Disney threatens to sue mockbuster studio

I'm sad to see so many Disney defenders here. Sure these productions are mind-numbingly awful, but do you really want to give such an overly IP law aggressive company even more leeway in how they're able to restrict other peoples' work?

I'd be more upset if their imitations weren't made purposely to deceive. Given their intent I have difficulty being upset at this.

I watched this. Wasn't actually that bad, I expected worse for a knock off movie. (it's a knockoff of I Am Legend btw)

It even stars the guy from iron chef:

Totally, Disney rode in the awesome coattails of Kimba the White Lion.

Hahahah no.

Jungle Emperor Leo was totally stupid and crap.

You know what the show would be without executive meddling? Jungle Emperor Leo 2.

I've seen parts of Almighty Thor, mostly climactic scenes. It's been on TV here in UK more than once. I went in thinking "Any film about Thor can't be bad", and came out wanting to cry.

But seriously, why do people think Kimba is good? It's pretty crap especially with the much better sequel.

Since you have watched it, could you enlighten us as to the similarities with The Lion King? Not just those similarities in some screenshots which are pretty well documented but the characters, themes etc. Thanks.

(movie actually stars Inferno from the real Transformers)

Seems some Euro movie stole the title too:

Edit: Okay ... apparently the film is called Iron Invader, Metal Shifters, and Space Transformers in various markets.

Not too concerned about these superficial similarities. They don't even look that similar and I struggle to think of why Disney would even want to rip off Nadia.

Nadia
Our hero, Jean, a nerdy yet sweet inventor who gets caught up in a quest to find Atlantis. Along the way he falls in love with a girl unlike anyone he's ever met before. Accessories: big round glasses, red bow tie, assorted charts and scientific equipment.

Atlantis
Our hero, Milo, a nerdy yet sweet scholar who gets caught up in a quest to find Atlantis. Along the way he falls in love with a girl unlike anyone he's ever met before. Accessories: big round glasses, red bow tie, assorted charts and scientific equipment.

Nadia
The heroine, Nadia, an exotic young woman who turns out to be a princess of the lost empire of Atlantis. To save her empire from invaders, she must unleash her hidden power. Accessories: blue crystal pendant, skimpy bikini 'n' sarong costume, gold armband and hoop earings.

Surely its a knock off of The Omega Man (which I am Legend is also based on - well the same book anyway)

When I was 23, I landed a sweet gig (and not through investing my or my family's money) producing a mockbuster movie. This company epic had seen some of my creative producing work and hired me to put together a movie with extremely limited resources.

Not proud of the artistic integrity at all of course, but I learned everything I needed to learn about producing.

The few screen shots and some characterisations are pretty much the only things that are similar. I also think they were taken from the tv show and not from the movies.

The lead even gets told "With great power, comes great responsibility".

Cooler finale fight then any Spidey film I seen so far. Hasn't seen Amazing.

This is ridiculous! Okay, maybe Brightspark did steal the idea from Disney, but so what? Animation is built on plagiarism! If it weren't for someone plagiarizing the Honeymooners we wouldn't have the Flintstones. If someone hadn't ripped off Sergeant Bilko, there'd be no Top Cat. Huckleberry Hound, Chief Wiggum, Yogi Bear? Hah! Andy Griffith, Edward G. Robinson, Art Carney. If you take away a studio's right to steal ideas, where are they gonna come from?

No offence, but that's not really at mockbuster, the Spidey refrences are just jokes. The team that made it does that in their movies.
There's even graffiti in this that says something like "Hi Spidey, how are you?", just like in their other movie Ong Bak where there was Graffiti saying "Hi Spielberg, let's do it together".

Of course, Atlantis is fair play. I'm only targeting TLK/Kimba.

There are NO similarities aside from the "Disney wanted to do Kimba but couldn't".

I'm on the TLK is superior to Kimba and is not a ripoff dude.

Some kid went to a community arts college thinking he'd one day be working on the next Pixar blockbuster...and instead wound up working on this. Nah I'm just kidding, I'm sure all this garbage is outsourced to China.

This one in particular was made in India, iirc.

Not a Disney movie (I don't think) but

even down to the "about to crash blackout scene" and the AI controlled fighter jet.
