Dissidia 012: Unofficial new DLC brings new characters as costume swaps

Didn't find anything using search, but lock if old.

Just read on PSPGen that some fans released free unofficial DLC for Dissidia 012.
These DLCs bring the following skins (left side) for the following characters (right side):
- Zack (CC:FFVII) / Cloud
- Serge (Chrono Cross) / Bartz
- Caius (FFXIII-2) / Jecht
- Rikku (FFX-2) / Prishe
- Aerith (FFVII) / Terra
- Valkyrie Lightning (FFXIII-2) / Lightning

Honestly I'm kind of confounded as to why this game didn't have official character DLC, but great effort on the fans' part.
 
Yeah these aren't new characters, they're just costume skins. It's not that different from what S-E already did for the DLC. Many of the costumes were really high quality and not just texture changes.
 
Yes, it's just some skins, sorry.
The source mentioned new characters, not skins, so I was confused.
I will fix the OP. Can a mod fix the title please ?

Dissidia should evolve and become the Kingdom Hearts of Final Fantasy packed within it also a multiplayer mode. I could see it in my dream becoming a full aRPG experience on PS3 and 360 where original characters visit Final Fantasy's worlds and stories. It'll be so cool!

I'd settle for a Dissidia world in KH. Sora lands, helps WoL fight Garland, protect Cosmos, and final battle is a dual showdown with Chernabog and Chaos.

Do these alternate costumes interfere with the DLC I already bought?

Duodecim is the game of the generation. Square is so dumb for not supporting it with DLC characters, even fans are more efficient. Also this:

Is this so much to ask? Just use the same engine and add some more characters Square. I will pay. Or do a similar game on the PS3. idk, just keep on doing them. :|
 
"Unofficial DLC"? This is basically a texture hack or mod, no? I've never heard of the term "DLC" being used outside of an official product
 
They need to add Ultros (Final Fantasy VI) and Quina Quen (IX) to the next Dissidia, so dumb 6 and 9 didn't get anyone new in 012.

Well, if it actually is a bonus costume and not an overwrite of another costume, I could dig it.
Got them working. This is actually really nice. The Caius and Aerith ones are my favorites, I think, but Serge is cool. The Rikku one seems off, though.

I dunno if I'd say that was ALL they did, since the Serge one is pretty nice looking compared to his old PSX model.

It does bug me that they didn't announce any further FF characters. Just two KH, one TWEWY (and the worst character design in that game, no less), and Bayonetta.

Still, beggars can't be choosers, and the ones they've released so far, barring Rikku, are pretty good.
 
They get inserted in additional DLC slots built into the game (DLC1, DLC2, etc.)

When PSN got hacked I guess SE quit.

Basically they place a model from a external source, convert it to GMO format and plop it in the data directory where a character model would be(either new insertion or replace a pre-existing one).

You need CFW of course, but it's really neat.

There is no TWEWY character planned, AFAIK.
Are you mistaking Beate (FFIX, female) for Beat (TWEWY, male) ?

Yeah, I think this is exactly what happened. They had months of DLC planned, but when PSN went down, and there was no sign of it coming back anytime soon, that killed the entire momentum of the regular DLC release, and they just stopped making them at that point. :/

Dissidia 012 way under performed compared to 1 didn't it? I could've sworn that the JPN sales hovered around half if even that for the sequel. Then again the sequel was nothing more then a glorified expansion pack with very little new story/cutscene content outside of the new characters.

I was excited when it was first announced and while it had some much needed improvments the fact that over half the game was just Dissiida 1 again really killed my enjoyment for the title overall.
 
Would love a console Dissidia. Imagine FF13 caliber character models flying around dem destructible backgrounds. GOTF. At least a vita version...

Also, Dissidia 012 has some legs.. it's been one of the top 5 downloaded PSP games for a few months now.

Yes, because I don't remember an FF9 character named Beate, unless that's what they call Beatrix in France.

If it did, it did only because they launched it like, a year after the first one. It's essentially Ultimate Dissidia vs. Capcom 3.

Yes, that's her name in the french version of FFIX.
Zidane is Djidane, Vivi is Bibi, Dagger is Dagga, etc.
I barely played FFIX, so I wasn't sure where Beate came from, but I'll edit the OP to clarify that.

Okay, that makes sense. Any idea who she'll be a skin for? I've been trying to guess here recently. Aqua is a Lightning skin (the voice will be so weird with her), Ansem will obviously be Sephiroth or Kuja, not even an idea as to who they'll put Bayonetta on, so I dunno who they'd make Beatrix. Like, Shantoto?

Serge is a Bartz skin, it's just Bartz gets to use one of Lagunas guns for one of his moves.

There's a vid of Beatrix on the site guys. It's a Lightning skin.

Ansem doesn't use a sword, so I think Kuja is a better fit.
Bayonetta ? Maybe Laguna, he's the only character with guns as main weapon.
