DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction | Updated with 2nd gen transformer (August 2026 release)

The second-gen transformer model is the part worth paying attention to here. They trained it on a larger dataset with more compute, and on RTX 40/50 cards it uses FP8 precision to basically double inference throughput with minimal performance cost. The practical upside is that Performance Mode now rivals native image quality, which historically has never been the case — Ultra Performance especially has always been kind of a joke visually, and apparently that's changed.

What gives it some credibility beyond Nvidia's own claims is that ComputerBase ran a blind test with thousands of participants and DLSS 4.5 SR beat native resolution in all 6 games they tested. That's a third party result, not a GeForce promo slide.

The 6X Multi Frame Generation is RTX 50 exclusive so most people won't care yet, but the Super Resolution upgrade works on any RTX card, which is the actually relevant part for most users.

I asked Claude to write up a more meaningful first reply to this thread to show that AI slop can be better than some low effort human created reply like "AI Slop".

Amazing! Huge upgrade in RT stability imo

at least they are silent about DLSS 5.0, working hard being the scenes to improve it!

We need to start taking away some people's civil rights.
We'll start with yours. Ha!

Anyway,

Happy to see upgrades to ray reconstruction. Aliasing has all but disappeared now. But, what about shimmering? It's still a big problem when it happens.

August? Seriously? Champagne problems I know and I'm just whining but Nvidia has gotten me (personally) used to available today in full or beta for trying out lol.

Nevermind, RT was off, hah.
Edit: So, I got excited, thinking this was here, now! No. But, I did notice when I updated the DLL (310.6) in DLSSwapper, the boiling was basically gone in SH2. This news caused a Happy Accident. :messenger_savoring:

I was excited to try this out and then I saw the release date. Oh well

Bro.. while I agree.. they're fucking us so bad.. it's like.. damn. We need to start looking out for ourselves. :lollipop_squinting:
We can't seem to take care of ourselves, just check out the graphics thread. We claim to hate Nvidia, the one company that pushes the medium forward, yet obsess over the texture and lighting of every single rock and washing machine.

We all hate on nVidia but where would we be without them 😫
In a better place, Microsoft used to be the driving engine of 3D technology with Direct-X with a level playing field but then whatever the heck happened to MS they just slowed down in the 2010s, look at the pace of Direct-X versions like 11/12 that have been around for a long time.

Nvidia took over and began aggressively pushing its own stuff resulting in a near monopoly of the PC GPU market.

MS fucked up. But we are where we are. Its choosing between two villians. We got the good guy turned genocidal. And the psychopath turn docile. They both suck. But literally they are the only others to innovate while AMD sits there twiddling their balls. And Intel just lives in a grave.

Looks like a massive improvement judging from those clips.

The short Cyberpunk clip at the start shows it's still the best looking game around imo. And now even better.

Also for Switch 2?

The switch 2 can barely use the normal DLSS3, often having to use the stripped down DLSS version.
Don't expect it to use DLSS4, and much less DLSS4.5 with even more FP8 instructions. And even less, doing upscaling and RR at the same time. I's just too underpowered for all that.

Does this fix the graphics glitches/bugs I have on FH6, where the shadows etc. are sometimes pixelated very strangely? (looks fuzzy/ like glitter).

It can be used with other DLSS presets right? 4.5 is not good for 1440p.
ray reconstruction has no relevancy to regular DLSS presets. it is its own thing and has its own presets and upscaling logic

if you don't like regular DLSS 4.5 for 1440p chances are you won't like this either

Why? If i can use the new one with DLSS4 then its all good.
