Nobody cares, cause I'm alone and the world is
Having more fun than me

White hair then, same thing... kinda.

Also for people saying that the designer/director/whatever is an egomaniac prancing around the office quoting the opening scene of DMC3 whilst dressed in red leather. Calm your asses down.

Ninja Theory uses advanced motion and face capture technology. They were probably in the design stages and needed a face to use, maybe it's not the final model they're going to use or maybe they decided his look was what they wanted to use.

really...really...?
bullshit

If anything because facial animation is there specialty, that should have been the first thing they completed.

But I will agree this wont be the final version we see at retail.

...not if they are listening to the fan reaction.

Even worse, depending on where you're looking. :lol

Forget the fact that it's Ninja Theory, there's plenty of people who won't even TOUCH the game because it's made by a gaijin developer.

That's pretty telling, considering that a number of these same people are actually looking forward to CV:LOS, simply because it's a game that IGA's not working on. :lol

I'm pretty sure Mercury steam are a gaijin dev as well >_>

What else is it really competing with? All it's up against is Ninja Gaiden and Bayonetta.

Darksiders, God of War series, Bayonetta, Heavenly Sword, Ninja Gaiden, Prince of Persia series

DMC is pretty old hat by today's action game standards.

Yes, yes I do (wake up in the morning telling myself how fucking awesome a new DMC would be). Should I post my 460 hour playtime save from DMC3 to prove my point?

I hear they now have pills to treat many mental conditions, its a wonder what they can do with science these days.

DMC 1 Dante had the balance just right, in my opinion. He's lighthearted and has a sense of humour, but he isn't wacky. In DMC 3 and 4, the dialogue and delivery didn't always feel in-keeping with the character to me. "Flock off, featherface" will always epitomize the character in my mind.
It kinda made sense in DMC3 because he was clearly still an impetuous youth. He had to have mellowed out some over the years.

I dont understand what the "aww" implies.

But the answer is "no". Especially after your other "this shows the maturity of the hobby" nonsense.

Your AV is cool though, so you've got that going for you.

EDIT: how do you misinterpret a statement like "whatever" :lol

Are you telling me you're telling yourself something else every morning?

You're saying that Heavenly Sword, God of War, and Darksiders compare to DMC's combat at its best?

Not compare, but surpass. In terms of camera functionality, combat control, animation quality for attacks, attack responsiveness.

If you doubt it you should pick up DMC2 through 4, play it for like 5 mins then switch over to one of the other games listed.

DMC has just gotten stale like Tomb Raider over time and this new version doesnt look like its going to do much to change that.

None of those games could ever hope to compare to DMC3's combat.

That's the point. :lol

They're more open to the idea of trusting a game from Gaijin dev that Kojima has thrown his backing behind, if it means something else besides another game from IGA. If nothing else, their hatred of IGA outweighs their loathing of another outsourced game made by Gaijin. :lol

Oh I get it. So the trust hierarchy is internally developed>baka gaijin>Igarashi :lol

Are you serious? Get it out of this thread. None of those series come close to DMC. Bayo? Maybe. Ninja Gaiden? Up to the person.

God of War? You have to be shitting me. Mash happy gameplay with a terrible main character. I guess if you like Kratos you"'ll like goth Dante.

Heavenly Sword? Lol. Sloopiest action game this gen.

Darksiders? Poor mans GoW when it comes to actual combat.

PoP? No you're not serious.

DMC is so boring compared to other action titles these days. Why do they try to keep this franchise alive? Its like Lost Planet, does anyone really NEED more of it?

Like when you wake up in the morning do you say "Man I need me some more Devil May Cry cause the last 3 were so well done! Nero was such a great character and I love fighting fuckin muppets that spawn out from teh sky and have blades fer hands!!"

The new wrapper looks good, but the enemies and combat still look wonky and cheesey

Seeing how theres only...Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden, Devil May Cry, and Godhand (current time anyway), I say yes. Whats wrong with haunted demon puppets and reaper ghosts?

