. Hope it still happens. Microsoft pick this movie up and fund it please

i can't believe we're being intentionally deprived of another soundtrack like this why

Blame Tomorrowland. Between that, John Carter, and Mars Needs Moms - Disney has to see non-Marvel/Star Wars sci-fi as a dead genre as far as profit goes. The "Disney" audience just doesn't want it.

I'd love to see TRON 3. But I totally get why Disney would step away from it.

They'll probably just wait another 20 years like between the first two. This time the boy will be in his 40's and his kid will go on a similar journey, meanwhile grampa "The Dude" makes a cameo

Nah i haven't a clu

I know this movie is not for everyone. I actually really liked the story but I understand how others may find it uninteresting.

But it's not the story that makes this movie special. To me Tron Legacy is an audiovisual masterpiece. It's shot beautifully and the production design is awe-inspiring. For my taste it hits every pleasure nerve in my visual cortex. The vehicles, the wardrobe, the interiors, the city and the wasteland, even the real world scenes are constructed with such style and taste. And all of that is goes twice for the soundtrack. Those images and sounds together create a mood that I can't easily describe because it's a really subjective experience. I can only say that it really works for me.

So Disney, this is what I say to you:

Just bring back Tron: Uprising and give it one more season to allow season one get some resolution (damn cliffhanger!!!). I'd much rather get that than Tron 3, but it seems more Tron animated or live action isn't too likely :-\

We'll never get a Tron Uprising Season 2 because the production costs were, apparently, extremely high for the first season. :(

Not surprised in the least. Disney's been dragging its heels on this for years. Tomorrowland's box office just sealed the deal for non-AAA name recogniton live action sci-fi at the studio.

C'mon, Disney, you are swimming in millions of dollars and soon you will drown from the money of Star Wars, let us have this treat.

For the best, judging by Tron Legacy. They utterly failed to capitalize on and evolve the Tron concept in one sequel, I don't see why they'd suddenly figure it out in another one. A great soundtrack can't save a terrible script.

Just go play Tron 2.0 on PC, which is a vastly better sequel to Tron than Legacy was ever going to be.

I know it's okay. But you're calling a sequel "unique," and a film even it's defenders recognize as being boring as "interesting."

It's one thing to like a film even though it's got detractors. I understand that completely. But it's another to represent the film as being a thing it can't be. It's not a unique film because it's 60% the previous film, with a VFX upgrade and a better score. It's not an interesting film because the ideas it's playing with aren't new or original, and aren't even done well on top of that.

Tron isn't "risky" by any means. Hard to get safer than updating a 30 year old film with a ton of name recognition and amazing visuals built-into its premise. It's why its disappointment both financially and as a film is as frustrating as it is.

You know it's ok to admit you didn't "get" the movie.

Man this is how I felt when Fear Effect 3 got cancelled because of Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness.

It looks like whoever at the Mouse House thought this was a good idea finally sobered up.

Seriously, I have no idea how anyone at Disney thought funnelling more money to make a sequel to a film that was a failure on almost every level (merch, at the box office, the cartoon etc) could warrant a sequel?

I can only assume that the studio had some options on the cast/director that were expiring and they had to decide whether they wanted to 'activate' them or let them lapse.

Don't worry guys I'm sure we'll get another Tron in 25 years :(

There is zero doubt in my mind that Disney will reboot Tron at some point in the future.

Urghh because a film that is not a marvel or Disney animated turned live action died at cinemas means Disney probably dead for anything else but Star Wars marvel or remaking animated to live.

Okay with this. I liked elements of Tron 2 (and it's always a joy to see Bridges on screen) but overall it just wasn't that good, squandered some terrific ideas and lost what made Tron unique for me; the sense of literally being in another world.
