Because nobody really cares? This is the DJ Mag Top 100 :P If we went by rules like that, then Deadmau5 wouldn't be on the list too.

I care. DJs are supposed to, you know, play in clubs, etc. etc. There's a difference between being an electronic music artist and being a DJ.

List is a serious, serious joke. No Troy Pierce or Magda anywhere on the list is heinous. Top 10 is completely laughable. I generally don't like to be condescending or anything, but what most people consider to be good electronica or a good DJ is, for the most part, a total joke. This list shows nothing new, really, and just furthers the fact that people like their unchie-unchie-unchie-unchie and horrible trance/vocal trance/vocal house. Bah.

Well find something more meaningful to care about rather than a crappy list nobody really cares about :P If you mix tracks together in a club, you are a DJ as far as this list is concerned, so that is why he is on there.

Minimal is just as cliched and commercialized as trance/vocal house/etc nowadays.

*nods*

Don't forget it also is partly responsible for the "backlash" that gave away to all the rock-dance-fidget house-hipster-electronica movement. A good chunk of old minimal techno heads went down that route...and the rest went back to prog house. :lol

Blame Minimal!

my favourite djs were so far down.. :(

benny benassi
boys noize
justice
daft punk
MSTRKRFT (i think these guys deserve the most credit, their sound has evolved so much since their album, they are amazing at doing remixes)

The only one missing in you list in david guetta and we could have had sweet love together.
But seriously i am dutch and tiesto and armin suck.

I dunno what constitutes as a DJ but I pretty much entirely agree with btkadams & say that A-trak and Diplo should be somewhere on there too. I saw Diplo the other night, dude was world class awesome.

They are so many styles of dj, with so many styles of music which greatly affect the taste of listeners (EXEMPLE: a hiphop dj with crazy mixing tricks could be ignored by the majority of dance-fans, etc), and having a top100 is pointless.

edit: i mean.. is this list about the technical skills? and then again personal taste on the kind of music they spin can have them discarded.

It's a popularity contest, fans go to the website and vote their top 5.

ctrl + f "2 many djs" :(

Sick mash-ups, so sick, but I walked off during a live set, just shite. They dropped a full Britney track, no remix, followed by some full disco track, no remix, no beatmix, no cool-cuts, they just laid down a few really shit tunes that they probably thought were ironic enough to drop but were just lame instead.

Soulwax 1-5 are awesome studio mash-up party albums but having seen them live they don't deserve a high rating on the best DJ list.

Jesus North America, I know you like our crappy Disney-trance DJs but that list is taking it a bit too far. I'd trade all of our DJs for MSTRKRFT, Ratatat and Tiga any day of the week.

Magda is on there-

and while this list is always controversial, people still can't deny its gauge for whom will pack a club/arena.
