Ehhh...DMC1, sure.John said:I don't know about that. The dialogue was so bad that it couldn't have even been ironic. Yes, that exists.
Which is part of my love for the series.ShockingAlberto said:Ehhh...DMC1, sure.
Never played DMC2 so I can't comment.
3 and 4 were clearly tongue in cheek.
Unless you think someone unironically wrote Dante describing a weapon being used with sexual descriptors.
I think most left after the release of HS. There was a bunch of backlash after the demo was released especially, since it was a massive demo in terms of file size that was about 2 minutes long.Amir0x said:where is that guy from Ninja Theory who posts on GAF? I've seen him posting here before and commenting on NT titles. I want to hear from him where the inspiration came for this hideous Criss Angel/Adam Lambert hellspawn thing.
Did neoGAF scare all the Ninja Theory dudes away?
Only played the first game myself. I didn't detect any self-denigrating humor in it either.ShockingAlberto said:Ehhh...DMC1, sure.

What hath I wrought?Kittonwy said:I think Inafune and Capcom are just desperate to break into the western market, the problem is that they're hiring a studio that has been trying to adopt asian themes in their games while gameplay and combat design aren't exactly their strong points, and I'm not sure Ninja Theory really gets how to do successful western dudebro style games. What is successful is dudebro, HALO/Gears/Modern Warfare, and dudebro is simply NOT the skinny crack addict look.

Thank you.Dahbomb said:Is that trailer and the small blurb all we have on this new DMC? If so am I fair to comment on the game after watching the trailer?
Well just about every thing bad that I could've imagined for from this "rumor" ended up being true today. Everything that was iconic about DMC was left out in the dust and now we have just have some generic action game where the devs are trying too hard to make the main character look "cool and stylish".
Let's just ignore the fact that the main character who is supposed to be half human/demon doesn't have white hair, a trademark of the series, he is seen fighting with a scythe when his staple weapon combination is sword plus guns. The dress sense and the general tone of the trailer is also really lol-worthy. The trailer just indicated towards environmental combat (using the car to throw at enemies) and lots of grapple/interaction, all of which weren't staple to the DMC formula. The shooting also seemed flat.
There is nothing good about the trailer and I have no hope for the game play reveal either. I am NOT expecting 60FPS, another staple of the series. I am NOT expecting a good combat engine. About the only thing I expect or want at this point is for them to not fuck up Vergil either.
I don't know WTF this is... this is NOT DMC. I really wouldn't be surprised if this goes down as being worse than DMC2. I guess I am going to go into "pretend DmC never existed" or however the hell they spell that shit now.
I believe the rage towards the atrocious character re-design is because it's the representation of our fears that Ninja Theory is going to fuck the game up. You only get one chance for a good first impression and they already took a huge misstep. It's not that it's just a crappy design but a likelihood of one blunder after another in an impending large series of blunders that will doom the game, given their pedigree.Zeliard said:Yeah, if people allow Bayonetta's character design to get in the way of some of the greatest gameplay in the genre, they are truly missing out.
I think it's sort of funny that there's so much concentration on how idiotic this new character model is. It is, but who cares if the guy looks like the coolest motherfucker on the planet if the game plays terribly?
The real problem lies in Ninja Theory making this game in the first place. From there, many other problems arise, but that's where it starts.

I wanted to love Bayonetta by playing the demo, but the j-pop music that played during every battle started to melt my brain into mush. I can live with electro-pop rock/synth during battles, but j-pop is an abomination.Zeliard said:Yeah, if people allow Bayonetta's character design to get in the way of some of the greatest gameplay in the genre, they are truly missing out.

ninja theory's forum has also locked new user registration since they realize they fucked up badly - though i also doubt they'll take it back.Kenka said:http://i55.tinypic.com/24pf5v5.png

My excuse is that for the most part, I'm still just getting through most of the end of 09 releases. I beat Arkham Asylum a month ago and I just got Demon's Souls!Fimbulvetr said:There are DMC fans who haven't played Bayonetta?
Heathens.
I hated the demo, and it's my GotY so far (not played Reach yet).RustyNails said:I wanted to love Bayonetta by playing the demo, but the j-pop music that played during every battle started to melt my brain into mush. Gah, I just hope Ninja Theory realizes the character really sucks. Dante looks like a superhero. A demon fighting superhero.FunkyPajamas said:Hey, hey, it's our denial. We posted at the same time![]()

Crewnh said:Where are people getting this whole "DmC is being serious and not tongue and cheek"? Dante was treating that whole thing as a joke.
We can't talk about those things until they fix the problem at hand. If you start talking about positive things they're going to think everyone is okay with the design. >:|sn00zer said:So can we just change the thread title to "I hate the character model" as thats the only thing people have been talking about.....how about instead we talk about
-the fuck awesome new weapon
-good VA from Dante and narrator
-The overgrown city setting
-The interesting psychiatric patient storyline
-Hell no ones even made a Devil May Cry: Black comment yet
-the fact that the "gameplay" looks straight outta DMC
