Synopsis

Set in the South two years before the Civil War, DJANGO UNCHAINED stars Academy Award®-winner Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Academy Award®-winner Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles – dead or alive.

Success leads Schultz to free Django, though the two men choose not to go their separate ways. Instead, Schultz seeks out the South’s most wanted criminals with Django by his side. Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago.

Django and Schultz’s search ultimately leads them to Calvin Candie (Academy Award®-nominee Leonardo DiCaprio), the proprietor of “Candyland,” an infamous plantation where slaves are groomed by trainer Ace Woody (Kurt Russell) to battle each other for sport. Exploring the compound under false pretenses, Django and Schultz arouse the suspicion of Stephen (Academy Award®-nominee Samuel L. Jackson), Candie’s trusted house slave. Their moves are marked, and a treacherous organization closes in on them. If Django and Schultz are to escape with Broomhilda, they must choose between independence and solidarity, between sacrifice and survival…

Written and directed by Academy Award®-winner Quentin Tarantino, DJANGO UNCHAINED is produced by Stacey Sher, Reginald Hudlin and Pilar Savone. The executive producers are Harvey and Bob Weinstein, Michael Shamberg, Shannon McIntosh, and James Skotchdopole. DJANGO UNCHAINED will be released in the U.S. on December 25, 2012, and internationally by Sony Pictures.

Django Unchained hits theaters December 25th, 2012.

One of my favorite directors, one of my favorite genres, one of the genres he's been tip toeing around for years.

This can only be amazing.

yeah, even though his movies have kind of dropped a TINY bit in quality for me recently, they are still more than worth watching in any case...

on board the hype train!!!

It sucks that they went with Foxx over Elba but it's QT so it's going to be incredible regardless.

I have loved all of QT's films (yes, even Kill Bill Vol.2!), so count me in for this!

Would have liked Elba instead of Foxx though. I thought Michael K.Williams was going to be in this too?

Jamie fox.... I dont like him.

I really hope this film is awesome, but I do feel that jamie will fuck it up if he is cast in a big part.

Everything sounds good to me. Waltz back with Tarantino can only mean greatness.

He's the lead. And don't hate, he was good in Collateral.

If their is one film that I can only see this year, its this. Can't wait to see the trailer! At least we have the first pic of the movie finally!

Is it a sequel or prequel to that other Django movie with QT in it?
Sukiyaki Western Django? Nope nothing to do with that movie. Django is actually an old Spaghetti Western movie staring Franco Nero. The character proved to be so popular that it spawned many other films with Django as the title character but have no relation to each other. The titles for both Miike's film and Tarantino's film are homage to the that period in time when you can sell any Spaghetti Western as long as you had Django in the title.

If your interested the original Django is actually a pretty good movie. It follows the typical Spaghetti Western tropes but it's an entertaining genre film.

Auch, well I have to trust the power of Tarantino to make jamie into something I have never seen from him before. It does not go down smooth when Jamie is infront of the camera.

A western with Jamie in the lead.... its not gritty and badass enough. I just dont feel it.

Idris would have been a better pick.

What the fuck is with the Jamie Foxx hate? I'm suprised at all the Idris Elba love.

How could you even tell which actor would be better for the lead?

I hate Jamie Foxx for the most part, but QT always makes great casting choices, so I know he'll be great in this.

Forgot this was coming out this year. I feel bad for leaving it off my anticipated movies for 2012 list as it'll surely be up there. This year is looking AMAZING. This, Prometheus, DKR, The Hobbit, Amazing Spiderman, Avengers!

I dunno. I never fully bought Uma in Kill Bill, but I know they're best friends and she helped come up with the idea. Everyone else was fantastic, though.