Sorry you guys are like Tomb Raider fans, all living in denial. DMC is the Hulk Hogan of videogame action series. It was great once back in the day but when you see him in action now it just doesn't hold up.

God of war, Darksiders, and Heavenly Sword style action really arent similar to the stuff Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, God Hand, and Bayonetta offer.

Two different action game styles/design philosophies.

Masterful if true.
I'd like him to watch some Brea/kael-videos if not true.

DMC1 was a classic, DMC2 was below average, DMC3 was above average, DMC4 was average. When did this become a sacred franchise again?

Exactly. DMC1 was amazing dont get me wrong, but everything after that has been a mess.

Not really. DMC 3 was really well done as far as combat and enemy art goes. DMC4 introduced Nero, and his playstyle turned out to be really fun. I cant comment on 2 since I only rented that back in the day.

Okay little children. I'm sorry to spoil your party because I'm sure you have another couple of great ideas about how to go on and on about how the director of the game is a terrible dipshit egomanic dick asshole who is obviously modeling Dante after himself because it would be so cool and it totally ruins your game series, but everyone who wants to come up with stupid reasons to insult Tameen and Ninja Theory over of all things Dante's goddamn face design, has obviously gone so far over the deep end that you need a break.

Have a nice day.

DMC1 was good. 3 was fantastic. 4 was great. I'll never understand the obscene hate for it. The gameplay in 4 was a great regardless of "omg rehash". The series has been pretty solid.

Dante looks.... not great but I'm not really worried about that. Heavenly Sword was not fun to play at all really, and that is what has me worried.

DMC 4 was solid.

50% of it was padded bs, but the gameplay was solid. Classic DMC. Most people are fearing that Ninja Theory will have a hard time reaching even that plateau looking at their previous efforts.

Wow, that's a long red sentence.

And finally some sense shaken into this thread with it.
I wonder how many clever people would say these stuff if they were sitting in a room with the developers, showing the game excitedly. But we all know the lesson of anonimity+internet all too well...

There's plenty of sense, it's just sandwhiched with a bunch of dumb shit. And of course people lumping all the haters into a category to make themselves feel cool, or something.

If only shinji mikami could be the director of this game, then nobody would react angry to this news.

Mikami never directed a Devil May Cry. He Produced the first game. Hideki Kayima directed the original Devil May Cry.

I just want to make it clear - I have nothing against people dissing DmC or Ninja Theory. I think the game looks like dogshit, and I think Ninja Theory is a pretty piss poor developer based on their output so far. But that's still no reason to go out of your way to come up with conspiracy theories just to personally insult the guy making the game. It's stupid, it's childish, and it adds nothing worthwhile to a gaming discussion.

fuck this, I'm gonna replay Bayonetta on my 360 on a marathon this week-end to cleanse my soul

*this is not response to you duckroll, I just happened to post right after you... I am over this DMC reveal and am moving forward to other things like Vanquish next month

what a sad story this franchise has turned out to be, from one of the classics, a genre defining title, into a mockery in the gaming industry. sad.

I think it's pretty self evident with the hair styles. It's not "insulting the guy making the game", it's making an extremely obvious observation of the similarities between the two. Personally, I don't give a shit about this game, but neither am I blind.

I wouldn't go that far. To be honest I'm not over the moon about some of the changes, but unless I'm missing something none of us has seen gameplay and that is what I will always judge a game on, not a pre-rendered trailer. I hope it's great, i also hope for a PC version :D

is most of this backlash seriously just because they've changed how dante looks? i'm surprised people are this emotionally connected to it.
Oh, no

I think the looks are dumb, don't get me wrong, but that is potentially the least of the game's problems.

I have absolutely no investment in either the series or the argument. I am not a fan of the action genre and I have never owned any of the DMCs. However looking at the comparison pics, it seems pretty clear to me that there is either a deliberate connection or a big coincidence going on. The hair seals the deal. It's a carbon copy.

I don't think the resemblance is particularly relevant to quality of the end product, but I also don't think that censoring what can be plainly seen is warranted.
