I don't think I'll enjoy this movie as much as other QT movies. Whenever my parents taught me about slavery it was always like some terrible horror movie, hard for me to take it lightly.

I don't get this. I mean, you post on a videogame forum, which is a medium that precisely takes lightly EVERY historic fact. I mean, you don't play any war game? CoD? Battlefield?

Slavery hits a particular nerve for me though. The same way war games like COD or huge amounts of gore in games like God of War hit a nerve for others.

I don't know if even QT himself is asking anyone to take slavery lightly. Quite the opposite actually. Every interview I've seen with Tarantino and the main cast has touched on how tough it was to perform some of those scenes because of their brutality and accuracy in depicting how awful it was to be a slave.

Semantics aside, I think I get what you probably meant. Certain subjects are simply tougher to stomach for some people.

Saw this movie today. Saw strong performances from just about everyone, and the filmography/soundtrack definitely harked back 70s/80s exploitation films. Overall a very fun film to watch, though you'll want to see it with an empty bladder.

its a good movie. Like a an uglier, more intense version of the second Kill Bill. Candieland is some foul shit but its strikes a good balance between brutal violence and insanity and humour.
Really isnt a film I wanna see again for a while though, the film is dark as fuck. thats what really separates this one from Kill Bill and Basterds, the heavy scenes are ROUGH viewing. as they should be, slavery wasnt a fucking joke, it was evil and it was disgusting and there are a few key scenes where thats made abundantly clear
